Alright boys and girls - as to Russia vs. Denmark - go Russia! C'mon boys, show your best game today!

Based on IIHF stats Dergachev has 0 shots on goal. Maybe Bragin should try to integrate him with the offense a bit more.

Ok, should Georgiev come out against the US? I've watched the Danish goals again - 2 of them came from juicy rebounds. Other than that, Georgiev hasn't looked that bad though, but rebound control is an issue. Samsonov did pretty well in his only game, but if they let him play, he might not be used to the pressure, whereas Georgiev has already played a playoff game. Looks like a difficult decision for Bragin.
I favor a switch. Samsonov is probably more physically talented, but more importantly, I think a team changes its style of play when they lose confidence in their goaltender. The rink was tilted toward the Denmark goal, but among the tiny number of chances that they generated, Denmark probably scored on half of them. So there was always the feeling that, no matter how much offensive pressure was put on the Danish goal, there was always the likelihood that Georgiev would give up a goal if pressed. He has looked shaky even against lesser opponents. Anybody agree?
For sure that was the feeling, but I think it's the whole team, not just the goalie. I think even with Samsonov in net it would be quiet similar game.
I agree, but even on a 4th line (why, I don't know), he generates a tremendous amount of offense in the goal mouth, and a lot of the Russian goals have been scored while he plants his huge beastly body right in front of the net. He will overpower and overwhelm the opposition, but he can also out-finesse them. I don't know why he is being underutilized.
I think if young Russians squeeze past USA today it will be like miracle on ice version 2016.

But that goaltending and quite cumbersome offense of Russians, the USA will go in the match as favorites.
I agree that the US are favorites, but comments like this show that people have forgotten the gravity of the Miracle on Ice.
It was basically a WJC team beating an NHL-level all-star team.
I would call them hype favorites, but if you look past nhl draft numbers and actually look where the players on Russian team come from and what some have done on mens level, there isnt another country that boasts as many khl level players.
The only thing we're missing is elite forwards, but make up for it with 4 solid lines
I would say most importantly people don't understand Russian mentality, which is why people are so puzzled how we can look so lazy and sloppy against Danes and come out another period and whoop the fins with 4 goals or Canada with 5.. Skill is there, but that is why you need the Bragin on the team who is a great motivator specifically for Russian players
When is the last time US beat Russia at WJC? The answer is ages ago.
it'd be nice to have some success in the khl before, but there he failed. How is Bragin not coaching the senior NT?
let's not belittle semin here with such comparisons.By the way why is Svechnikov so useless ? 6 games and not a single point.
He must be some kind of Semin player really, useless for club, useless even more in NT.
Meh.
Korshkov is amazing!
Svechnikov at least was motivated this time, although I had an impression that he has got stamina only for a half of shift, but I guess it would be known if he has any health issues.
Hope that Samsonov gets to start in the final.
