What Russia also did well that game was the fact that all 4 lines were dangerous against Finland - there was no 'filler' line out there. Go Russia! :D

Agree, Russia is rolling 4 great lines and any line can without a problem score a goal against you. That's something I don't see on American, Swedish or Finnish team. That's going to be their big advantage, imo. Canada has it too.

Yeah, last year it was a bit different with the Tolchinsky and Buchnevich lines doing most of the scoring as far as I remember (correct me if I'm wrong). I also liked how team Russia battled on the boards, that's definitely a strength since they ended up winning a lot of the 1 vs. 1 in thsoe areas. Faceoffs have also beed solid, and these should never be underestimated.

In the Czech team, Spacek is really good so far, very dynamic and has a dangerous shot.

Canada's team skates extremely fast though, I can see this being a problem for Russia, unless of course they go 'all out' - it seems to me that the Russians are always 'asleep' until they really have to battle, but then come guns all blazing. Strange attribute, probably something to do with slavic mentality :D.

As we say, take our time saddling a horse but ride it fast. We're Methodical and unpredictable. Most russian coaches emphasize being unpredictable in Russia. Whereas in Canada a system is demanded at younger age.

I think that is why we produce the Datsyuk, Kovalevs and Bures

What I like about this team - clinical powerplay! I mean, you can't give our team a powerplay. The team cycles the puck very quickly, go behind the net, have several sniper-style forwards hunting out that net. And we realize our moments, that's also very positive.

It's been really good so far, but I wouldn't say job well done just yet, Czechs or Finns have not been really good defensively and I think Sweden, Canada and USA will all be more fierce on Pk

Well, the Finns are about where Canada, US and Sweden are at, I'd say. I think Russia has a good chance of winning against any of these teams. If every line comes out there and creates havoc, plus fights to the end, which these guys do under Bragin, Russia's chances to at least medal are looking pretty good, imo.

I agree, but if we are talking solely about pp, I'm not 100% convinced that it's stellar atleast simply due to sample size and opponents. I wouldn't be surprised if in the next few games it'll get worse, just to avoid the hype. But so far no doubt I'm happy

And as far as getting a medal, I think any Russian poster on here will tell you that Russia was significantly underestimated, lol even a bit by myself. While the Chl Ushl was blown way out of proportion. So I wouldn't be surprised if they finish well, and realistically good shot as always to take gold . About time after all those losses in the finals.

I don't get why they'd be underestimated when a bunch of kids on the team have experience in the 2nd best league in the world, can't say I'm surprised. Also no one overestimated CHL its not about that. Canada's roster is full of 18 year olds, US hasn't done anything to suggest they aren't still among the favorites, and Finland are being led by 17 year olds and as a team are still finding their form. Sweden a few players and opted for a more physical team, leaving some skill behind. The tournament is still wide open, nothing has changed.

Well, they got 3 PP goals against Finland, one of the favourites in the tournament, so I think the PP can score against any opponent. I hope our team finishes well, at least with a medal.

The general opinion that i saw on these boards prior to the tourney was that russia was not a medal contender. I see it every year here and its always way off. Not surprising since its a predominantly western audience here.

Here's hoping we don't have to see you guys until late, not so confident in this young Canadian teams ability to beat you guys this year. Your comeback against Finland gave me flashbacks of our loss in the gold medal years ago after being up 3-0. :(

Panarin, Kuznetsov, Tarasenko - what a team that was.

The list doesn't end there.. Orlov, Zaitsev, S. Kalinin, Burdasov, even role guys like Dvurechenskiy, Voronin - all solid players now and will compliment NT at peak of their careers one day..

I always felt Sobchenko was very promising and had a good shot of becoming that big playmaking center. Shame about what happened.

I can see Korshkov and Kamenev cracking the NT in the next 3 years or so.

I believe in Kaprizov more. He plays not very entertaining, but very effective style. He usually outthinks his opponents, and it's the quality, that works very good on any level, WHC, NHL, Olympics. Add to this his obvious skill, and you get a special player.

Finn here! Our PK has to be under 50%, so don't get too confident.

Sweet team bus!

They might be overdoing it a bit with the 'Red Machine' ... I mean c'mon, the days of USSR hockey glory are gone. Still though, team Russia has shown again and again that they can compete for top spots at an international level. And I hope that this WJC team will continue this tradition.

Denmark's coach, Eller, was throwing heaps of praise on team Russia, saying that he hopes they won't lose 8-0 - hehehe, strategian :D. He's trying to get our boys relaxed. Team Russia has to come out playing their 100% game, no holding back just because it's team Denmark. Go Russia!
