For those trying to keep track of the Kings' draft picks in 2015:
http://prosportstransactions.com/hockey/DraftTrades/Years/2015.htm

1st Round: 13th overall
2nd Round: 43rd overall
3rd Round: 74th overall
4th Round: 104th overall
5th Round: 134th overall
6th Round: Traded to Chicago (164th overall for Dan Carcillo)
7th Round: 187th overall (from New Jersey), 194th overall

My uneducated guess

Timo Meier or Kyle Connor 13th
Filip Ahl 43th
Graham Knott 74th or Nicolas Roy

Thomas Schemitsch 104th

#40 in Europe skaters. I just assume that It's a lot of North American players ranked higher then him.

Where do you think he will end up?

Already skipped over once and a European player. 4th or 5th round.

Won't be surprised if he drops to 7th rd or even undrafted. There are players who have played longer in the SHL than him and are younger (and more skilled).

With the (probable) 13th pick, I think Zboril and Meier would both be great selections for the Kings. Meier is a big-bodied power forward with great hands and finishing ability, though his skating could use a lot of work. Fits the Kings' mold. And Zboril is a solid two-way defenseman with a real heavy shot. First-pairing potential. Please drop to 13!

Trade up to get Hanifin or don't even look at D. We have D prospects coming our of our *******s right now, either go high impact big potential or just look at a forward.

We need a goalscorer. There is nothing in our system 25 or under that has 25 goal potential besides Toffoli. Maybe Pearson, though I think this seasons numbers were a bit inflated by a hot start.

My wish list...

13th- T. Konecny (C/W), Y./E. Svechnikov (LW), T. Meier (RW)
43rd- Z. Senyshyn (RW), R. Andersson (D), N. Korostelev (RW)
74th- F. Ahl (LW), T. Dermott (D), G. Knott (LW), J. Lindgren (D)
104th- D. Sharipzyanov (D), C. White (D), S. Aho (LW)
134th- L. Herbst (G), J. Morrissey (G), K. Capobianco (D)
187th/194th- C. Jones (D), G. Franzen (C), M. Mercier (D), S. Zborovsky (D), D. Cotton (C), S. Aho (D)

Might be old rankings but what I got ;)

Thing is, organizational strengths and weaknesses by position for prospects vary over a really short timespan. If these kids take three years to develop before we see them in the NHL, we can't predict whether we'll need an impact forward, dman, etc then. This just adds to the idea of taking the best player available...

Interesting logic.

Not sure if you're trying to be condescending.

Gaborik is 33 with injuries issues that have plagued him for half of his career. He will start to decline in the next few years. So far we have one pure goal scorer that can replace him, which is Toffoli, and like Kingsfan said, we need more than that. Of course we could make trades but this is the draft thread so I wanted to add my thoughts on our needs for the Kopitar line (this season).

And normally I agree, but right now we are flush with D and have little skill. Take BPA round two onward but we have no high end offensive skill in the system, now or down the road.

Okay, if any of you have ever seen Star Trek this is how you have to look at this situation.

The draft lottery is the Kobayashi Maru, and Dean is Captain Kirk. If you're not cheating you're not trying.

I will be surprised, given the position that the Kings will likely be drafting at, if the Kings don't go for a center or defenseman in the 1st round. These are the two positions, other than goaltending, that this organization values the most. I think they have been proven right in this approach.

What the heck was this?! Too much wine? The Kobayashi Maru was a test of a no-win scenario to gauge the resolution of the candidate. If anything, the Edmonton Oilers are the best example of a Kobayashi Maru. Poor team has been in a no-win scenario since Ke$ha had hits on the radio.

Given how poor Kings have drafted in the first round past #5, I'm just hoping we go for a high skilled forward, should it be the best player available.

Winning the #1 pick in the lottery has a very low probability of happening for the Kings. That's why Dean needs to find a way to change the conditions of the "test".

Trust me, if you draft the right defenseman, you will have something you can trade for a highly skilled forward. Wingers matter little to Dean. Those are the kind of guys (proven scorers) that he grabs at the trade deadline when necessary.

Look at the Carter for Johnson + 1st round pick trade. Having good young defensemen in the pipeline makes trades like that possible. Still think if Voynov is reinstated and Sekera is re-signed an NHL defenseman will be traded to get the Kings the #3 center they need.

I have a dead heat for Connor (my favorite for the 13th going into the draft) Meier, Konecny or maybe a plater who falls down to us out of luck. It is going to be a heck of a 1st round this year for sure. We really can't lose this time around. Not to say we have before but the amount of exceptional kids from 1 to about 20 this year is really amazing. After that is just as good as most any other draft but before it is really deeply loaded with some very high end talented kids. Could be a good one for us.

Any kids at center that could make the jump to challenge for 3c in a year or two? (other than 1+2 overall)

Pavel Zacha's has the physical build to play in the NHL soon. Seems like his stock was falling a little bit since the start of the season. Not sure if he'd be there for the Kings pick, but it does seem possible.
