Zaripov is damn good, very unfortunate that he won't be play in this WHC. Very smart guy, tricky, unpredictable, a real team player and a sniper to boot. He could've been great in the NHL too. Well, right now Dadonov, Panarin and Shipachev are looking good for Russia, Anisimov also. If Malkin and Tarasenko step it up, things will get better. But the defence seems pretty bad so far. Tomorrow's game vs. the US will show more about the quality of this roster. But Bobrovsky definitely needs to be in net,

Don't you agree we'll never see a Russian team again with the chemistry the Red Army team had? They lived and trained together 11 months out of the year! It was all chronicled in the that cool Red Army documentary that came out in theaters earlier this year.

Yes, but, for example, ZZM line was pretty impressive back in 2007, so it is possible to create some nice chemistry nowadays too.

How does the roster look like for the game today agains US ?

I got a tip last game about a stream on youtube which was very good (thank you )
Forgot where so if anybody have a link for todays game that would be great

Hoping to see Malkin and Tarasenkov getting more in the game and want more from Ploktinov.
I don care if we win 1-0 or 7-0 i just want 2 Points and to see that the team getting more together.

Any news from you russian guys here at the forum is great - keep posting thank you:)

This set of defenseman is the worst the team has had in many years, and it is saying something.

This is where we were at from the get go. This ist just not a national team defence Znarok has there. And he is to blame for it partially. As most of us here know you may have Tyler Seguin, Jason Spezza and Jamie "Art Ross" Benn up front, but without a proper D core you can't win crap.

Medvedev :shakehead
Mozyakin :shakehead
Chudinov :shakehead

D is just bad.
Why was Kovy taking faceoffs in the third? Is Anisimov injured?

On a positive side, I think there were some signs of Malkin alive again in the third period.

Losing to the USA with Tarasenko, Malkin and Kovalchuk on the team is downright embarrassing.

I said it on the GDT Thread and I will say it again here, the line rotation needs to be looked at and adjusted! You just can't waste players like Tarasenko on the 4th line. Malkin-Tarasenko line needs to happen, and it hopefully will. With the right lines, we can try and outscore our opponents and make us forget our bad defense that way. If the defense plays bad, we just have to score more goals, and keep the puck longer in the opponents zone trough our offense, but that's not happening with the current lines. If the lines stay the way they are, we are in for a bumpy ride.

The defnece, as expected, let the Russian team down in this one. Also, sloppy passes, bad faceoff performances - somehow the usual 'confidence' level wasn't there - the players that showed up were Panarin, Shipachev, Dadonov, Plotnikov and Kovalchuk. Medvedev made a lot of mistakes, especially on the PP, Kovalchuk didn't seem very satisfied either, hehe. Overall, we need a better defence. Can't they bring in a few other KHLers?

Mozyakin is not a defenceman :D.

Have you looked at the US roster?

Yeah, the only 'elite' players on the US team right now are Eichel and Moses, whereas the Russians have elite offensive players on all 4 lines. But I think they'll come out and play better after today.
