I'm really surprised Yevenko and Kukan have made it farther than Heatherington, Paliotta, and Madaisky
I also think someone claims Madaisky
The last time the Jackets kept "worm bodies" this late in the camp happened when Doug MacLean was a general manager. They actually used to keep warm bodies all year long back then. You're reading far, far too much into this. He's really not very good. I suspect he's still there because he's a warm body and not a particularly valuable asset compared to the others who will be NHL players someday.
Anyone notice Gerard's son Brett Gallant still on the roster for some reason? The last surviving member of the PEI mafia?
Still in camp
Forwards (20): 9 Gregory Campbell, 11 Matt Calvert, 13 Cam Atkinson, 17 Brandon Dubinsky, 18 Rene Bourque, 19 Ryan Johnansen, 20 Brandon Saad, 21 Kerby Rychel, 23 David Clarkson, 25 William Karlsson, 38 Boone Jenner, 40 Jared Boll, 41 Alexander Wennberg, 43 Scott Hartnell, 71 Nick Foligno
Rotating in/out Press box squad due to bumps and bruises: Boll, Karlsson, Clarkson
Defensemen (11): 4 Kevin Connaution, 7 Jack Johnson, 27 Ryan Murray, 29 Cody Goloubef, 47 Dalton Prout, 51 Fedor Tyutin, 58 David Savard

Seriously this. They might want to see more out of some of the players, while others they have a pretty good gauge of where they're at and what they need. And if none of them are forcing their way into the lineup like Jenner then it's better for them to get to Lake Erie and get acclimated with everything in Cleveland. The only one who I think really has a chance to force his way into the lineup is Rychel.
@Aportzline: #CBJ very impressed with towering D Oleg Yevenko (6-7), and may sign him to two-way deal. As of now he's under an AHL-only deal.

Sorry, but I'd trust Portzline and CBJ front office on this one.

He was a student at the University of Massachusetts for 4 years till this spring. He couldn't attend any NHL camps. He's there for a little extra look, I'll concede that, but I wouldn't read into it that he's somehow passed the other guys on the depth chart (the 'top 11' comment). Being sent down now vs later really doesn't have a lot to do with how the org views these guys. There are no D spots open and they may as well send the other guys down to get them started with Lake Erie. Yevenko's getting an extra look just to see if he's worth a 2 way deal. This is is 4th camp with an NHL team, so maybe he's progressed to the point that he could possibly play a game or two in the NHL, but after seeing him in camp and on Tuesday, I have little desire to see him out there.
Big kid, lots of heart, but he may be one of the slower guys I've ever seen in an NHL game, preseason or not.

hey guys. just wondering how william karlsson has been?
You can't compare development camps to an actual NHL pre-season camp.Islanders, Devils, Bruins, now CBJ. all have taken looks at him. This is his 'first' training camp, the others were development camps.

Todd Richards is saying:after seeing him in camp and on Tuesday, I have little desire to see him out there.
And Kekkalainen:playing against NHL players — bigger, faster, stronger guys — I’ve been impressed with how he’s handled himself.
http://bluejacketsxtra.dispatch.com...09/25/Blue-Jackets-Oleg-Yevenko-6-feet-7.htmlBill Zito saw him last spring at the world championships (playing for Belarus) and liked him a lot. He’s been a positive surprise, for sure, the way he competes and plays physical, how he works in practice.
Me too, unless of course it's not a sample Edmonton Oilers with Ekins and McTavish. And sorry, I trust an actual NHL coach and front office officials more.

I guess you've got diametrically different looks at his game. And sorry, I trust an actual NHL coach and front office officials more.
Yevenko-Prout pairing?
Klich, some people aren't sold on Prout being an NHL player. I don't claim to know anything about Yevenko, and he is HUGE compared to Prout's BIG, but I'd guess he's prolly worse than Prout at about everything at this point? I can see him definitely get a 2-way deal to have an extended "exclusive" look at him so another team doesn't swoop in. He'll essentially play the "prout role" in Syracuse.
The roles Prout and Yevenko play are still valuable in the game of hockey. I think THAT is what should be taken away from the comments of the front office and the fact that they are apart of the team and have been given the opportunities they have. Not to argue which number rank they are on the defensive depth chart. Comparing Prout and Golobeuf is about as good as Yevenko and Madiasky or Paliotta.
Weird. How many Gallants are there in Summerside?
Yes I can. I can also wonder why those other three teams didn't invite him to training camp this year or sign him outright.

Now I can see you have no idea what you're talking about. He was offered a 2-way contract 2 years ago, but decided to get an education. He was saying it multiple times in his interview. This offseason he chose Columbus cause he saw the best opportunity for himself.

#CBJ have sent D Yevenko, G Forsberg and G Korpisalo to @monstershockey. F Brett Gallant will go on waivers Sunday. if he clears, to AHL.
word.
What are your lines looking like for the start of the season?
