Gaborik stays , Brown goes . Once Brown is off this team we will be anle to sign Lucic and Schenn and still have room to bring in someone else

How exactly do you think Dean will rid himself of Brown's contract?

What about
Brown +2nd to the Oilers for
Fayne + 2nd?

Oilers get a gritty RW/LW that can play with Hall/Drai or McJ/Yak, bring some vet leadership. (edit 2: with these lines Brown will be able to produce... I promise)

Kings buyout Fayne... should be a 4 year hit at around 1.2M... would be similar to the Kings retaining on Brown.

When guys start asking for crazy cash at UFA time maybe Brown's 5.875-1.2=4.675 won't look that bad.

Edit: Swap 2nd's because Brown at 4.6 has some value.

I love how easy some of you think it is going to be to move Dustin Brown. Tell us how, without the pie in the sky stuff.

Brown will be moved only if Kings fail or flop. Hell will freez before Lombradi trades Brown if this team is competing and winning.

I thnk you mean Brown will be moved only if another team is off their rocker and wants his contract.
He is a serviceable player but he is very overpaid for a very long time.

I mean Brown could be traded when Kings start to declain.
While Kings are seriously contending or winning cups with Brown as cap. I can't see Lombardi even trying to trade Brown.
Can anybody picture Kings winning cup and after that Lombardi trading him? Thats like completly opposite of who Lombardi is.

Some of you guys seriously don't know what the **** you are talking about.

Brown isn't going anywhere. We are stuck with him until 2022. Know why? Because he has a limited NTC/NMC. We don't know when it kicks in/out, nor how many teams and which teams are on it. However, for the sake of argument, let's say we can do it this summer and there are eight teams on the list. Considering the other team's needs/wants/desires, we would likely need to retain 50% salary and sweeten the pot with someone like Pearson.

Anyone here want to lose Pearson just to rid ourselves of that contract? Didn't think so. So just stop with the "move Brown" posts. As much as I would like to see that, I would also like to win the Powerball tonight.

Not gonna happen. Reality blows.

if you win the powerball can you buy out Brown's contract?

the only concern with this roster at this point in time should be health

as in, can they stay healthy long enough to win the cup

worry about all this other stuff in the offseason

All this for just one more shot at one more cup? I thought Kopitar was signed through the remainder of this season.

For this kind of money Kopitar had better make the Kings contenders for several more seasons.

a lot of assumptions here. a handful of people pointed to Kopitars numbers last year and used them as evidence of "regression", he's proved all of them wrong so far this season. with the way he plays, I dont think its at all unreasonable to suggest he will be a truly effective #1C until hes 34-35. ***** and moan about his contract all you want, he wouldve gotten the same or more on the free market and we'd be without our best player. cant have it both ways

You are assuming too though, if fact, way more than I am. It's more likely he won't be as productive as he ages. It's common sense. Not only does a large contract obstruct our future, but it also has an effect as soon as he signs it. We won't be able to afford some of the guys that are needed to win now. It's going to be much more difficult resigning Lucic, who has been a huge part our success this season. I'm not saying we should let Kopitar walk either. It's just too bad for us that his asking price is so high and we can't really do much about it. Not really *****ing about this either; I understand this team has no choice as there aren't many top centers available right now.

I think this year is the last year of being a favorite.

Next few years we should absolutely be contenders because Quick has proven he can carry this team when we suck eggs.

Beyond that...well, at least we'll be a lottery team, not a black hole team :P

How much money is Kopitar going to give Quick. No, Kopi took the money, now HE better show up in top condition at the beginning of every season and put the team on his shoulders when they suck eggs.

Because he hasn't put the team on his shoulders for the last 10 years right

Amusing though, I've never seen a fan lose their mind like this over their team resigning their franchise player.

Well, he won't be moved with that attitude.

Once teams start trying to sign UFA's like Okposo (rumored to be asking 7), the teams that miss out on one of the high profile guys will start looking at guys like Brown that are available. A team like the Oilers, who don't have to worry about production because they have enough between all their first overall picks will start looking at Brown in the 4M range (salary retained)

Kings retaining 2M on Brown still frees 3.8M. He's been passed on the depth chart by almost every winger on the team. Maybe Nolan/Mersch haven't passed him yet. I'd take Clifford over Brown because he's only 1.6M.

If Brown doesn't want to waive his NTC that's cool, he can always be sent down/benched when Kempe passes him.

For this team to be competitive they have to move Brown's salary.

Besides, I fully expect Brown to regain his play after he's moved. No longer having the weight of the captaincy will allow him to focus on what made him a successful hockey player.

You must not have been around last season.

having a player play 1000 games with one organization is a big deal...LA could have to on this current team in brown and kopitar.
This is the best kings team in the history of the org...lets enjoy it
