I come in peace friends :D Lol

I just selected Vyacheslav Leshenko in my WJC pool. I wish I knew more about Russian junior hockey players. Thoughts on his offensive upside for this tournament? I hear so much about Barbashev & Buchnevich but not much about Leshenko.

Cheers.

hummm. You should care Buddy! You need some lucks on this one because your team doesnt play in Bell Center in the preliminary round but than have 50% chance that it will be the case in the quarterfinal.

Considering that Scherbak is the little favorite of the fans, you can bet that Russia is not realy welcome here this year. Your team lost the advantage of the public favor (and not the 2nd favorite like it should be with Nikita) and will have to deal with angry fans, extreme pressure. Even the NHLers said that its the toughest place to play. How the kids can be prepared? Seriously, I think it will be insane for team Russia at the moment they will put their feets in our province. You'll have to deal with the most intense fans in the world

Russian teams are accustomed to not being the fan favorite in Canadian arenas. You seem to be suggesting that the Canadien fans would be cheering for Russia if Scherbak was on the team, but that seems a bit far-fetched.

Leschenko has limited offensive skills, but does everything else well. Great utility guy who can play in any situation. Reminds me a lot of old-NHLer Sergei Brylin. But I think he'll get his points if playing with Barbashev/Buchnevich.

You dont have the right vision of Montréal fans. We always think about "what is good for our business" Being not favorite and being the enemy number one are two things. Considering all the love for Scherbak here since the draft, you can be sure that Russian team would play in Montréal with the favor of the fans and feel to play at home.

Also, I have some talks with people in november ans some peoples cheers for Russia and not for Canada expecting that a great performance of Scherbak with Russia could impact his play and make our team better next year with him on board in the context that Timmins and Bergevin like the "leadership" thing. We like Fucale, but we have Carey Price and desesperatly need a player that Scherbak could become. Back in the Galchenyuk WJC, some peoples cheers for USA and not for Canada... and I was in the USA bandwagon.

He is an excellent puck handler, strong and tough, feisty, and very willing to stick his nose into the crease to fight for a puck. He won't be the leader of the team, but he could be very effective as a role player.

Thank you Yakushev & Zine.

Sounds like he isn't the most offensively talented player, but with possible first line minutes could put up some points.

I'll take a Russian 1st line player at the 58th overall pick any day of the week! Just hope he stays there with those two talented players :D

As opposed to all that public favor they had in past years.

Also, really nice to hear that a team of teenagers who have absolutely zilch political influence or even know-how is not welcome. Please do not forget to remind them of their evildoing with giant posters.

Not to worry. We've dealt with some ugly crowd performances before in Canada.

The Canadians should worry about the pressure. I'm reading way to many intervies by the players talking about how Canada hasn't won in a long time and should be expected to win again. The expectations are surely high.

Collateral dommage!

Unfortunatly, I expect that the Kids will suffer from the special Scherbak's treatment from the Russian Federation. I saw a lot of articles on Facebook actually and in the majority of them, the conversation has been deflected by the Scherbak's situation.

while i agree with your message, vodka will surely lessen the pain and i don't see any ugly crowd perfomances in that photo.
the only ugly perfomance i expect here is from the team, couldn't care less with what's going on the stands

Some friends from Russia. You can tell my please which Russian tv channel will by transmit matches from World Junior Championship? TH

I agree on both points. There's nothing wrong with that sign, just a bit of fun. There's no need for fans to bring politics into a tournament for teenagers, though.

In fact, if fans in attendance have some problem with the policies and practices of the Russian government, they should realize that the current generation of teenagers not only have no say in those matters but represent a possible future of better relations. There's no reason to get on them beyond the normal treatment a rival should expect in sports.

russia 2 (Россия 2) is gonna show them all live (i think) and there'll be a bunch of streams available on the net in good quality for each game i'm sure.

:handclap:

I thought I should tell you that whether or not you keep or cut Valiev, the fans will be against you in Toronto. I'm sure that will be a big surprise to Russian fans.

That bleuet guy is an odd one, isn't he.

I don't know if the guys on the ice ever look at that, butt it's nonetheless pretty classless. And it was only one exampe of many. At least nobody can tell me all canadian fans were fine sports.

is Leshenko really penciled in for the first line by Bragin?

Of course he is. He played on that line, successfully. I don't see any problems with that. He's the complimentary player for dirty work on that line. Still, Bragin juggles line easily. You don't have to worry he stays there if it's not working. The good thing about Leschenko, he can be used on either line.

I disagree with the US and canadian government's policy too to say the very least, but that's something for international courts. If I see any politically motivated statements in the stands in Canada, that will only support my opinion on the matter.

We've had an international tournament in Russia just this week and I was pleased to not see any russian fans bringing in politics into it.

Lines from practice:

Provorov - Valiev, Leshchenko - Barbashev - Buchnevich.

Gavrikov - Bryntsev, Goldobin - Kamenev - Tolchinskiy.

Rafikov - Cherepanov, Bryukvin - Sharov - Mamin.

Paigin - Yudin, Golyshev - Fischenko - Dergachyov.

Sharipzyanov, Korenev.
