When Forbort was up here, was he really worse than either McBain or Ehrhoff? I don't remember ever telling myself, "that damned Forbort! He should be traded immediately!". Yeah, I don't remember that.

Thoughts?

I agree. Also, Gravel has played much better since being paired with Forbort in Ontario. Gravel has played well though also, and deserves a shot somewhere, if not with us, with someone else. The real question here is, "Will the Kings finally drop the notion of they need an experienced slow older D for the playoffs, or will they finally play Gravel or Forbort plenty of games to get them as ready as possible for the playoffs?" They could have already had both playing lots of games all season long, but their experiments with McBain, Ehrhoff, and now even Schenn are gobbling up games that these two could have been playing in and gaining experience and much needed confidence.

So, I think we can say we're building around Doughty, Muzzin, Martinez, McNabb. One of Schenn/Greene. One of Forbort/Gravel. Something to that effect.

I know it was controversial for a rental like Buff, but would you guys do something like Pearson, Forbort, 2017 1st for a longer term guy like Myers/Trouba/Shattenkirk etc.? I wouldn't even be opposed to moving a prospect like Kempe for a Shattenkirk type. Or McNabb, since theoretically the incoming guy would be taking a spot next to Muzzin or Martinez on the 2nd pairing.

I think Kempe should be held on to for as long as humanly possible, like Toffoli pre-2013. Kempe has the potential to be a first line winger in this league, IMO.

Don't get me wrong, I certainly agree and I'm very high on Kempe; but you have to give to get and he's one of our only remaining assets that would have the value to net a big fish.

It's the million dollar question for DL to answer. That would definitely put us "all in".

I would feel Zykov is more likely to be traded than Kempe is, pretty sure Mersch and Kempe are the "untouchables" as far as forwards go.

Why would the Kings go after Ladd? We need defense not another center.

[Cheveldayoff], not surprisingly, offered no hints Monday after the Byfuglien announcement. Sources say the Jets and Ladd’s camp have kept communication open, but that hardly means a deal is close to getting done. In fact, if anything, the Byfuglien signing has only cranked up more Ladd speculation, including rumours the Los Angeles Kings — who were also thought to be in on any potential Byfuglien trade discussion — may now turn their attention to the Jets captain.

I would if Dl can still balance the cheque book. I'd like us to re sign Lucic, which would be made pretty difficult if we're picking up a good dman.

Yes, but I doubt any of those other teams would. Unfortunately with the injury and the way he has looked since it happened I don't see any reason why those teams make that deal with Tanner as the center piece.

Ladd has never played center nor would he ever be an option for a team at center. He is only ever been a LW at the NHL level.

Does anyone know whether Buffy could still be traded before the deadline? I don't think he has a NTC/NMC does he?

Byfuglien has a no movement clause that is effective immediately and goes through to the end of the 17-18 season. Has a limited no movement clause after that for the final three years.

I always thought he was a center for some reason. Anyways, like I said, we have a more urgent need on defense and trading for him would be a waste of assets.

The stuff about Ladd sounds more to me like a reporter speculating to write a story, I think the instincts of the people on this forum are more accurate then this article. The Kings were definitely interested on Buff but that's obviously not going to happen now, and the Jets are probably more interested in sending us Ladd then we are of getting him.

Yeah, I just see it as the lines of communication are already open, so Ladd has probably been at least peripherally discussed (maybe the potential deal was bigger).
