Lol okay.

If thats true, then Vancouver is completely stupid to allow their player to play with broken ribs.

I'll trust the random poster on an internet board rather than what their organization says.

These conspiracy theories lol. If he did have broken ribs, it would be hurting him to breathe.

Whatever Injury he has whether it's ribs or hip he is playing through it. It's tolerable. If you've watched his style the last 2 yrs it's a speed robust power game. He has done non of that this tournament. You have to be naive to think he just changed his game all of a sudden. He got through the Utica conditioning stint which was the stipulation tha Canucks gave him in order to play in WJC. He will be fine and will turn it on when it counts.

6-0 US vs. the team that took Canada to a shootout yesterday. Yikes

Everyone saw this coming. We did not play to our level yesterday but the Swiss also left everything out on the ice. Had to know the Swiss would come back flat. Having said that, kudos to the U.S.

Hockey Canada can't win. If they send a big team, people complain we left skill at home. If they send skill, the team is soft.

At the end of the day, this team has not gelled nor have they caught any breaks. We will need both or we will be leaving this tournament early.

There's a difference between leaving skill at home or sending a big team. It's about attitude, it's about playing the Canadian way where we go out and intimidate teams while also playing a fast and highly skilled game.

Having little Joe as the teams most physical player tells you a lot about this team. We don't have that intensity and Canadian style we're used to seeing. Skill guys like Duclair and Domi last year are the type of intense attitude I'm referring to. Not just about size or skill -- can be both.

Marner is more like Kane than Gagner. Gagner doesn't have Marner's skating and was never the top guy on his line/team like Marner was, He's also always been pretty bad defensively and while Marner needs to gain weight he still has shown quite a lot of 2 way potential in his game and his skills are certainly suited to the NHL he obviously can't get away with all the stuff he does in juniors but High end hockey IQ,Skating and puck skills usually always translate.

I compare Marner to Gagner more in Jr because of strength alone. Kane had tree trunk legs and was ridiculous to knock off the puck even on the boards. Marner and Garner are not very strong but agile and slippery. Stick handling is very similar as well. Marner more defensively reliable than Gagner tho

People complain regardless. Usually we leave a little skill st home for a glue guy and that's what we're missing right now. Someone to crash bodies and to make sure no one gets any extra whacks at our goalie. We usually take someone who is a bit of a wildcard who plays on the edge which scares other teams

Nah he hasn't.

Take that nonsense elsewhere.
It's the Canada roster thread and he's stating his opinion on the Canada roster. Why would he take that elsewhere? Because it's something you don't agree with?

It's because people are huge supporters of Canada and want to see us win gold. But yeah, having a wildcard guy would be nice (i.e. 19 year old Hawryluk who was left off -- hard nosed style player).

Still hoping for Canada to win gold and believe we can, but if they play as soft as they have, they won't. It's plain for most of us to see. Watch the way the Russians and Finns, even the Swedes have been playing. We're missing the Canadian element that they seem to have.

This I agree with.

Prior to the tournament, most posters were pleased. We had a strong goalie entering the tournament (albeit late), a solid, talented D and fast, skilled guys up front. Now, everyone is a critic. And, maybe they should be.

I just think, as I have said before, we need a break or 2 to go our way. Nothing has so far. If we get a little momentum, and a bit of luck...

Pray for that. I know I will be.

I was saying yesterday the Swiss were playing more Canadian than the Canadians.

Team Canada probably has the same amount of cohesion as the game day threads where fans aren't supportive but instead rip apart every player on the team.

It is all momentum. The Swiss got 2 (not lucky but close) goals, we were in a hole and playing catch-up. Next thing you know, the Swiss are wondering if they can win and playing accordingly. Team Canada is worrying about losing and gripping their sticks. Then, everything got worse when the goalie started making saves.

Think whatever you want and make up as many excuses to make yourself feel better about JV's poor play.

One thing is for certain, there is no way he is playing with broken ribs, this isn't the Stanley Cup finals.

disagree.

Then you aren't watching. Either that or you hate the leafs so much it's clouding your judgement. Look man, leaf fans on here are annoying as all hell sometimes, but to say that point is playing better than marner is a joke. While I don't think that marner has been great, point has been disgustingly poor... And that's unacceptable for a returning player.

True.

Am I the only one feel like, Canada not playing as physical as they should be?
I mean when you see other teams not being afraid to be little bit chippy, I feel Canada is missing that edge, We just don't have that identity of physically intimidating any more.

Hopefully the player bashing stops
No sense in it now
Nothing to gain
To your comments, this team was not picked to be physical
It was meant to be a quick skating puck possession team and one that plays a 200 foot game
The issue now is one day Perlini is first line- TSN blowing him up with big press etc and now he is the 13th forward
That is one example of how unsettled the players feel and how player confidence is affected
Can all this change to the good- we will see tomorrow
I said long before that this team could fall off the rails
This is exactly what I meant
The quarters are not do or die
Tomorrow's game is do or die
Get it together or have the bus defrosted tomorrow night

Tough to play that crash and bang intimidating way on big ice. Crouse and Virtanen are easily the toughest most rugged players in this tourney.

Yeah he has.

It's a fact, The strome line was the only line that did anything yesterday.

Only thing Marner did was take 5 minute shifts and turn the puck over countless times.

Try watching the games, all Strome did was loft a shot on net at a bad angle. Marner hit the post and than prevented a goal on the same shift. An inch in, or out, for either and Marner is now god and Strome is getting flake.

Wanna talk about crazy turnovers, Marner isn't where the convo starts.

Maybe stay current? Most people want to get that nonsense bashing out of here. This is why our GDT yesterday is reaching legendary status of suck and being talked about in other threads, because we have posters who cant help but bash our own players. It's embarrassing.:shakehead

Nobody should care who isn't about, it's the same end game of pumping one up and bashing another even though they are on the same team, at a time where we should be supporting all of them (As nobody is playing great, nor horrible, and nobody has set themselves apart to warrant this crap). Never mind the fact the statement is wrong.

This marner hate is getting crazy. My honest assessment: at times been the most noticeable player on the ice, could easily have more points if linemates had a bit more finish, also hit a post. He's a had some good very zone entries and has puck handling skills and vision that nobody else on the team has. BUT, you can tell isn't physically ready which results in losing puck battles/turnovers. That being said he has not been a turn over machine like some are claiming for whatever reason. Other than the first 2 periods of the U.S. game I don't know how any objective viewer can say he's been massive disappointment. To me he stands out almost every shift. I know this is hypothetical, but it'd be interesting to read this thread if stromes crazy angle goal doesn't go in yesterday and marners shot goes in rather than hit the post.

They were the only line that did anything in the third.

Every shift was constant offensive zone pressure.

And people said virtanen was the worst player on the ice.

:shakehead:shakehead:shakehead

:laugh::laugh::laugh:

Virtanen has been complete trash he did nothing yesterday...Yes the Strome line was doing things in the third but Virtanen wasn't apart of it he was constantly missing the net going offside by a mile turning the puck over and just generally floating and making bad plays in the offensive zone.

I'm starting to wonder if he's secretly trying to sabotage Canada for Finand hes been that bad every single game...Someone needs to strip the maple Leaf of his Jersey.

US Caught them on the back end of the back to back, just like the Swiss caught us on the back end of a back to back.

'yikes'

lol ;)

Back to back doesn't excuse Canada's pathetic lack of offense yesterday.
