Enstrom does not suck and is most certainly worth his contract . He is a very good player that is very underappreciated. He is however a LD only and a very bad Voynov replacement for that reason. LD/RD is not as easy to switch as people think, it is a much bigger change that even LW/RW. He also is not a great fit for the Kings that depend so much on board battles. He is very good at minimizing having to take them and can be effective in them since he is so smart, but just not a good fit with the Kings.

is big buff an option, with gabby's injury there to stay? the guy was mentioned here before, i even suspect he's got a secret cult of followers around here dreaming the same wet dreams as i do. big buff, another dustin, imo that's the biggest possible upgrade for 16 stanley.

Did they have hockey in mind when it was designed it or was it an after thought? The site lines look really odd.

Barcleys Center opened in 2012, designed for basketball not hockey. Most of the team live on Long Island and commute the 50 miles by train rather than drive. So it's one of the issues.

The below article is from October. SInce then I think the novelty of taking the train and the other stuff is wearing off. I've heard some reporters mention in podcasts that the players don't like the setup.

Something as simple (as cited in the below article) that on game day, most players go home after practice for a midday meal and nap. The isles stay at a hotel in Brooklyn.

And your right about the site lines

Because the arena was built for basketball and the Brooklyn Nets, the hockey sight lines are a bit different from the other rinks in the league. Some of what should be the best seats in the house have obstructed views, including the lower bowl, where it's hard to see into the corners. A few rows behind one net can be described as the best seats in hockey -- or the worst. In the first couple of rows you're over the glass, but a few seats back you can't see the net or the corners below. Lifelong Brooklyn native David Chimes spent $75 to sit in the Islanders' end directly behind the net. Normally that would be prime real estate at a hockey game, but from his third-row seat he could see only three-quarters of the ice. Everything from the top of the circles to the end boards was obstructed and he was forced to stand and lean over the railing when the play came closest to him.

McKenzie reporting that Jamie McGinn is available for a 2nd round pick. Even though we are loaded on left wing, that would be a great pick up. Imagine having Lucic, Pearson and McGinn as your three left wingers. That is one deep lineup.

Rather use a 2nd and upgrade the D. I like Russel in Calgary but his size concerns me and he would probably cost a decent prospect and 2nd.

Russell would be like the 9th best defenseman on the Kings roster. He is quite a bad player. Worse than Ehrhoff. He is a 6/7 that constantly gets trapped in his own end at best. He hurts the Kings D more than he helps it.

Dale Weise is a player that really intrigues me. I think he could flourish in LA. Plus he could probably be had for pennies on the dollar. It's a shame we don't have Weal anymore. Habs love them little guys.

Lucic - Kopitar - Brown
King - Carter - Toffoli
Pearson - Lecavalier - Weise
Clifford - Shore - Lewis

Nolan

And assuming Gaborik is ready to go if the Kings make the playoffs -

Lucic - Kopitar - Gaborik
Pearson - Carter - Toffoli
King - Lecavalier - Weise
Clifford - Lewis - Brown

Shore
Nolan

Would add a lot to the bottom 6.

So pretty much a finisher for the top line.
Cargo container to ship Brown to some distant land
2nd pairing... the whole thing...

Schenn is pretty much stuck with Martinez and is not a 2nd pairing you want for the playoffs.

Oh yeah and Pearson/King to remember they aren't Lewis.

Gabby coming back...

Not to get passed by AZ/Van in the standings.

Russel is one of the better defenseman potentially on the block according to Friedman. He compared him to Sekera and said he's a 5 million dollar defenseman if he hits the open market.

Dustin Brown in a nut shell...either top line or fourth

Sekera > Russel and it's not even close. I wonder if his comparison is more about supply of D than their game. Russell is about as one way stay at home as they come. His corsi is terrible (so is the teams though) and only way I want him is if the cost is very low.
Someone may pay him $5m just because there may not be alot out there, but it will be the worst contract signed this summer if that happens

So with Quick back guessing Budaj goes back to Ontario so LA will have an extra roster spot.
When is someone getting called up?
Like I said I think Mersch is the easy choice, but I would like to see Kempe get a couple of games.

I know it's an unpopular opinion, but I get the feeling DL is going to go hard--meaning roster player(s) and top prospect(s)--to fill that Voynov hole long-term (Trouba-type). That honestly would extend our competitive window imo, as well as shoring us up for this year. I think we're a first-round exit with our current d-core unless Doughty-Muzzin re-enact Duncan Keith circa 2015.

It's quiet, and Sutter's quotes and playtime distribution over the last several games (in addition to Gravel's callup and massive playtime) tell me something's up.

I would think Mersch but would like to see Dowd get some love too. But it's about winning games at this point not rewarding guys I think.

We're needing someone with the reasonable chance of scoring. Meaning Mersch up when Budaj comes down. But this team is missing an important piece. Without it, I agree, first-round exit.

I hope Gaborik is back by playoffs, but even if that happens, it will take some time for him to get going again after the injury and rust.

This will sound sarcastic but I am serious, at least he has experience coming back from injury.

It has to help with what to do to stay game ready off ice right?

Kopitar has 4 goals in the last 12 games, and 3 came in 1 game.
Toffoli has 1 in his last 12, and it bounced off his leg.
Carter has 1 in his last 13, and he wasn't even shooting it.
Lucic has 2 in the last 10, and 3 in 18.
Brown has 4 in 20, 3 of which were against the Coyotes, and a late goal in Boston.
Pearson has 1 in 17, and it was 3v3.
Lecavalier has 5 in 17, and 4 have come on the PP.
King has 2 in 14.
Lewis has 2 in 20.

4-7 since that Minnesota game at home, with 2 wins in OT, so 2-7 in regulation. Those 2 wins being blowouts, in Boston and Arizona, with some weird goals in them. 6-8 since the Ottawa game where they lost a 3-1 3rd period lead.

Nothing too solid going on for the Kings in the last month or so.
