I know you didn't ask me, but no...

Finland is right there with you guys and the Czechs.

We have amazingly talented forward group this year, but our defenders and goalies compared to Russia is not that good.

Finland - Russia in Helsinki will be an amazing game, can't wait! :yo:

I'm assuming that you put Canada and the U.S. as favourites, then? Just asking.

Yeah, that does sound like a pretty awesome game, enjoy! :D

Guryanov and Zborovsky were the final cuts.

By sheer luck, Polunin makes this team. Hopefully he surprises.

Guryanov cut, dang I was really looking forward to seeing him. Looks like he's having himself a pretty bad season though.

PP units:
Provorov - Kaprizov - Lazarev - Kamenev - Svechnikov
Rykov - Boikov - Polunin - Kraskovskiy - Korshkov

Would you say the Finnish roster this year is the strongest overall, out of all teams?

I can't say it has the best roster, but it will be the toughest competition in the Group to which Russia is assigned, and Finland has a habit of being a nemesis for Russia.

not taking an extra forward is pretty dumb, but who am I to judge...go Russia, good luck to the pocket red machine :)

as far as Guryanov goes - Bragin knows that at this level discipline is huge, it may be a costly lesson, but a much needed one.

According to the Guryanov's interview he gave after being cut off the team: Bragin was very specific when he told the team that the individual discipline would be the main factor during the evaluation process. Bragin made the statement - he had to keep his word. Guryanov lost his temper and failed. Nobody's fault but Guryanov's.

But why remove a talented player from the roster? Hmm.

setting a precedent in front of teenagers by allowing undisciplined behavior is almost equivalent to encouraging it. Bragin knows the psychology of this age; therefore, he is good at this level.

not so talented in bragin's eyes after all. he had to show something against denmark besides that little tantrum...

Let's face it, if Russia doesn't win the Gold Medal, it won't be because Guryanov was missing from the roster. He is a great prospect for next year, but he hasn't done much in a while, and Bragin won't tolerate undisciplined play.

By sheer luck, Polunin makes this team. Hopefully he surprises.

Polunin has two things going for him: a) chemistry with Korshkov and Kraskovsky and b) his outstanding play in the KHL this season.

I don't think he got lucky. Polunin has a strong track record this year.

Even though we know Guryanov has more long term potential than Polunin, there is no evidence he is a better player right now than Polunin. Not only has Polunin better better in the KHL this season than Guryanov, he has been better at the U20 level than Guryanov.
