Ugh im gonng hate the Oil

they're gonna end up drafting a guy like Laine to play with McJesus
trade Eberle for Hamonic
trade RNH for Brodin.

Edmonton has to add a lot for both Harmonic and Brodin. One might happen, I doubt both happen. But I bet Oil fans are dreaming about an off season like that.

I dont know RNH for Brodin is a pretty good swap. Minny can afford to lose him because they signed what's his face from college.

They may have to add for Ham because Ebs is a significant cap hit
but then again the Isles might lose Okposo so they could absorb it'

Eberle probably doesn't get them Hamonic. Nurse+ may though.

Then swap Eberle for Simmonds and RNH for a dman like Brodin/Shattenkirk; and that team would be cooking with gas. Depending on how they fill out the bottom 6 that could be a playoff team:

Simmonds - McDavid - Yakubov
Hall - Draisaitl - Finns/Tkachuk

Klefblom - Hamonic
Sekera - Brodin/Shatty
Davidson

Honestly, I've done 2-3 before and they didn't go off (forgot if I had 2 re-occuring and 1 manual that night or not). Why? Because I had turned off the volume on my phone while I was out that night and forgot to turn it back on when I got to my hotel.

Missed my flight because of it...

I guess it's possible but seems remote and unlikely. I read it as three separate devices rather than multiple alarms on one device.

I believe if Chiarelli offered RNH for Brodin the Wild would be stupid not to make that trade

Doubt the Flyers would make that trade

EDM needs to begin the mass exodus of those players...they arent to blame imo..but they could shore up their blueline in an instant if they can find some takers for RNH and Eberle..and maybe Yak

Oilers need to build their offense around McDavid, Draisaitl and their 2016 pick.

Yakupov, Hall and RNH have to go...and all 3 trades must serve to build defense. They really missed the boat with Seth Jones.

Honestly if the oilers get the 1st overall pick I think they're gonna try really hard to get OEL from Arizona. I'm not too familiar with Arizona's defense outside OEL but I think the 1OA and RNH would be more than enough in terms of value. Not saying they'll absolutely do it but I'd hate for something like this to happen.

I think there's a reason why you aren't familiar with Arizona's defense outside of OEL.

BaZing!

I guess one good thing that could come out of EDM getting another no. 1 pick is that it might
force the league to again come up with a new draft rule. Like a team cant pick no. 1 in consecutive seasons
or 3 straight years or something.
Dont they do do that in the NBA?
They could give the team an option too. Like say if you drafted 1st overall last year and had the top pick again
you could surrender it so you can have a chance at the top pick next year.

I can see this bothered you. Sorry to talk bad about your boy. You know...the Wild goaltender.

yep, that's what bothered me...

or perhaps I prefer to look forward to the time when my favorite team is actually good enough to be better than their rival based on merit and not merely the hopeful failure of a player due to a league wide rule change.

Why would they get rid of Hall? He's like a poor man's version of Kane

Why would they get rid of Hall?

Because he's one of the face of the previous, failed, rebuild so he's knee deep in the "losing culture" that they need to get rid of. Also, they have to give quality to get quality and Hall is their premium trade bait to get first pairing D.

Im not sure there is a team out there that would trade a no. 1 D for Hall. I cant think of one...ANA?

Depends on what your definition of a #1 is. An elite #1 like Doughty/OEL/Keith/Karlsson/Subban does not get moved for Hall. But if we're talking players who could potentially be that/are starting to become that like Lindholm/Faulk/Josi/Ristolainen/Reilly, then I could see a trade being acceptable. Not that it'd be straight 1-for-1, in certain deals a team would have to add

I really don't know why the Oilers would move Hall. I think that's a mistake. RNH, Yak, and Eberle seem like the obvious chouces before him, to me. RNH is especially redundant with McDavid on the team.

You can move RNH to the wing if need be. Hall will arguably bring back a better return, especially if they're looking at getting a RHD.

Eberle needs to go regardless, and Yak is a lost cause.

Shifting to the wing would help, but the redundancy is also in that he's kind of a cerebral player and playmaker. It doesn't really get much better than McDavid in either of those two categories.

They need to become more multi dimensional. Obviously D is an issue but they need some heavy but capable offensively 3rd line tweeners. The Avs had the same problem for years but now look much better since they've added Soda, Comeau, and Matthias.

Then again it's fine with me if they want to keep sucking. As long as they implement that no multiple 1st overall picks rule. So ridiculous how much talent they've wasted.

I agree. RNH they can afford to trade and Eberle none of these guys are core pieces like Hall.

I always like what I see from Connor Murphy when we play them. Seems incredibly tough to play against and a real pain in the ass. Kinda like what they hoped Siemens would be, only Murphy was taken 9 spots later in the same draft.

He seems to take some heat though, which always confuses me. I don't watch him enough to get a good read on his play. Maybe the Avs are just one of those teams he ratchets his play up against.

He needs to add quite a bit more strength and he puts himself in bad/vulnerable positions sometimes (turning his back to the ice in the corner) and he looks like Sid from Toy Story. He skates pretty well and is tall with good reach. I could see him going either way as he gets more NHL time.
