Out 5-6 weeks, should be right around WJC time. Seems like Stamkos 2.0. A month and a half of "Will he be ready?" analysis.

Stamkos was always a question mark, and the fact that he wasn't able to skate didn't help matters.
McDavid will only need to get into game shape, and 5 to 6 weeks is the most extreme case. Chances are much higher then they were ever for Stamkos. It'll almost be surprising he won't be ready infact.
Knowing how incompetent Team Canada is... wouldn't surprise me if they leave him off due to "precautionary reasons".
Honestly, why the **** are we so bad at picking our junior teams? Just ditch all the politics and select the best possible healthy team. What's so ****ing hard about that?

We don't do that?
Sounds like there's a good chance Lazar will be released.

A player's decision! meaning the most likely decision will be to stay with his NHL team. I'll be surprised if he decides on playing in the tournament.
I just don't know why they'd come out and say it like this though if that were the case. I would think they'd rather keep it quiet.
December 19th.What's the latest an NHL team needs to make a decision on sending a player to camp/tournament?
December 19th.
I don't know... PR perhaps.... keeps everything balanced between the team's fan base who are not fans of the international game and those who are... it's all on the player and the fan's will respect whatever a player decides. but every year we hear a few GMs say "we'll leave it up to the player to decide"...and in most cases they decide not to play.
So, I don't expect Lazar or any of the other junior eligible players currently on NHL rosters to play in the tournament. But, until Dec.19 my fingers are crossed.
