I hope they can forget yesterday's game and just go out and humiliate Germany later today. Canada won 10 to nothing, Sweden can atleast go out and put 11 goals in the net.

Yeah. I hope to see some stat-padding today. Eriksson is quetly leading this team in scoring and he's quietly going to be just outside the top-10 in all-time scoring from a Swedish player at the WC after this tournament. OEL leads all D in scoring, like he should. I hope the youngsters pot a couple as well.

When I expect goals it usually turns out to be a tight low scoring game instead.

We are having some serious goalie problems this year.

2010: Gustafsson 93.7% (6 GP), Markstrom 94.4% (3 GP)
2011: Fasth 94.6% (7 GP), Ersberg 87.3% (1 GP)
2012: Fasth 90.2% (6 GP), Enroth 86.8% (2 GP) - 2012 was an epic failure with a stacked team, out in QF
2013: Enroth 95.6% (7 GP), Markstrom 93.4% (3 GP)
2014: Nilsson 93.8% (9 GP)

2015: Nilsson 89.1% (2 GP), Enroth 87.5% (2 GP)

This is not looking good at all... Lundqvist will probably not come even if NYR is eliminated. Will they bring in anyone else or stay with two keepers if Lundqvist is not available?

Enroth's percentage doesn't really mirror the truth. He is probably getting the start tonight against Germany, and probably later against Switzerland who will be the last "real test" before the elimination rounds. If he has a good game against Switzerland he's probably our starter moving forward.

I am not sure if I agree. WHC short and it is necessary to be at the top of you game once you're here. That is why we normally see a higher than average SV% in the WHC than in normal seasons.

Enroth let in one real soft one against CZE, the backhand on "his side" making it 4-4. On another occasion he should have been positioned better, for Jagr's redirect he was late positioning himself, I know Jagr has a big butt and was in his sight but he could have done better there in anticipating.

I know it is difficult and those could have been goals against many keepers but they should not have been in a championship. The rest of the games from here on to the QF don't matter really. We played two quality opponents, using two different keepers and let in a total of 11 goals... That is not good enough by any measure.

When the games are played like the ones against Czechs and Canada you can throw sv% out the window. It's a team thing, how you commit to defense. So far we have committed to offense.

Last year, we scored 25 goals up and including the semifinal. We have 24 goals in four games so far.

This team is weak mentally. There really isn't a leader on the forward side. We would have needed an established center to get anywhere this tournament.

Or Pekka Rinne. But the finns seem to find a way to lose even with him in the net.

How would an Swedish AHL-team do in the WC?

Nylander - Lindberg - Klingberg
Friberg - W.Karlsson - Arvidsson
Pääjärvi - Rasmussen - Åberg
Schumacher - Sundström - Persson

Lööv - Granberg
Alm - Tom
Hägg - Claesson

Forsberg
Hellberg

Loss in the bronze-match? This team would be funny to watch....lots of speed and hustle upfront and physical as hell in the back-end.

Markström and Ericsson in goal. Markström has been excellent this season.

A bit off topic but I don't think I've ever heard Du gamla du fria being sung this loudly at an international hockeygame before.
Loud, proud, boozing swedes are usually only seen at international football games. What is happening?

I had to cringe yesterday when Wikegård & Sanny Lindström were shooting **** saying "let's get a big win tomorrow against Germany", and Sanny ending with "dem är värdelösa!" :shakehead

EDIT: Or was it Rönnqvist? Either way, bläh.

Not the first time I get irritated by Ros, he is such a bad journalist. After a win and a goal he says to klingberg, "people at home think you are to sloopy" and suggest that he should go to a psychologist.

Swedes seems to complain about mistakes in every tournament. It is time to realize that mistakes is part of the game. I have no problem with offensive mistakes like the one Klingberg did, because when you try to create you take chances and therefore mistakes will happen. If he wouldnt have done that he wouldnt have scored either, it is so easy to say afterwards that he should have played more safe, but playing safe all the time will lead to scoring zero goals.

Defensive mistakes in the own zone is off course much worse, especially when it become so many of them as it was against canada, but it will always happens from time to time, no matter what players you put on the ice. A player can be good even if he do some mistakes.

Klingberg get way to much critic right now. He has overall been more than ok. His defensive is overall good, what I want to see more from him is his offensive.

I remember another Swedish defenseman who got slammed for his unsteady defense...

2010-05-14 (after the first 4 games in WHC 2010)
Pääjärvi, what a player.. :amazed:

But that ****ing trash ('sopan') Erik Karlsson, what the **** is he doing on this team?
Really good offensively, the worst ever defensively
When they're on, they're on - but when they have an off game they lose pucks left and right. Erik was useless against the Czechs.
Karlsson has had two very disappointing games in a row...

Had higher hopes for the guy after the enormous hype in the NHL.
I think Karlsson is just mentally drained after his first long nhl season and playoffs. He hasn't looked as bad as some of you are saying, he is just having a few brain cramps in the defensive zone.
Karlsson - High-risk player. Maybe this placement is a bit low, but it comes from poor defensive awareness at times.

We could bring up Hedman as well but then the post would be too long.

Klingberg will be fine, he has been playing a little bit too risky lately but this is the time to do those kinds of mistakes. Klefbom will also need to step up when QFs start.

Welcome to Sweden! I experience such situations in my WORK daily. Even my sisters start to act like this against me, or if they always did...

PS. In a recent sport news broadcast the (swedish) announcer called André Burakovsky AUSTRIAN!!

Elias? He seems to have a weird stride, but he can still move. Reminds me of this goal where he held off Rielly who is a great skater.

I don't know, he's able to pick up speed but his first few steps doesn't look great. He falls on his own more than anyone and looks tired pretty early in his shifts. I think he could reach a much higher level with some improvement there. His talent level is higher than anyone on this team.

Brodin has to be called in, he's exactly the guy this team needs. And keep Ros away from our players as much as possible, only give him clichés from here on.
