With good reason.

Throwing players who can barely play at the AHL level into prime roles isn't going to help anyone.

Injuries to the big club have played a massive role too. But there's no cavalry coming, unless the Oilers draft euros this coming draft year that can play in the AHL at 18. We have zero forward prospects in junior hockey and only a few like Vesel and Campbell in the college ranks. Might see another boatload more playing time.

I don't see Hunt being brought back. The Oilers are knee deep in defensive prospects.

Speaking of injuries, Pitlick lives! Back in the lineup and scored a goal.

My relationship with the Oilers is abusive.

Saw on twitter that Khaira was suspended 2 games for kneeing. Anyone have any detail on this, what happened?

Pitlick a 2 goals and an assist in 2 games (1 g, 1 a today). Shame health got him, but could be rebounding

Klink with same stats in last 2 games. Hell be back up soon I think

Klink knows he's playing for another NHL deal right now. If the Oilers stay healthy - lol - there's no spot for him.

Kiss of death right there.

Should be hearing on the Bakersfield twitter feed any minute now about Pitlick blowing out both knees after hitting the toilet.

This team needs to sign Winquist. Seems like a guy who could be a decent complimentary type player, and never hurts to have some depth.

Also glad that Laurikainen seems to be playing good since returning (albeit very small sample size). I thought he looked pretty bad in the rookie games, so I'm glad he's getting going.

Winquist has 10 points (6 goals, 4 assists) in 11 games lol. Sign the man already, thats pretty great production. Hes quickly moving up to be our 3rd or 4th best forward prospect.

If hes signed by another team :help:

This. Winquist needs an ELC.

Bill Scott needs to be in Chiarelli's ear about this on a daily basis.

He's actually at 11 points in 11 games. He was one of the more impressive guys in the rookie camp for us. Showed some hockey smarts, ability to make a play and some finish. His skating could use a little work still, but considering our forward prospect depth he should have been signed already.

Laurikainen with another strong performance this afternoon. 42 saves on 45 shots.

Hes kind of the forgotten guy. Solid in FEL, solid in AHL thus far

Ideally Brossoit takes lion share of starts rest of this season. Then next season, Brossoit either grabs back up role out of camp or in brought up after 20 games and Eetu gets majority of starts in 2016-17. Maybe bring back Scribbles or a AHL vet to back up Eetu

Pitlick looked surprisingly good today given the number of games he's missed was expecting a lot more rust.

If Josh Winquist is the Oilers 3rd or 4th best forward prospect, blow up the system. Sloooooooooooooow. He scored on a 4-on-3 powerplay that he was wide open for. Great shot though. Other than that, he didn't show much more than effort. Did I mention that he's slooooooow?

Klinks on fire too. 2 goals, 1 assist already. He wants back in the NHL

Klinkhammer was in beast mode the whole game. Easily the best player on the ice today and it wasn't even close.

Laurikainen was very good today. He really only had to make one great save in the game, as most of the best chances went wide of the net, but sound positionally and didn't panic.

Oilers forward prospects are easily last in the league  So yeah its time to rethink our drafting of forwards

Well, that's just it  We hardly have anyone in the AHL to call up, and with no forward prospects playing junior hockey this year, no one's coming anytime soon, either.

Hopefully Chia doesn't have as big a fetish for BCHL coke machines.

Sorry state of affairs.

Indeed. Those there's not really any note worthy talents down there.

Though I'd be a little scared at how the team's being managed. We can see that they're using an all vet top line and defence pairing. None of the top 5 scorers on the team (Hunt, Ford, Miller, Hamilton, Oesterle) are ever going to be NHL caliber, and it's not that outlandish to think that none of them will back with the team next year.

Honestly, (outside of Kessy) I wouldn't be opposed to letting every UFA/RFA skater at the minor league level walk at the end of the season. Sign one "AAAA" forward and defenceman, and call that your vet core.

Hell, even going with guys we've seen over the years...

Winquist-Arcobello/Moran-Platzer
Slepyshev-Yakimov-Stretch
Moroz-Khaira-Chase

Reinhart-Potter
Simpson-Laleggia
Betker-Paigin

Is a better balanced team that what you see now, and actually features chances for younger guys to play key roles.

Osterle and Musil have been really good as of late. JJ (Khaira) is also a very physical and good player. Winquist is extremely fast and is defensive as well. Slep prior to being injured has not really done anything that says wow.

Granted I haven't seen him play since the early games, but I didn't notice any grave speed issues. Is this something that has affected him since he got back? I never thought he was fast. If anything he looked just average.
