And I don't think anyone saw Dano sticking around for 35 games and getting close to a 50 point pace either. I don't know what's going to happen, but this early projection stuff (especially Oshie comments) isn't valuable or likely accurate.

We've already seen that the front office will stick with a young player if they feel it's the right thing to do (Wennberg). Although part of that was injury, he seemed destined to stick even with a healthy team.

Have fun.

I project him to be in Cleveland for all of this year. Consider (1) he played on a bad Plymouth team last year and got a late start because of his broken jaw; (2) he needs to learn to play without the puck; (3) the Monsters will be guys that he will be playing with for (hopefully) years to come; (4) the CBJ are loaded with talented forwards all with one way contracts, so barring major injuries the need is not there.

I'm not trying to be funny, but projecting where/when he gets to the NHL doesn't matter. This year of development is all that anybody should really care about. The CBJ rushed prospects for 10-12 years (see Brule, Gilbert, et.al.). If there is a mistake to be made here, i, for one, would like to see what happens when they stay in the AHL too long.

I, for two, agree.

Has anyone seen Bobrovsky in camp and can comment on if his offseason training has made a difference?

My biggest gripe with him in his time in Columbus is he's been the victim of slow starts himself, injuries notwithstanding. The Bob we saw last night was a revelation and has me pretty excited that his slow start won't be a thing this year. However, I don't want to get excited about a small sample size.

No surprises for me, expect for one, among 14 cuts not Sheppard and Pihlstrom.

We get it, you don't like them. Hate to break it to you but they're probably going to be the last cuts, if they're cut at all.

I'm really surprised Oleg Yevenko wasn't cut, I thought he looked bad?

With a number of young guns still around (Milano, Bjork, etc), it's probably not a bad idea to have a few big guys you can insert in the lineup to make sure some AHLer on another team doesn't target one in order to make an impression.

early, incomplete thoughts on first two home preseason games:

Bob looked fantastic

Murray looks good

veterans going at about 60% but Cam stood out a bit, as did Johansen being a little chippy at times

Milano is not fully baked yet - needs to simmer at the AHL level. Too focused on the pretty play and not nearly good enough without the puck

Bjorkstrand needs to learn how to play without space or create space. he needs a lot of time to percolate

Rychel looks particularly good to me. Jenner lite is my hope for him, if not Jenner 2.0.

Korpisalo looked good, but had a lot of bounces go his way.

Forsberg seems slow laterally and isn't always in the best position

The '4th line' of Calvert, Campbell and Clarkson made me wish for some '5th liners' on the ice. Holy Schnikes were they bad - it did get better, but in no way were they 'gritty' or 'pests' If the CBJ are going to run out a line that chases the puck for 70 seconds they may as well do it with a group of kids that might actually do something with the puck when they get it.

Boll 3.0 kind of reminds me of a Boll Millennium. A lot of promise, but still just window dressing over a bad hockey player. (and I love the kid, seriously I do) It makes me sad. I had hoped he could contribute in some way. I don't see how he gets ice time with a full lineup of available players.

Kane is almost 27 and a proven NHLer...wtf are you worried about?

Just because a guy is left-handed, has a slight stature, and can stick handle doesn't mean he's automatically the equivalent of Patrick Kane. Sure, Milano has potential and offensive upside, but he hasn't produced in Juniors or with the USND at the level Kane did. Plenty of guys might get compared to Kane and his style of play, but pretty much no one is going to follow his exact career path.

I merely asked a question comparing our prospect to a true NHL elite scorer. No harm done, some hockey fans are more knowledgeable than others. Actually Red Storm I specifically asked how comparable he was to the Prospect Patrick Kane, not the 27 year old. Looking back at my post can you see the distinction? You can tell time can't you boy?

Agreed on Milano. He missed an empty net attempting a highlight reel shot.

It's the preseason. One would hope Calvert/Campbell/Clarkson aren't being pests and getting too overly physical in games that mean nothing.

Preds fan in peace here! Really interested about Murray. How has he looked and what kind of minutes is he going to play when the season starts?

He's been on the ice an hour early before practice even starts getting drills in .. so I'd say that's a plus.
