William not on the ice today either and that's pretty bad news. Playing him against Slovakia would be ideal but I doubt it happens now.

Eriksson EK and Jacob Larsson are both on the ice. Söderström could be out against Slovakia.

WilliAm got his bell rung hard!.he is done for WJC AND possibly may miss time in the AHl afterwards. What good can come out of him playing int his tourney again especially when opposing team knows his injury.

I think this is a weird situation to say the least.

If he was having a concussion you know sure as hell that Toronto wouldn't let him stay in Helsinki. But still not even on the ice? Fishy..

It would be foolish to risk his future with another concussion now.

Look like no W Nylander for the QF then? I agree though if he really shows concussion symptoms then Toronto would simply forbid him to play. I think the Swe hockey fed is under pressure from Toronto. Not that I dont understand Toronto if they are a bit overly protective of Nylander, they have little to gain on taking chances.

Lou is about 100 times as influential as the Swedish management combined :)

I'm not sure if I would label Kempe a typical Swedish player, his speed, size(somewhat) & shot combo is not too common for our wingers. In a way, he's Loui Eriksson with some more bite though.

I was thinking of Kempe reminding me more like Freddy Modin in style. Drives the net, has a heavy shot. A winger that was under appreciated during his NHL career. He was a pretty good player that was always under the radar I thought.

I wonder if Söderström or Sandström will play in the QF...

Doesn't really matter... Sandström plays in SHL, Söderström doesn not. Sandström can play the puck pretty good and help out the D, Söderström can't.... Meanwhile, Söderström has experience from last years WJC and played the game of his life against the americans.

I think it doesn't matter who plays in net tbh

We will have a strong team next WJC:

Felix Sandström
Filip Gustavsson
Olle Eriksson Ek

Gabriel Carlsson - Jacob Larsson
Oliver Kylington - Timothy Liljegren
Jesper Lindgren - Gustav Bouramman
Lucas Carlsson

Jonathan Dahlen - Elias Pettersson - Rasmus Asplund
Alexander Nylander - Joel Eriksson Ek - Jesper Bratt
Carl Grundström - Sebastian Ohlsson - Jens Lööke
Andreas Wingerli - Linus Ölund - Filip Ahl
John Dahlström

Coach: Pär Mårts (hopefully)

If he's concussed the sad truth is that he's gonna carry that thru his entire career. You always risk another by playing.

Possibly, but the key is let this one heal completely before any more contact. I'd guess that almost every NHL player has had a least one concussion in their career and they seem to recover OK if given time.

No need to rush W.Nylander and put him in a situation that'll jeopardize his NHL and international career. Plus, Sweden can just as easily win without him; they're really deep.

As a Swede, I hope that Willie doesn't play another game in the JWC.

Not worth it.

Elaborate? As a swede, and if you're not a leafs fan, it's more important that he plats and bring home a gold medal... It's not like that tiny risk of getting re-injured means that hockey would then be losing a gretzky/lemieux early...

So because Nylander isn't Gretzky or Lemeiux he should be sacrificed for a largely meaningless gold medal? It's not the Olympics. It's WJC. Nylander shouldn't have even been sent in the first place. He was doing just fine in the AHL.

How is coming back too early from a concussion running a tiny risk of reinjury? It's very much the other way around...
