One of the dumbest statements I've ever read on here. Sorry, not trying to be a jerk, but this is just dumb.

Did you listen to the interview? well um, I uumm - the brain needs to process quicker than that to make a split second decision. Nerves - okay, maybe, but he did not come across at all.

Dumb statement - maybe to you. Depends on who you like to hire. I look for more.

Public speaking ≠ intelligence or cognitive speed.

Come on now. You're better than that.

K but we aren't hiring Colin white to public speak. We are hiring him to shoot around a rubber puck with a stick.

Interview after the Norris, Karlsson says 'you know' about forty times. I guess he's a little slow too...

Does not sound hockey-smart

Really Dumb statement. You don't play hockey with your tongue. Do you know what Hockey Smart is?

I respect your point of view. And the others who have also so indicated.

It is a subject I know more than a little about.

That said, I will be quite pleased if I'm proved incorrect by Colin White's play. I certainly hope we picked a future gem.

I speak quite eloquently and am considered quite a charmer.

But I have to work on my skating and lack composure with the puck on my stick.

Late first rounder with upside? Good at interviews, lousy at hockey...

Daniel Alfredsson says "uh" like it's going out of style. Never struck me as a moron.

Alfie also says' without question' 673 times an interview

People are so addicted to social media they think they can rate players by their interviews. White was all team, all the time, just like EK so what not to lie,p. He's a typical Sens pick, he slid a bit because of injury and they get a great value pick.

I get the impression that the Sens, and the other teams as well, put a lot of weight on player interviews and assessments of players' character. They obviously like this guy, and I don't think stupidity is something that they value in a player.

I don't think he will ever give a "sloppy seconds" interview, which by the way, was delivered clearly and concisely.

Oh, so you're an expert on using 30 second, "on-the-spot" generic media interviews to determine the full range of hockey IQ of an amateur hockey player?

Seems like a niche thing to focus a career on, but good on you!

It's amazing how critical some people can be over the silliest little things & project that into a player or prospects development. These kids are 18 yrs old & may never have been exposed to the kind of coverage they are now getting at the NHL level with so many cameras & reporters. I don't see how they can't be nervous & quite frankly scared to death at the process. I imagine that the 1st rounders & others at least will all get some media advice from their perspective teams now that they have been drafted. Hopefully, they'll get better at it with more experience & there is also that language issue with some that could take a little longer.

Knowing what I do now about his injury situation during this past year and how he was still able to compete at a high level, I'm thinking this is a pick that could really pay off. We all know about Mark Stone's draft year issues and how things turned around quickly afterwords.

Maybe not the highest ceiling but could still be a great pick for the spot we got him.

Ever heard of a guy named Rob Gronkowski? Go watch one of his interviews and then realize he's one of the most dominant players at his position in his sport. There are plenty of meatheads in the NHL who are amazing on-ice players.

And while White doesn't have much help because he's from Massachusetts and that's just how his voice has grown, he still managed to provide respectable answers throughout.

Bonk was right. Really dumb statement.

lol, got that right! That's the funnest part of having CenterIce, getting those Boston announcers for Bruins games. Doubles the entertainment value of hockey games easily.

I'll just leave this here...

http://www.matchsticksandgasoline.com/2009/6/18/913777/scouting-the-09-draft-ryan-oreilly

Eerily similar scouting reports, aside from the skating - which is actually one of White's strengths. Our recent drafts have made it clear where our priorities lie, and have shown the type of team we're looking to build. Like many others here, I was hoping for Konecny, but the more I read about White the more I like this pick. Whether it's homerism shining through or just genuine trust in our scouting staff, I'm satisfied!

Our scout says skill can be developed and he believes White will develop skill

I found that comment a little odd. I mean isnt White pretty skilled already and if C.Greening could develop skill wouldnt he?

Gronk is actually pretty intelligent. He hasn't spent a dime of his contract money with the Patriots, it's all saved up. He has only spent money from sponsors.
