It would be kind of interesting to see a Team NA.. made up of Canadians and Americans that did not make their national teams...

Kyle Connor doesn't make much sense to me. The rest just seems like a bit of CHL insecurity complaining.

Boeser got knee on kneed last game, not sure if injured. No news so far, so seems good?

Man the bottom 4 D on this team will be weak.

When you look at those guys though (besides Collins, who may end up getting cut) I don't think they'll be as bad as people are making them out to be. A lot of people started out saying the U.S. D won't be all that great and everyone just kind of hopped on that bandwagon. I think they will hold their own. But yes, not as great as in years past.

Not really surprising Hanifin won't be released. He's been coming along quickly in recent weeks and is quite an important piece. Even playing on PP1 for Carolina.

That's one of the reasons why I hate that the U.S. camp starts kinda late. I know a lot of these kids have some familiarity with each other from years past which helps to an extent but with playing an extra weekend of hockey you run into situations where this could happen. I think this happened to Steve Santini as well before last years tournament.

Edit: Nevermind, I think his wrist injury happened well before camp.

It's been a real treat watching your contributions to both the USA roster thread and the Canada roster thread.

In the Canada thread, you scolded people for commenting on players left off, because they had "never seen them play," and the posters had no idea how good Canada was going to be.

In the US thread, you dance around like a leprechaun talking about how good the players(that you've never seen play) that team USA are, and letting everyone know how bad USA is going to be.

It's quite a dynamic you've got going for yourself.

Who are you to say I've never seen them play?? I've watched the vast majority of players on both Canada and the USA play. I'm entitled to my own opinion am I not? As a summary of all my posts...yes I think Canada will be very good, deep, skilled team...as for the US their forwards are good but their defence is weak after the first pair and I don't think they will win gold because of this.

The first two lines will be great...after that I honestly don't see any massive threats.

The threat will be that the bottom two lines are still good enough to shut down any other teams top line at the WJC and still be a threat offensively. That is a fact and what they will go for.

If your defense is possibly weak you bring in your best 200 ft players that are offensive and defensive and trust me the US team has several guys that can rival the best in the world for their age in that category.

Offense if set up right and will be very effective.

I don't see their bottom two lines being able to shut down the top lines of either Finland, Sweden, or Canada.

Well lets see I have seen them all live in the last 2 months and I have seen all of Canada's guys live in the last 6 months. And I agree with the other guy who just said you have not. Because based on all the things you have said you definitely have not. You really should stay on the Canadian page because everything you write on the USA page is a joke. I'm done even commenting on anything you have to say.

The whole "I've seen all them play!!!! You don't know what I've seen!!" argument is such a copout for someone like you who has clearly not seen many of these kids play or at best is simply a poor evaluator when watching.

Regardless, the last thing you or anyone should do is write off the USA before the tournament has even started. The Americans are as big a threat as ANY team at the WJC this year including Canada.

I think a lot of people don't realize how good Krys and McAvoy are. Both are young, so mistakes are likely, however they're extremely good. Krys has electrifying offensive talent.

“Shutdown lines†typically just get lit up when they play against good other teams top lines. That’s why most NHL teams now put their top lines against the other teams best. The most likely scenario is that these lines seem to do ok against the weak teams but get exposed against good teams top lines and have no place to hide against the top teams.

Krys is good but he could be exposed more than McAvoy in this tournament. I think guys like Will Borgen and Louie Belpedio are going to step up and impress during the WJC. I think Belpedio could end up being the Will Butcher of this years group.

What he was saying is these guys aren't just average grinders that won't be able to keep up. They will be able to play their roles well and have the skill to bury the puck in the net when they get chances..which they'll be able to create. There still is skill on our bottom six.
