Why is that? I will not be shocked if i see red, blue, yellow and green forward lines at the WJC. Maybe except Golyshev who can be instead of Tkachyov in the "yellow" line.
Three scoring lines and one line of harworkers, but these guys also can score some :).

I don't see green in. you don't see black in(mindboggling to me. how are they not in?). Go figure.

If Gavrikov, Paygin and Golyshev are cut I'm not watching the tournament. Yes, I'm serious.

this. green looke like the odd man out
nothing is set in stone, of course. it all depends on how they'll look in exhibition games.
and i have nothing against golyshev being out, i thing he'll be eaten alive out there.

Can someone tell me if Svehnikov just wasn't good enough to play or some other reason he isn't there? I know he went pointless in the SSS, but that's about it.

It's about his age and experience. Bragin's teams tend to be heavy on the oldest kids available.

Hes also been injured since the SSS, came back last night and had a goal though in his first game back.

Playing really bad, Buchenevich was scratched can't remember who else. Playing bunker, Sorokin having a blinder.

Currently 1-1, I think Russia leaves the defensive zone once every 6 minutes..

Second period shots with 3minutes to go Canada 20 - 4 Russia

Second Period ended
Canada 34 Shots Russia 11. 90% of the game in Russia's zone, Defense has actually been quite good but they can't get out of their own zone (Typical problem under Bragin).

I'm going to bed, can't be bothered with the 3rd period lol.

My virus protection program is warning me away from that stream page, so I haven't seen it. That has been the biggest Russian problem since 2012 (Bragin and Varnakov) - getting trapped in their defensive zone. One reason over the years is because they always try to clear up the side boards, and its so predictable now that you usually have one or two Canadian players just parked there waiting for a Russian pass to come to them. On the other hand, if they have any changed defensive strategies, no point in giving them away in an exhibition game. Russia always starts slow and then gets stronger toward the end of the tournament.

That goalie you've got is awesome though. He's made 3 or 4 amazing saves and another dozen or so nice ones that you wouldn't have complained if he let them in.

Headed to OT. Canada out-shooting Russians 51-15. Having difficulty getting a handle and Canada's size and speed. Have thrown in a nice counter-attack every now and then.

Hehe. Russia wins 2-1 in OT. Sharov with a nice tap in front after he and Goldobin got the Canadian D crossed up. OT was a lot more even than the 2nd and 3rd.

We've got another one who's just as good. Watch out!:)

We have a secret Bobrovskys breeding facility.

There's part of your answer. He was a bubble candidate due to his age an latest showing at the SSS. Bragin wouldn't risk picking a guy who just came back from an injury. But anyway he has to mature and he's not that brilliant he'd push other guys from that roster easily. Next year he should be more ready.

Islander fan in peace how did Sorokin look? If someone can provide a write up that'd be awesome. He faced 53 shots I saw on the box score

Damn him! He's making it extremely tough for our coach.:sarcasm:

He was brilliant top to bottom. Well, he knows he has to play for no.1. He did that in style. If Shesterkin lets in more than on from the Finns the starting job would be Sorokin's I guess.

You missed the best part. Especially the canadian anouncers at first drooling over the amount of shots(always funny how this belief survives in NA) then finally realizing shots won't win them the game and getting really scared and talking how one shot may cost them the tournament. Well it did cost them the exhibition game. No big deal of course. But this canadian team did play some outdated NA hockey all game. Big guys pushing and shooting and shooting and putting pucks on net from every position... to no avail. I'm looking forward to US outplaying them in the group after reading the other thread where some Canadians got really touchy when told the US development system by now surpassed the canadian one. Something I believe too. Right now US and Sweden have the best junior systems. Too bad we're not playing one of the exhibitiong games against one of them.

Atas who do you personally think is better since you probably follow them closer then me? I am only pulling for Sorokin because he is Islander spec

Terrible game by Russia. Could not even make tape to tape passes. Thank god for Sorokin.

Get Buch and Barbashev in there pronto.

Whatfor? It's exhibition. The game wasn't terrible at all. It's what was expected. Canadians shooting, our guys counter-attacking. It worked for us. Also no reason to risk anything even before the tournament starts.

I guess the shallow pool of defensemen and centermen speaks for itself.

That's not to knock Provorov in particular, who may find himself at the top of the crop of his generation.

It's not like any 96 or 97 winger has shown anything significant to be considered over the 95 guys.
