Good news. now I hope Buffalo gets smart and makes the right decision. Duclair is 50/50 and Lazar? based on how he played last night, smart smart hockey player, is doubtful.

From what I've seen Reinhart looks like he needs the extra year to get faster, Duclair needs a bit more polish and isn't enough of a difference maker at this point to keep, but you're right on Lazar. I'll be surprised if he's back.

Ya, my default setting with all junior age players is send them back, but having seen him play the other night I'm fine with the idea of him sticking with the big club just like I was last year with Mackinnon and this year with Drouin. It's only when junior age players are kept with the NHL team when they still have some developing to do that really gets me.

And under no circumstances do I believe 18 year old defensemen should be learning on the fly in the NHL. Ekblad should be sent back regardless Number 1 pick or not.

Are you sure about Duclair? I think he has a big chance of staying on the roster and he's played pretty well with Nash and St.Louis from what I've heard (the Rangers' broadcasters)/read/seen.

Anyway, a player like Duclair would be a huge asset for Canada, given his NHL play.

I think Lazar is sticking. Ottawa likes him, Murray likes him, MacLean likes him and played on the PK for them.

Fucale
Comrie

Nurse Morrissey
Morin Bowey
Theodore Sanheim
Fleury

Virtanen McDavid Ritchie
Duclair Reinhart Petan
Horvat Domi Fabbri
Dal Colle Klimchuk Baptiste
Hawryluk

It's funny to see how many on this board are warming up to Duclair. He started as not being on most folk's lineups, then, as the 13th forward, then creeping up the depth chart..... Some still have reservations on Duclair, based on where he was drafted and/or based on past negative information written on him.

He should of been part of the 2014 team.... With Nurse and Matheson on D.

If he's back, (95% chance he'll be back) he should be paired with McDavid. He's the fastest skater and sees plays the same way McDavid sees them. Plus McDavid will be able to keep up with Duclair's speed of execution.

McDavid/Duclair would probably be the fastest line ever assembled by Canada for this tournament.

Question:

I like Domi, I love his grit and his skills, but gosh he gets his team into penalty problems.... Do we truly need someone like that, providing the other teams with PP opportunities????

Fucale Regressing

I used to be big on this guy and he usually ups his game big under pressure but so far this year I'm hearing he's almost aweful. 3.46 GAA and 0.900 SV%. Apparently his camp in MTL was terrible too. I know he'll get a shot because of his performance last year but is he likely to play or who is going to come up and take his spot.

The other teams will have PPs anyway. I'd like to see how many times it's been confirmed that such players really create big problems, bigger than other players, you know what I mean. But a good point, I think coaches might ask a similar question...

What's everybody's opinion on Domi? Does anyone think he could be a problem? Just an honest question. I personally don't think so.

I do. If things are getting heated I don't mind if you play with some bite to your game. Domi goes out of his way to play as stupid as possible. We need our skilled players to play, not be in the box or in the press box because they were suspended.

I thought we could've used him last year as we had a slow team. This year, we have a diverse mix of skill size and speed. I pass on him.

Guys still in the NHL:

Drouin- 3 GP (99.9% he stays)
Duclair- 5GP Chances are he'll return to the Q
Ekblad- 6GP Most likely to stick?
Lazar- 4GP- Likely to stick
Reinhart- 6GP, 0PTS can actually see him be returned to the WHL
Horvat- 0GP, in the AHL I think he'll be returned.

So based off my assumptions we'll have everyone except Drouin, Ekblad and Lazar. (Not counting Mackinnon etc.)

Really only see 3-4 complete locks at forward, but tons of depth and options.

Can't wait.

Guessing:

Duclair-McDavid-Fabbri
Klimchuk-Reinhart-Petan
Dal Colle-Horvat-Virtanen
Ritchie-Gauthier-Dickinson

Um, Duclair has 4 pts in 6 GP. If he continues to play like this, hell stick, if he hasnt already...

Dal Colle - Horvat - Virtanen as a 3rd line. That's what I call depth.

I think Duclair stays in the NHL, but who knows.

He's played 6, but according to the coach, they'll make a decision today or tomorrow. He was quoted as "after the Mtl game. I suspect he get's sent back, at least that's my hope...still missing too many guys for my liking.

Duclair with a goal tonight, should be very interesting if they send him back, hopefully that's the case.

I would love to see Virtanen, McDavid and Duclair on the same line. Fastest line anyone would have ever seen in the WJC.

it's becoming less and less likely with each passing game. Too bad, he could have really set that tourney on fire along side McDavid.

I'm not so sure about that, I mean he got about 10 minutes last night of ice time, and once Stephan comes back it might be less. It'll be a last minute decision with Lazar and hopefully both are able to play. I'm sure teams know the value of this tournament and the experience it provides.
