What a great game, even though Oshawa came up short it was a heavyweight battle for 60+ minutes.

It was bad enough to let Cowan get behind the defense for a shorthanded breakaway goal - - I can’t believe Oshawa let the same thing happen again in overtime. But that would require some pre game instruction or in-game adjustments, neither of which have occurred in Oshawa this year.

And this is what I mean about the coaching discrepancy in the OHL. On one bench you’ve got a coach who’s won nearly 1,000 games and on the other bench you’ve got a guy who’s never even coached a peewee house league hockey team before this year.

Incidentally, Leafs President Brendan Shanahan was in attendance to watch this one tonight. Impeccable timing for Cowan to light it up with three goals. If the Leafs were thinking of including him in a deadline trade, you have to wonder if Shanahan might reconsider that idea after seeing this one.

Well I guess the 3 fight rule wasn't a deterent tonight as some suggested yesterday. Both Sim n Bolts were ready to go.
Like was said last night, they let Sam stand up for himself and rightfully so.
Notice that the player Boulton fight jumped the bench to replace the goalie? ( someone said Bolts would get 10 for that last night if he fought, both legit line changes IMO and no biggie)

Long Reach, why the hate lol. The kid fills a necessary role on the team, why not get on Halts the higher drafted Euro?
It's about building a team. And maybe the Hunters thought he would be a good fit on a deep balanced offensive squad? Maybe ge is filling the role asked?

Sometimes it's nice just to enjoy a very good team, maybe that's just me.
If a player leaves the bench, with intent to fight. It’s a 10 game suspension, weather the refs call it that way or see it that way, is a different story. But you can’t leave the bench, with the intent to fight. Not sure why you disagree with that, it’s a black and white rule.

I also, still believe the 3 right rule is a deterrent for guys, the only way Sim was fighting tonight was if someone instigated on him. He threw a big hit early and was waiting for someone to challenge him, so he could go and be instigated upon.

Boulton knew what he was doing tonight and was pre mediated that he wanted Danford, they don’t really care if the lose him for 2 games. Sim on the other hand, is the leading goal scorer, im sure they want to keep him in the lineup, which is why he likely won’t be fighting, unless someone instigates him.

This team misses Allen, too bad his chances of coming back are slim ( depending on court ruling)
Hey Ariel. Does it sound like Allen won’t be back at all ?? I understand that dui is wrong and if you , me or Cam Allen does it we should be charged and held accountable. I just don’t get the part about taking your or my job away or Cam Allen’s career/ job away . Like weather it’s a fine Or incarceration or probation why is does the person have to lose their job ??
You have to pay your dues with the law and yourself and most of all anyone you may hurt but you still have to carry on with your life and put a roof over your head so why take away someone’s livelihood.

That was so awesome!! Love beating Oaster again the same way Whoooo!

Yeah that Vanflet guy hits him into the boards after he score. He get injured 2 min penalty is a joke. Where’s the suspension.
Only if Boulton or Sim do the same thing. Otherwise it’s OK as far as the refs are concerned. A total joke.

Wow what a a hole for posting something. Like that. Thst makes tonight’s hattrick even better! Way to go Cowboy!
What a pathetic and small minded person for wishing an injury on a 19 year old kid he doesn’t even know because he plays for a team he doesn’t like. I could wish he falls out the front door of his trailer and has to enter concussion protocol but I don’t because I’m better than that. What a loser

I don't disagree with you at all. I just think that if the league just let Allen back, there would be a witch hunt against him by some people.

We will see if the league gives the Swha player 10 games I guess. I could be wrong but thought he jumped on for the tender on a delayed penalty to Bolts and the fight was on. Again I could be wrong on the player. Maybe someone with it still recorded can see.

I’m just saying, you don’t need to go across the pond for defensive forwards. Quite honestly, I don’t understand why this is even a discussion.
I will say this I think there is a lot of palm greasing and politics involved in getting the drafted import kids to report. Agents, drafted teams etc. come into play. The Knights are one of the very best at getting their choices to report. Possible bringing Nurmi who certainly doesn't hurt the team may be payback or a future investment in another player showing up. And agreed a lot of London fans had the kid as a Haltunen 2.0 which clearly he isn't his game is much different. Also have thought since the WJC he has stepped it up a bit?

Was the Oshawa announcer correct when he said it was Cowans first career hat trick? I find that hard to believe.

Nurmi has not produced what Knights fans thought he would...but there is the other aspects of the game he gets judged on. Hunter is the one who decides if his play deserves ice time or in some cases being traded. Young players like Levin,Paris and Arrowsmith would still be on the Knights if they excelled at things that Nurmi game has. Attitude and being a "team" player is also a big factor. Halittunen has impressed me with his team play "not only me" thinking. These players help make a team get to the next level.

That’s correct - - O’Toole came onto the ice as the extra attacker when Oster went off during the delayed penalty. It’s no different than if Oshawa had made a line change in the fly and O’Toole immediately got into a fight after coming onto the ice for his shift.

Totally NOT the same as leaving the bench to fight as the seventh skater on the ice.

O’Toole will be suspended however for instigating the fight. He’s due for several games because of that.

Yes, different than jumping the boards as a seventh skater to fight.
But there is a rule in the OHL rule book, that you can not come on to the ice with intention to fight. They consider it like a staged fight, so I believe I am incorrect in my initial 10 game suspension post, but I believe there is an extra suspension for jumping on the ice purely to fight.

Also, I did not realize until this morning when I looked at the game sheet that they gave O'Toole the instigater, so Boulton won't get suspended, I just assumed watching the game he did because Oshawa had the powerplay.

Well the weekend turned out okay with 4 of 6 points. This upcoming week

Brantford is a tough matchup as both teams are pretty hot, Lardis will be dangerous.

Kingston is another top East team.

Sarnia always plays us hard and it’s in their barn.

No week is easy, but I would hope the Knights can get at minimum 4 points

Once the playoff seeding is set I expect Cover to get into some games.

I wonder if any of Cook, Hickson, Mitchell, Bidgood, Hawery and Gerber get into any? Also anyone know the Max Mews situation ? Is he injured?

Thanks for the update. Do you think he cracks the forward group next year? I had originally heard he had 1st round skill set, but injuries hampered him. Obviously if he’s close in skill to his brother then that would be a good sign

Totally agree, legit line change. Bolts did the same game previous on a legit line change but some thought he would get 10 for leaving the bench to fight if they didn't get Sam take it on himself.
Regardless of any written rules we should all factor in the OHL wheel of justice lol so who knows.
Thanks!

Any updates on Barkey's injury?
Also, will Sim and Boulton be suspended? If so we might get to see Hawery and Cover get some game action?

Is Aboflan still injured?

I understand that Allen’s court appearance is March 6th. Likely will get the ball rolling on the verdict and if he is coming back this season or not?

I corrected myself in a later post, saying I believe I was incorrect with the 10 game suspension, as Donnie suggested, the 10 game suspension is if you leave the bench as a 7th player. But If you make a legal line change with the intent to fight, there is a rule for supplemental discipline. Similar to how they view a staged fight. After watching the replay, I believe O'Toole should be subject to supplement discipline, he left the bench for Oster and took a line straight to Boulton to fight.

Here is the rule;
