Underager. Most likely did not develop chemistry with another defenseman.

Why do you guys always have to take such old rosters?

Anyway, I was watching a replay of the final from last year. I didn't realize just how much talent that Russian team had. The Canadians always talk about their team being so talented, but re-watching that game, I thought Russia was better. It was 5-4 Canada near the end of the 2nd, and one of the Canadian defenseman took Buchnevich down as he was going to the net, should've been a penalty shot, instead only a penalty and PP was called. There were also numerous questionable calls that went in Canada's favor.

True.
Canada only went through the entire tournament without ever trailing in a game.
Those refs clearly gave the tourney to them.

I thought Russia played better in the final. The officiating was clearly in the home teams favor. I don't know how you could really doubt that. I'm also a neutral, not from either country.

Well, to be fair, I didn't have the impression that the judges were that biased (and I am a fan of Russia). The Canadians did well to score many goals quickly and the Russians just couldn't tie the score, although they fought back very hard (and deserve praise).

Well, but the Canadians did score those goals, I can't see how this is tied only to officiating.

From 2 games I've seen with guryanov this year he was invisible.. He didn't have much time and I know it's 2 games, for example example he tried to deke and failed in both games, most of the time it seemed like he was behind the play. I know he is 18 and he has some raw talent, but overall left a disappointing impression, maybe because of all the hype. I would rather more mature lauta and polunin with loko chemistry

Rubtsov is not in KHL, but impressed me more

The bitter thing last year was letting in a very soft goal for our goalie that turned out to be the difference..

Oh please Russia was lucky to even make the final they looked awful at the start of that tournament...Canada was way better then them it wasn't even close.

Strange that Tretiak always gets included. I mean, it's obvious the guy's trying, but he just hasn't been providing good results. Others should come in instead, but apparently 'someone' thinks otherwise :D.

It was close, in the final. The score was 5-4. The Russian team was less consistent though, that is true.

Kaprizov will be wasted on a line with Svetlakov, and yet it appears this is what we are getting.

How does this team compare to last year's ?

I think it's collectively better. There's a lot more cohesion, and the backend looks really strong. As much as people are saying there isn't a lot of big time skill up front, I think there's plenty, and they have pretty good depth (that Lokomotiv line is very underrated for most of us North Americans). If they play smart, and buy into Bragin's system, they'll medal.

Could someone tell me what will most likely be the line combination and def pairing for team russia?
Boikov - Provorov
Rykov - Voronkov
Sergeev - Sharipzyanov
Mikulovich - Zhuldikov

Svechnikov - Kamenev - Lazarev
Polunin - Kraskovskiy - Korshkov

PP units:
