RNH has his foot in a boot apparently. Unless it is something small he may not be available for the Worlds.

Too bad as I think he would do well on the larger ice.

Ebs and Hall have already said they would go if asked.

Guessing he could have a bad bone bruise or a broken bone in his foot from blocking a shot.

So curious assuming today's standings what are the odds that we could have

It's the best roster at the moment but I'd love to see Canada take the tournament a life seriously.

It'll be on TSN. The roster actually might be different with young stars around 26-20.

Benn-McDavid-Seguin
Hall-Johansen-Eberle
Couture-O'Reilly-Toffoli
Hoffman-Turris-Stone/Ennis-Couturier-Skinner

Campbell-Ekblad
Daley-Schultz
Methot/Wiercioch/Dillon-Rielly

Smith/Scrivens/Mason/M.Jones/

All non-playoff teams. Toffoli is a wild card since he went deep into the playoffs last year and had a short off-season, but he's still young. McDavid on the first line for the hell of it, wouldn't mind seeing some junior players given a chance to play on defence like Nurse. Who knows if Vlasic, Burns, Duchene feel like coming. I wonder if Crosby would ever want to play with McDavid. It would probably be here at the WHC or maybe the Olympics but not the same thing.

Ya, no better way to piss off a bunch of elite professionals by gifting 1st line duties to a junior player who hasn't yet played a shift in the pros. As big a fan I am of our Wunderkind, McJesus, he still has to earn it.

I'm still hoping we can get at least 3 Olympians. And I'm so impressed with the positive vibe the Sens (not a Sens fan) have going on the past 8 weeks, I say load up with some of them. There's 24 players. If Calgary gets dropped in the 1st. rd. bring in Monahan. And I'd rather have Duchene than ROR, but 4 Olympians is being unrealistic imo.

Vlasic is hurt (hasn't played in April) so I'm skeptical that he will go. This team has the potential for good forwards, but the defence looks very shaky. Letang's concussion is bad for this team too. If the Kings missed and Doughty played (which I doubt since he didn't go when possible in 2010, 2011 and 2013) it would be colossal for this team.

You just killed my morning buzz. That certainly is disappointing. I haven't been paying close enough attention to the Sharks since their PO hopes dwindled some weeks ago.

I'm not anticipating Doughty either...just clinging to hope that we could get a couple of A listers back there. We'll see how it goes.

Likely some of those players will go i could see Hall , Seguin , Rielly and Turris, Ekblad going . Steve mason said he won't go cause he needs to rest his knee. Tanner pearson is still recovering from a broken lower left fibula he could play at worlds maybe depending on if he returns to playing in the playoffs. he has been light skating. Mackinnon also has a broken foot.

Pearson is injured and so are Simmonds, Vlasic and MacKinnon.

I really like Mark Stone's game and would enjoy seeing him represent Canada again. Just a very intelligent player both offensively and defensively, and it helps that he is a natural RW. Canada usually only produces defensively responsible centres, so having a few good two way wingers is nice. I'm curious to see how effective Stone is on big ice with his still rather limited skating.

I wouldn't be overly concerned with his skating on the international ice; he'll get to where he needs to go effectively enough and is such an intelligent player that its unlikely he'll get caught out of position. He's improved his skating gradually over the past couple of years from what I can tell. If Turris and Hoffman also go over (if Ottawa fails to make the playoffs), that would be a very nice 2nd/3rd line for us. Otherwise, I'd leave a roster spot or two open for these guys should the Sens get knocked out in the first round

Yeah, I was kidding a little. Just thinking back to the days when guys like Gretzky, Lafleur, Dionne, etc. went, usually after going a round or two in the playoffs. Not like it meant more success, but still.

Well u could argue that the competition ( namely CCCP + Czechoslovakia ) was better in those days, certainly those Eastern Euro squads were much more cohesive/ better prepared. Nowadays, IF more of our top guns were available, we'd be winning our share of WC's. When's the last time we won, circa 2004 was it?

Crosby has already gone as many times as Gretzky and Lafleur did.

Crosby hasn't played in this tournament for a long time. He should go this year if the Pens fizzle out. I mean his pal Geno goes every year he can. Do it for the motherland Sid.

Duchene, ROR, Barrie, Seguin, Benn, Hall, RNH, Eberle, Johansen, Ekblad, Couture, Doughty, Giroux, Thornton, Luongo, E. Staal, Skinner, Rielly, Brent Burns, Huberdeau, Marleau, Carter, Toffoli, Simmonds, Phaneuf, Iginla, Tanguay.

Lots of talent available without even considering Senators, Penguins or Bruins.

likely at least some of those players will Go . Now that Jim Nill has been offically named GM of Team Canada more likely Benn and Seguin will go.
