Is Myers more "available" now that Butfug is locked up?

It's possible, but Myers is still young, Enstrom is the old kid on the block. Also don't forget that they gave up a buttload to get Myers and wouldn't necessarily part with him for anything less so soon. But man would be be a godsend as a #3 for us right now.

Personally I consider it unlikely. I think Chevy is in love with his d-corps, even though they are playing average and are chronically misused by Maurice.

Meh, not really. Bogosian and Kane are low hockey IQ players that did not really fit in Winnipeg (I'd been saying that for 3 years before trade as well). And Jets got lots back besides Myers.

Jets can't give up Enstrom though. He is the only LD and Maurice seems to hate playing one of the top 3 RD on their off-side (Byfuglien, Trouba, Myers). Yet he has no problem playing any of the really bad defensemen the Jets have on their off-side (LD's Stuart, Chiarot and last year Harrison, none of which are above #7/8 at best defenders).

Agreed Myers would be a solid fit as #3 for the Kings. The cap is a problem though. What make Buff plausible was his UFA status. Right now the Kings don't have cap room to add anybody with term.

Neither Meyers or Enstroms cap will fit in with LA going forward.

Well no #3 defenseman can get less than 4 million a year, so if Meyers' 5.5 is a problem, gotta make up the difference somewhere like the bottom 6.

That's a hole DL has been looking to fill since Voynov and it's very clear to the eye these days why.

Just spit balling, so I'm ready to hear a million and one reasons no, but what about Keith Yandle? Arizona is already retaining 50% salary.

I agree, but I think if a D man with north of $5M is brought in than A-mart will have to be moved out...So then we are still looking for a #4, however may have an upgraded 1-3.

he's been brought up.
DL obviously loves the guy, but would depend on cost IMO.
I would Love him but I think the rangers would be lookign to recoup some of the high price they paid.
At the end of the day even if it costs King I would probably ***** about it but then be ok once Yandle gets handed the cup

Enstrom is not speedy. I mean AT ALL. One of the slower players on the Jets in fact. But certainly does NOT get worked in the corners. He is really good in the corners, very smart and effective. Clearly the front of the net is a term that needs to join employing enforcers back in the 90's. Not how it works anymore, it's all about positioning and gets sticks in lanes. He is very good defensive d-man that is effective in the corners, keeps attacks outside, moves the puck up the ice really well, and is almost always in the right position. Just not the most effective fit in the Kings system though, IMO and he's LD.

Bogosian has the same problem as Jack Johnson. All tools, no toolbox. Not a player Kings should really target, IMO.

Was he quick at one point in time? And I didn't realize he was 31. I will try to watch a jets game this week, I guess I don't watch them enough...

Nope not really. He used to be quicker, but he was never speedy*. His game is all based on how smart a player he is. He is very good positionally and is sneakily effective at body position and winning battles. Just makes smart plays all over the ice.

*-Note that speed and quickness are two very different things. His speed has never been good (its not bad, it's just not notably good). He is used to be decently quick/agile, but now he is not even particularly quick/agile (again not bad, just not notably good either).

Lebrun's comments literally say we were 'all in' on Buff before his re-signing. Damn. But I do feel a little bit validated even if I'm annoyed, haha.

He also goes on to mention there's really nothing else out there for us, maybe Hamhuis or Polak, but either is a stretch and we may do nothing. It is what it is, I guess.

I could see Hamhuis. Also if Yandle is made available (doubtful)

I'm just not a fan of Hamhuis as you saw earlier but I guess if he plays down the lineup it helps our depth so eh...have to think another team would go harder for him though plus the high cost in-division....Yandle I can't see going right now with McDonagh down, Shattenkirk I can't see going right now with Pietrangelo down...everyone is in stuck mode

When Forbort was up here, was he really worse than either McBain or Ehrhoff? I don't remember ever telling myself, "that damned Forbort! He should be traded immediately!". Yeah, I don't remember that.

Thoughts?

Christian Ehrhoff (LAK) on waivers.

has to be trade as it's odd timing being out East and having three games in less than 4 days coming up.
If the AHL team was still out East it would make more sense with not trade because call up would be quicker.

Gravel being called up shows how further ahead he is over a stiff like Forbort. A shame they burned a 1st round selection on him. Hopefully Gravel makes up for it and proves he belongs in the NHL. Seems like he has a lot more going for him in terms of skillset and physicality and willing to engage against opponents, things that are a foreign concept to Forbort.

maybe they want to see where Gravel is at in the NHL before deciding on any trades or to set up their off season game plan.
Forbort got a sweet jersey on the draft stage. Thought LA would at least ice it once that year but no.

My thoughts exactly, YP. That and they must read Jason Lewis' column, heh.

Last night I almost posted, "Islanders game in New York? Time for one of our rookies to score his first NHL goal." Didn't post that since we didn't have any goalless rookies on the roster.

Excited to see Gravel up. I'm also interested in seeing if we're going to see Budaj on an emergency call-up. Assuming that happens, the Reign will have an ECHL goalie in Houser and ?? Thought I saw a headline about an AHL team having to use a beer-league goalie one game. Didn't read the story, though.

I feel bad about Ehrhoff, but I can't say I didn't see this coming. I wish him the best and maybe we'll see him back up later, if not claimed.

Ehrhoff getting waived immediately like that speaks volumes to me. Middle of a 3 in 4 nights on the east coast? Sutter must have been as disgusted as I was last night.

Very excited to see Gravel, and I agree that this means we're trying to see what we have in him/Forbort before doing anything else (or, that Forbort is on the move today ;) ).
