Seems weird, but maybe he's saving Pompey in case the game remains tied and he needs a stolen base later. This isn't a stolen base situation. They just need a faster guy.

It doesn't matter how fast you are when you're at 1st with the bases loaded & EE at second. It was the right move for defensive reasons...
