Hypothetically, if Dal Colle has an average camp and Perron rips it up, do you think hockey Canada will go for draft pedigree or actual on-ice play? This is not a rhetorical question...I am legitimately concerned about HC's selection process.

If Virtanen is released, then most likely Dal Colle gets cut if he doesn't own the camp. If Virtanen stays with the Nucks, then Dal Colle can mail it in, as I don't think HC will cut him. HC will cross their fingers, as will we, that Dal Colle can get his **** together. but that's highly doubtful at this point.

Dal Colle sucked in camp last year, and he's been disappointing so far this season, so I could definitely see him getting axed again. The thing is though, the guy can be absolutely lethal when the puck is on his stick in the offensive zone. I'm pulling for him, as he seems like a good kid and I think he could be a tremendous contributor if his game is up to snuff and he's placed in a position to succeed. I'd certainly like to see Virtanen released too (and of the NHLers, I think he has the best shot of being released).

I think they'd go with Perron, hypothetically speaking. They did, after all, cut Dal Colle last year after he went 5th overall just 6 months earlier. The thing is though, I think Dal Colle will have either an awful camp (and get cut) or a great one, and end up on the first or second line.

Tune in tomorrow and the fun starts on the 10th. Where is camp? Calgary?

Good question, I was going to ask you the same (you're typically up to speed on such things). Come to think of it, I'm going to the Ottawa vs. Kingston game on the 9th...hopefully Konecny, Crouse and Watson will be in action.

Watson seems to be a lock, how come?

He is not a 100% lock I would say but definitely has a very good chance to make it. He had a very good summer camp and then recently lit up the super series. He's also posted very good numbers in Kingston this year.

Here is my final predicted roster. I included Virtanen as I think he has a good shot of being sent down.

Forwards:

Crouse Point Virtanen
Watson Strome Marner
Perlini Barzal Konecny
Chartier Beauvillier Gauthier
Dal Colle

Defence:

Sanheim Juulsen
Fleury McKeown
Hicketts Chabot
Dunn

Goalies:

Blackwood
McDonald

Canada is not just BC to Ontario (with one player from Halifax - find the intruder!) No Quebecois? I highly doubt that. Beauvillier is almost a lock and he won't be the only one.

Making a team has nothing to do with balancing each province out. This is the kind of thing that got HC into trouble for a few years when they weren't winning. Too much political stuff in the background instead of just picking the best players. If the whole team was from Ontario would it matter? or if half the team was from Quebec would it matter...no it wouldn't as long as the they pick the best players.

EDIT : Full roster prediction

Point - Marner - Watson
Beaullivier - Barzal - Konecy
Crouse - Stome - Chartier
Shirley - Bleackley - Virtanen
Richard

Hicketts - Fleury
Mckeown - Dermott
Van Sompel - Sanheim
Chychurun

Blackwood
Hill
Wells

You need to be realistic here...Hill and Wells are not being invited to camp, neither are Shirley or Richard. Also if Virtanen is sent down he will be on the second line at worst. Finally, I'd be very surprised if they don't have Strome and Marner together at the very least to start the tournament.

I was perusing Walman's eliteprospects page and noticed he played for Team Canada at the u-19 WJAC in 13-14. interesting....

The Duos (IMO)

(LW) - Strome and Marner

Beaullivier and Barzal - (RW)

Fill in the gaps and that's the top 2 lines IMO.

Point will be in the top-6, probably at center. I therefore see the Barzal / Beauvillier line as a probable 3rd line.

I never suggest that we must balanced each province.:shakehead
I understand that we might not see players from Newfoundland or P.E.I.
But, on the other hand, I don't remember a WJC Canada team with no Quebecois. And with the talent from Quebec this year, I'll be very surprise to not see at least one of Beauvillier, Chabot, Perron, J. Roy, Gauthier, etc making the team.

There definitely will be Quebecois players on the team. I think right now Beauvillier is pretty much a lock to make it. All the other guys you mentioned have decent shots as well, imo.

Dal Colle is on pace for a 55 point OHL season. He has never impressed with TC before, i dont see why he makes the team this year. He was much better last season.

Dal Colle is too slow for the big ice. Even with Marner and Watson as line mates he still wasn't able to produce. And this was on small ice. He'll be one of the last cuts but he isn't making it. Gautheir (cement feet) is way too slow for the big ice plus hes not eligible. He's too old. The defense is just atrocious and I don't think I like Mcdonald as the backup. Might sniff out an invite but I see Hill being the backup. I guess Mcdonald could be the third goalie if HC decides to take three over the Finland

I don't think I like anything about this team at all.

Julian Gauthier. Admittedly he is no Shirley though.

I am really doubtful that Dal Colle will get picked. He's having a bad year, and he had a bad summer camp and a completely mediocre super series game. I don't think HC is going to have a huge problem cutting a fifth overall pick in a year when there are many other good forwards available.
