Can Canadians go talk about the US team somewhere else? It's very hard to have constructive conversation when you insist on coming in here solely to insult us. Besides, let's not count our chickens before they're hatched. I don't really like this roster, but the last time I disliked a roster so much was 2013, and look how that turned out.

That's... not gonna happen

Its used by practically the whole panel, including McKenzie. But I'd like to know the main intention by the original poster, because it was strange to just list the late born 97's and the 98's, without including a single early 97. It seemed an odd grouping, as it seems he wouldn't of applied the undeager tag to Werenski, Boeser, and White.

Yes of course, because it is easier to explain in 1 word than to explain the age rule each and every time a 17 year old is shown wearing a cage and an 18 year old isn't. One happens to be a minor and the other is legally an adult, but that doesn't change the fact that for the purposes of that particular tournament, as an 18 year old with another year of eligibility remaining, he is an underager.

Alright, the topic has been beaten to death..

we're a little of 2 weeks from puck drop and I'm anxious to hear Miller say, "here we go". at least for day 1 game 1. after that, Miller's repetitive shtick becomes old real fast.

Why didn't Denis Yan make the club? Anyone know? Hes tearing up the QMJHL right now with 44 points in 26 games. Any glaring issues with him?

IIRC from the couple times I saw him last year his defense was lacking a bit. I think he should have been given a shot but there was others guys that weren't invited that I think are better anyways.

That's not really "tearing it up" in the QMJHL, it's "pretty good," but there are probably 10 players I would have put in before Yan. Just not at the right level.

Those numbers officially count as tearing it up. But, yeah there are a lot of guys putting up sick numbers in the CHL this year for the US, so it's just about the competition.

USA hockey just baffles me. Any time they have w chance to put a CHL stud in they don't. But Paul BITTNER makes it???

OVER KYLE CONNOR ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR MIND????

Debrincat, Dvorak, MacInnis, Tkachuk aren't studs? How about Milano, he played CHL?

Who is this stud? Connor Garland? The next Robbie Schremp. He would be ineffective in this tournament.

Enough with the CHL NCAA conspiracy theories. Some of these responses I see on here and Twitter are a complete joke. The team is full of broken commitments and non USNTDP/NCAA guys.

I am surprised to an extent that Kyle Connor was not invited. Id take him over Schmaltz.

Only other changes Id make would be Josh Jacobs or Jack Dougherty over Ryan Collins.

Roslovic has a case, but there are probably 8 invites at F, and Kyle Connor ahead of him. US just doesn't see him in the bottom 3 or 6. Im hoping Schmaltz a year older, and playing with his wingman Boeser will elevate his game. He has the talent, he just needs to play the full ice for a full game.

It seems the Canes are not completely opposed to the idea of releasing Hanifin for the WJC, but I'm afraid their nascent hot streak may dissuade them from doing so. I think the main advantage of sending Hanifin away from their point of view would be to give him a taste of being on a winning team again. However, with Jeff Skinner rediscovering his scoring form and the Canes starting to look like a real team that fights for every game, their FO may want Hanifin to be part of the team-building process.

USA fans better hope the Canes revert to playing like poop soon.

I totally agree. Right or wrong the U.S.brass is clearly going for a team first approach here with a set top and bottom six, etc. Guys like Bittner and Bjork aren't competing with guys like Connor because they are filling different roles. This approach might backfire, but it's not an anti-CHL conspiracy. The team will be full of players from those leagues.

Why don't they just make 4 lines full of elite skill like Canada and Finland? These are some of the worst team choices I've ever seen for a world junior team. Absolutely awful choices.

Canada didn't have 4 lines of elite skill last year and won. Finland has never had enough talent to have 4 lines of elite skill even if they wanted to build their roster that way.

I don't get why they didn't at least invite Connor and Roslovic to a lesser extent.

If they don't earn a spot on the final team, they don't, but to not even include them in the initial invites seems counterintuitive.

I guess they decided they saw enough.

Chychrun cut from Team Canada. Too late to throw an invite his way? Doubt he'd accept, but might be worth a shot.
