It seems quite obvious that this swedish team wont have anything todo with the top teams. If they can press through the quarter finals its a success. The abysmal level of their passing game is rather depressive and to me, also surprising. I understand that Sweden is such a small hockey market that its hard to find top end talent on a yearly basis but for the first time in 9 years, they look like they are missing out on the basics, like moving the puck. Oh well... go Sweden! =)

Söderström looked good, thank god. Defense is still bad, the czechs weren't even pressuring them. I would trade our entire group of D for 7 Aho's. The best defensive defensemen on this level are guys that can move the puck.

Well sure, I would trade them for 3 more Aho (have 2 par that get 30 min each), he is a outstanding talent. Very skillfull offensivly but also very good defensivly, and all this at such a young age. Sure he is small but thanks to that he is very mobile. But I do think Forsling did a good game too overall.

Very happy that this 2 will most likely play for us even next year. Next year I think Aho will start getting more ice-time in PP in skellefteå and can take a even bigger step.

This group just can't complete passes. It's ridiculous how our players always have to receive the puck with their skates.

When did this team became a turn over machine? It looks like the D never have played together. I can understand that they want to play himself out of trouble, but it's getting ridiculous.

I think Sweden has shown a lot of great passing, it's just that most of that have been in the offensive end, Sweden need to play a lot simpler in their own end.

It's a big gap down, but I see us as the third best team.

I get a little bit Zetterberg vibes from JDLR. He is probably the only 95 togeheter with Wallmark in this team that couldnt easily be replaced by a 96 or a 97.

Weird comment after we just have won against czech with 5-2.

Sweden can very well win the group, and make the semi-final on the virtue of not facing Canada/USA/Finland. A bronze medal is very reasonable expectation, and seeing the Finland - USA game, I could see Sweden pull an upset if Söderström has a HUGE game in the semis.

I looked at the Canadian game and the Czech game and its not weird at all, the team misses 50% of their passes and 30% of the passes that actually have a recipient hit their skates. This is by far the worst team in 10 years and how they can suck at such basic things as moving the puck, which is the hallmark of Swedish hockey, is beyond me.

Eh, Hedman made the all-star team as a 17 yo on a pretty 'meh' Swedish team. Filip Forsberg made the all-star team twice, and was tournament MVP last year. E. Lindholm came into the tournament last year as a top-5 draft pick with NHL experience, how is that not screaming "star-player" at the WJC level?

I think you need to compare at what time in the tournys they were anointed though.. Who's to say that one of our "scrubs" wont get the same awards? Many of our past "stars" weren't really considered stars at first. Also i think it's an individual opinion of what makes you a star. Personally I think actually winning games beats personal awards any day. Just look at ovechkin. All the points, awards and all-star selections in the world and not a single cup to show for it. The point is Nylander can dangle around and score as many points as he wants but if he doesn't step up in all games all the way to gold then he's no star. Not to me anyway.

Obvious bruins fan here. What's everyone's impression of blidh so far in the tournament. He's put up a couple points but has he stood out at all/in what way. Thanks

So Ray Bourque was crap for 20+ years until he got traded to Colorado? Is Justin Williams a star player?

Good teams win games, not star players. Has Nylander ever played on a good team?

That was my point. A team full of scrubs as he said can still be a good team and win games. And those scrubs are IMO the real stars. Not the preanointed stars who cruises through pregames and gets selected to all-star teams. So untill guys like nylander steps up and actually helps the team win the games that matter their no more stars then our "scrubs".

2 goals in 2 games with 1 GWG isn't helping the team win?

Sorry if this has already been posted but what do Sweden's PP units look like?

PP1: Nylander, Kempe, Holmström, Lindbom, Forsling
PP2: Wallmark, De La Rose, Brodecki, Hägg/Olofsson, Aho

Haven't had the chance to watch Sweden much but I was just wondering how Englund was playing. Thanks!

Englund has been the 7:th defender with very limited ice time. Was shaky like the rest of the Swedish defence (except for Aho) in the first two games.

I expect terrible things to happen every time Hägg is near the puck.

Olofsson, Kempe & Brodecki have been invisible so far, they need to get going.
