Hamonic for Trouba would have made sense, since Hamonic wants Western Canada and when Byf got his new deal, given Trouba wants (reportedly) a 7M per LTC, that he would be shopped, Hamonic's deal is much friendlier, but that hasn't happened. Elliotte Friedman (a few days back) said it perhaps on both sides, the Isles wanted a plyer with term and the Jets wanted more than Hamonic for Trouba..

And maybe because the Isles already have Boychuck and Leddy on LTC's...but if the Jets determine Trouba is not able to be signed, he'll should net a fairly good return .

I think Trouba has great upside , but can't see how the Kings would fit that 7M or thereabouts into their CAP, not with trying to sign Lucic and also Toffoli and Pearson (among others) coming up.

Speaking of the Isles, one of the NY reports noted that Tavares (like many ofhis teammates) doesn't like the Brooklyn setup and theorized how that would affect his next contract (this one is up in 2018) He'd be a good catch for somebody...love his game.

Did they have hockey in mind when it was designed it or was it an after thought? The site lines look really odd.

Some fun stats re: Doughty's performance this year. He's been a beast, and franky, our D-core is shaky to say the least, he's holding it together. I wouldn't be shocked to see a prominent forward sacrificed for a prominent D.

This year, his regular partner is McNabb. He only gets Muzzin late in some games when the bench is short.

Doughty has 154 minutes with Muzzin this year, 870 with McNabb.

And this year practically every stat is better away from Muzzin. That's part of why his year is so impressive, McNabb has been garbage more often than not.

5v5
Doughty with McNabb--870 minutes. 29 GF, 21GA. 58 GF%. 58.9 CF%.
DD without McNabb--274 minutes. 11 GF, 10 GA. 52.4 GF%. 59.5 CF%
McNabb without DOughty--76 minutes. 3 GF, 4 GA. 42.9 GF%. 43.7 CF%

Doughty with Muzzin--154 minutes. 5 GF. 6 GA. 45.5 GF%. 57.4 CF%.
DD without Muzzin--991 minutes. 35 GF. 25 GA. 58.3 GF%. 59.3 CF%.
Muzzin without DD--788 minutes. 25 GF. 28 GA. 47.2 GF%. 57 CF %.

That's Doughty's impact on the only two Kings d-men with a positive CF% rel.

Just Doughty, in comparison, is now tied for top-10 in d-man scoring and is tied for 7th in goals. People want to mock his scoring--there it is. On top of that, (using 500 min as a cutoff) he's leading the league in CF% for d-men with 58.9%. His shot suppression is elite; his CA/60 is 43.7, 6th amongst d-men, while his CF/60 is 62.6, still 6th amongst d-men, illustrating his two-way play.

People wanted to point to Muzzin and pretend he was carrying Doughty but they've been split up this year so Muzzin could man the 2nd pairing with Martinez and Doughty could carry around a #4 in McNabb who has been up and down (more often than not a boat anchor though). And, now that they're apart, Muzzin is good, but Doughty is showing he's great pumping McNabb's stats up with him--Doughty's CF% Rel is 6.3%, 5th amongst d-men, which has to be impressive given his team is crushing everyone at 56.4%. In contrast, Muzzin is 29th at 3.1%, his own partner McNabb is 0.5, and all other Kings d-men are negative. All of this while playing 28:01 a game (third behind Karlsson and Suter), including 2:55 SH/TOI a game (only regularly mentioned "elite" guy ahead of him is Pietrangelo).

Man I'm starting to freak out....

option 1 Trouba...
Martinez + Pearson for Trouba + would get it done... in order to resign Trouba, Martinez pretty much has to be going back and WPG needs a LHD... maybe throw in something for Ladd to replace Pearson this playoff.

Bargain Bin...
Gilbert (MTL) Right handed... um... might be an upgrade on Schenn?

Then whats got me really freaking out... Lombadi just hit big money on a Reclamation Project...
Mark Fayne @ 50%.... it gets better...
Justin Schultz....

No way this happens... Thought the same about VL... but that worked out...

The only thing possibly worse is picking up a LHD as I don't see how it ends up any other way then McNabb/Schenn.... this potential pairing gives me nightmares...

What about that Dalton Prout guy? I mean if you're matching up with the Ducks in the playoffs a guy that broke Stewart's jaw could come in handy.

Well, I know I'd be talking small sample, but Forbort Corsi stats are very good. First, his CF is 62. His CF with DD is 65. Away from DD it's still 60, and yes, he has played 20 more minutes than McNabb away from DD. Also his CFRel is 6.5, higher than DD. Also, I'll point out McBain is treading positive in CFRel at 0.4, but yes, as you pointed out, negatives. I would also like to say that as long as Gravel is paired with Schenn, his Corsi stats will be a nightmare. I found it odd that Schenn's CFRel in the NJ game was -25! You know how hard that it is to do? Next to impossible!!

I don't think you thought this one through. You're trying to trade for a RHD, by trading Martinez, who has been playing on the right side.

IF (big if) Winnipeg would accept that deal my concern would be Trouba's extension. Sounds like he is looking for big money no bridge. On paper it makes sense trading a LHD that plays the right side for a younger RHD with huge upside.
I just do not know if it helps the kings for this year's cup run, maybe in the offseason though

Hamhuis probably makes the most sense from a pure rental perspective, but he's as good as gone in the offseason too. Doubt we get in a bidding war for him.

McNabb Schenn pairing would be played entirely in our own zone. Nobody to break the puck out (i.e. DD), both too slow to get to loose pucks, and many ill advised passes when and if they do get the puck. I'm with you on this one. Gilbert would be a definite upgrade on Schenn.

The Hawks just waived Rob Scuderi... ;)

Now that's interesting.

Usually at the trading deadline, the cost never makes sense.

true, but the last two season has seen a bit of the opposite (sekera deal aside) league wide. Seems like 2nd round picks are the new 1st round as far as value is concerned.

nope he has looked godo as a #5 IMO but it's a #4 + depth LA should be after

Gravel might turn into a hero.

McNabb / Doughty

Muzzin / Gravel

Martinez / Schenn

(Did I get the handedness correct? :sarcasm: )

I wonder what it would take to get Enstrom?

Kempe, Forbort, and a 1st round pick in 2017?

Enstrom's contract would run for this year and the next 2 years hereafter. That, IMHO, fits the King's Cup window perfectly. He could conceivably be Voynov's replacement....

LoL, in a perfect world, Dean uses his Jedi Mindtrick ability to give them Brown.... :P

McNabb / Doughty

Muzzin / Enstrom

Martinez / Schenn

Gravel
