London Knights 2024-25 Season Thread, Part V

  • Xenforo Cloud will be upgrading us to version 2.3.5 on March 3rd at 12 AM GMT. This version has increased stability and fixes several bugs. We expect downtime for the duration of the update. If a line combination clicks (for example Barkey-O’Rielly-Montgomery) they break them up and spread them around and weaken each players contribution thereafter. Glad that the fans see this, not too sure why the coaching staff does not haha. Maybe they are experimenting?
 
An honest question anyone have an update on barkey , great player , but midway through the third he got into it with a Niagara player and got cross checked in that same collarbone area and threw his stick and I didn’t see him the rest of the game

Last night was exactly the right time to experiment with things.

1) First overall is practically wrapped up

2) Playing a non-conference rival

3) Playing a team on a 12 game losing streak

4) Playing against an untested goalie.

It didn't work out, and that's fine. You'll see a much different game over the next three. And after that, three more chances at experimentation

Should be a good game 2nite, Generals screwed themselves on Friday nite with untimely undisciplined penalties once again and have a coach that has no clue what he is doing behind the bench. Regardless it should be a big test against you guys I would love to meet you guys in the finals again this year but just don't see it from our side something is missing and I'm gonna say it is coaching..

Don’t expect any supplemental discipline from the league. However, as pointed out before, if Sim or Boulton or anyone in a green shirt had done that, you’d be sure something would be coming, suspension wise. Heck, Halttunen (who had no discipline history) got 4 games for a check from behind this year that didn’t warrant anything more than a 2 minute minor.

I think most people outgrow spectator sports as an entertainment option. I have little interest in supporting these mickey mouse leagues anymore and last year’s ass-kissing of the Saginaw Trumps was the final nail in the coffin for me. League is very lucky that Dale and Mark have lifelong interests in developing hockey players becuse a good portion of these CHL teams are run like a junior C operation. I’d have cashed out decades ago if I were Dale but props to him for putting up with the bullshit. A healthy bottom line certainly is motivation to stay.

Let’s be honest - - the Knights franchise has been a cash cow for the Hunters. London’s attendance is tops in the league and when you add in all the home playoff games plus payouts from the NHL for their drafted players, Dale and Mark are making money hand over fist compared to the rest of the CHL.

Dale is going to set an unbreakable record for coaching wins. To me, that should be an automatic hall of fame spot for him, but with all the NHL politics he may be blocked from getting selected based on his playing career.

Even in his sleep, Dale can put coach the majority of OHL coaches. It’s such a massive discrepancy in coaching ability.watch the clown for Oshawa tonight - - stands with his arms crossed like a scarecrow for the entire game while the team takes dumb penalties and has defensive breakdowns.

Btw, I don’t care what people from Kitchenhole think - the biggest crybabies of SW Ontario.

Also, since the discussion was brought up, you absolutely need more from a 19 year old import who is drafted in the fourth round of the NHL. He could be a super checker, defensive wizard, whatever people want to advertise him as. You should be tearing this league up offensively, easily. You don’t use the import draft for marginal role players. There are an abundance of those in Canada.

Well I guess the 3 fight rule wasn't a deterent tonight as some suggested yesterday. Both Sim n Bolts were ready to go.
Like was said last night, they let Sam stand up for himself and rightfully so.
Notice that the player Boulton fight jumped the bench to replace the goalie? ( someone said Bolts would get 10 for that last night if he fought, both legit line changes IMO and no biggie)

Long Reach, why the hate lol. The kid fills a necessary role on the team, why not get on Halts the higher drafted Euro?
It's about building a team. And maybe the Hunters thought he would be a good fit on a deep balanced offensive squad? Maybe ge is filling the role asked?

Sometimes it's nice just to enjoy a very good team, maybe that's just me.

Nice challenge for London last night n so far today in the 1st. I like the opponents are pushing them on the score board n physically. Fun to watch
 
It appears that the refs are targeting Sim at this point, he is getting the Rinaldo effect.

Agreed RVE, people just don't understand what is needed to win games at this level and it shows. Unfortunately Knights fans are an extremely fickle breed. One year we will go 68-0 and every player will be on a PPG pace and everyone will finally be happy!

Halttunen has a record of producing against this competition and has come on lately. I’m not hating on Nurmi, simply stating that you need more from a NHL (!) drafted player in what is a league of mostly undrafted teenagers. When London loses another Memorial Cup because of a 1 goal deficit, it will suck, just like the other times. Again, just an opinion, I understand there is more to the game than goals. I’m just saying, you don’t need to go across the pond for defensive forwards. Quite honestly, I don’t understand why this is even a discussion.

Sim with another phantom call against yet Kitchenhole posters will tell you otherwise.

Oh, Cowan with three goals. But Gens fans told me he sucked in December.

Side note: did anyone see the coach fight between erie and peterborough? Lengthy suspensions for sure
 
Nice for Cowboy to have a breakout game and those are well deserved 2 points! Great way to close the weekend out
