Maybe he will report after all because he's getting no playing time in Ontario ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

That was what I proposed could happen earlier in one of these threads. Either Cernak plays well enough to prove he belongs, or he gets restless from not getting any playing time and agrees to go to Erie.

Very nice write up. It's clear that Mersch-Dowd-Zykov is the #1 line, but Strothers breaking them up to spread the wealth. Disappointed in Brodzinski so far, seems to be over-matched a bit, but he is learning the pro game. It doesn't help that he has been playing the wing without skill forwards around him. If Lowry joins the ranks, it will help with offensive depth.

I noticed Ebert sitting on the bench the other day while LoVerde-Leslie ran one PP, and Schultz-Backman the other. Little surprised Ebert does not get some PP time.

I hope Leslie does not sit again. He has some serious skill, needs to hon in his D play. Sabourin brings nothing to the table in what I saw.

This team has a lot of grinders. Hopefully there is some skill in the AHL pipeline.

Mersch, then Dowd, are the most NHL ready in my book. Dowd is underrated around here and a very smart hockey player.

Thanks! I've actually been pleased by Brodzinski. As you mentioned, he's played mostly without skill forwards (a lot of Horvat, Bissonnette, Samuels-Thomas), so I don't expect him to shine offensively yet. What I've been impressed by is his commitment to the forecheck/backcheck. He's been more effective in this area than I expected, and it's this type of commitment that will get him promoted to a scoring line where I think he will produce.

Yea, the team will be in some trouble when Mersch gets called up. Still a very disciplined defensive group, but certainly lacking last year's offensive riches.

?? I think he was asking who sits in Ontario if Forbort gets 2 games this weekend.

That makes more sense. The Defense trickle down continues

Can you imagine if we hadn't traded C. Miller? What the hell are we going to do with all these solid players?

Can sit Schultz. Forbort is the NHL vet now :sarcasm:

Yep, I figure he'd be 1st pairing. Not sure who the 6-7-8.. dmen, what the pecking order is. Maybe someone joins Lintuniemi in Manchester?

Curious how AL has looked so far as well. Haven't seen anything about Manchester yet. I see that our old pal David Kolomatis (LA 2009 5th round #126) is back.

Losing Newbury will be a big blow to the Reign. But, curious to see how Kempe does at center. Cznarecki also reporting that Joel Lowry is out of his no contact jersey at practice.

moving kempe to c right move. will work out well. longterm i think he is more suited to the middle, little bit like how carter is.

3x as many SOG but reign still down 0-1 in the 3rd

With Weal and O'Neill gone, plus O'Brien, and Newbury out, and Zykov and Brodzinski being rookies, they've got their work cut out for them. Even Kempe is a rook of sorts. Vet scorers are Mersch and Backman.

The whole organization needs to mandate that all players start wearing shot blockers. I know some players are but this is a preventable injury in many cases with them.

They're simple too, you don't even notice them while skating, ESPECIALLY the Pronger/carbon fiber ones...unless you're Martinez and trip over it like he did earlier today

Nice quality vids.

Mersch with some good moves. Brodzinski noticeable a couple times. Samuels-Thomas got a monster hit leveled on him. Nic Dowd's slicing of two defenders was a thing of beauty.
