I'm not so sure about that, I mean he got about 10 minutes last night of ice time, and once Stephan comes back it might be less. It'll be a last minute decision with Lazar and hopefully both are able to play. I'm sure teams know the value of this tournament and the experience it provides.

The only reason he got about 10 mins of play last night, is because Vigneault is taking his time in developing Duclair. As Vigneault said, it's a process. He doesn't play PK.... yet.... NYR gave up twice 10 mins penalties, hence, forget Duke at those moments. Besides that he has an average of 14 mins in 7 games. That's plenty for his development and just enough, not to burn him over the entire season....

And those 10 mins he played yesterday, let's just say, that he was a factor on the ice at every shift.

Came across an interesting piece from this article on NHL.com

http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=736544

"Duclair, chosen in the third round (No. 80) of the 2013 draft, did not sign his first contract until Jan. 6, 2014; six days after the deadline of Dec. 31, 2013. As a result, he has just two years remaining on his entry-level contract after this season, and is eligible for restricted free agency in 2017 no matter if the Rangers keep him on their roster or return him to the Quebec Remparts in the QMJHL.

As such, the Rangers are already in the first year of Duclair's entry-level contract and could essentially return him to Quebec whenever they see fit"

Firstly, i think Horvst makes the NHL and i actually think Cassels slots into wjc in the 3rd line.

I don't dislike the player, but I think we have better 3rd line center options available to us than Cole Cassels. And besides, wasn't he invited to the U.S. summer camp? dual citizen, but I haven't followed if he attended the camp or has chosen which country he'll represent going forward.

I hope Team Canada will show true hockey once again, and there is no better time than now with McDavid, playing in Montreal and Toronto, after 5 years without a gold.

Can't wait for the Subway Superseries, btw.

I believe Cassels is still eligible to represent Canada in IIHF competition. That said, Hockey Canada has shown no inclination to go in that direction.

I took a peak at the USAH website to refresh the memory of who attended the summer camp in Lake Placid and apparently Cassels did not attend even though he was invited. So, you're right, he's still free to choose..
But, even if Horvat is not available at Christmas as the poster mentioned, I still believe there are better options than Cassels. IMO R. Fabbri would be a better option than Cassels despite being a year younger.... Fabbri can more than excel as a 3rd line center + be double shifted with McDavid. Hell, I'd take Fabbri over Horvat anyway. never really been his biggest booster.

Yeah, Cassels couldn't make it due to illness (I believe). I'll defer to you on who would be a better fit for Team Canada. I fully expect Cassels to get an invite to the U.S. WJC Camp in December and to ultimately make the team.

He played for Canada in the under-17 tournament in 2012 for Ontario winning Bronze. However that was not an IIHF contest. He can still play for either Canada or USA.

Has he been invited to play for Team OHL for the SSS? if he's not there, then my guess he's already indicated to HC that he's leaning towards to the U.S.

I should look it up....too preoccupied at the moment.

I came across this article from last week. Very interesting- http://www.durhamregion.com/sports-...-a-name-for-himself-with-the-oshawa-generals/

Straight from the article: Unlike most, however, the 19 year old could still play for one of two teams as a dual citizen of Canada, where his dad was born, and the United States, where his dad was playing when he was born.

“I honestly don’t know,†Cassels said Sunday, when asked which team he would be more likely to play for, if either. “Hopefully one of them would select me. It would be an honour to play at world juniors. I’m just trying to play as best I can to get an opportunity.â€

Cassels has played for Ontario in the past at the under-17 level, but that’s not considered an international event, and he was invited to the U.S. junior evaluation camp this summer, but was unable to attend due to mononucleosis. If and when he picks a side, he’ll be committed to play for that country the rest of his career.

“It’s still early, but I think if I keep playing this way, playing defensively responsible, winning faceoffs, getting some checks in and producing, I think hopefully I can get a chance,†he says of playing at the world juniors. “I’d love more than anything to.â€

Guess whoever gives him a good guarantee between Canada or USA for the WJC will have Cassels on the roster.

That's a pure joke, he's not his dad, he's his own person, and from what poster's have said it seems, he's American if he was raised there and he shouldn't be anywhere near this Canadian team. Just suddenly your going to wake up and feel Canadian, doesn't work that way.

Missy Franklin the ''Phelps'' of Women's swimming was born to Canadian parents in the States, and she represents the States albeit spending her summer's in Canada. The fact that you question who you have allegiance to is quite sad, your heart should tell you that answer.

It must've been interesting watching the Olympics in 2010 and 2014 with him if that was his thinking, ''Go Canada...Go USA...guys this is tough I don't know who to cheer for...'' lol

Yeah don't really want him regardless of how he plays.

Why not? He's 4th in OHL scoring and is know for playing more of a defensive game. Seems like a good fit for either team to me.

I haven't looked into where he's actually from (regardless of citizenship) but if he's considering playing for a different country, then I don't particularly want him playing for Canada.

Good news that Reinhart gets sent back to jr. Now all I want is for Duclair and Lazar to be sent back and I'll be happy.

Canada will be in trouble if those are their top two centres....:sarcasm:

Really exciting news! Was hoping for it and was thinking it would
happen. A relief that it actually did

Even with those 2 as our 1-2 down the middle, I still wouldn't rank TC as prohibitive Gold Medal favorites. I still think we are in tough and I have little faith in the boobs at HC to make the right decisions....but as of now, I think I would prefer S. Reinhart on McDavid's right side. The 2 have played together in the past and have established chemistry, so unless injuries or NHL no-shows make us weaker down the middle, I'd like to see Reinhart play with McJesus. Let's see how things look as November turns into December and camp approaches.

I'm not in the west, so can somebody in the know clarify the situation with Shea Theodore? 1 game in the AHL?

So Nov.2 and a few still in the NHL:

Drouin- 7GP, 4PTS, 15:12TOI- 3rd line currently, not expected back to JR. (maybe Stevie Y will allow him to play big minutes in this tournament if production drops and isn't playing a major role)
Horvat- 0GP, 1st game today- I really expect him back to London, we'll see how his playing time goes.
Ekblad- 9GP, 3PTS, 21:25TOI- Very unlikely he plays.
Duclair- 8GP, 5PTS, 13:11TOI- Was hopeful, probably around 50% chance he plays in the WJC, time will tell.
Lazar- 8GP, 2PTS, 13:14TOI-Same as Duclair.

Reinhart sent back.

If only all these guys could play:

Drouin-McDavid-Duclair
Lazar-Reinhart-Petan
Klimchuk-Horvat-Fabbri
Dal Colle-Virtanen-Ritchie

Now if Mackinnon could get in there somehow:sarcasm:

Yesterday's games.

Duclair playing just over 10 minutes, benched third period.
Drouin playing just over 10 minutes, on a almost fourth line on a winning team.
Horvat playing first game tonight, 0 pts in 5 games in the AHL, word from scouts and whatnot from twitter at least seems to be he's not ready and should be sent back.
Lazar playing over 12 minutes 3rd/4th line, lots of shorthanded time, very responsible but doesn't produce much, probably will stay but I can see him being sent to the tourney if Ottawa struggles throughout the month, which I expect they will.

Really feel 3 of these players will be available, only question really is only one of Lazar/Drouin gets sent down for the tourney in my opinion.

It's a matter of 14 games or so in the month of november, start of december the camp roster is named so I mean unless any of these players really plays out of their minds in the show hopefully their available..

There are always surprises when it comes to selecting Team Canada's roster.

For example, I didn't expect Hudon, Anderson & Leier on the team last year.

That being said, I think that McDavid and Reinhart are locks.

Beyond that, they like to mix it up with some checkers and skilled guys.

Dal Colle
Domi
Strome
Nick Paul
Ho-Sang (I wish, but think he gets left off)
Ritchie
Petan
Roy (QMJHL)
Dauphin

Bowey
Subban
McKeown
Nurse
Sanheim
Morrissey
Fleury

Jarry
Paterson
Fucale

im assuming you are talking about nicolas roy because he is in the forward group.. but there is no way he is in any talks for making this team, not doing remotely good enough to make it as a draft eligible player, that coupled with the fact that there are many high pedigree players available this year.
