Bob must have been keeping on eye on the thread, as he wrote this today.

Could get very dicey as we inch closer to December.

"Jankowksi and Team Canada have no control over injuries or NHL clubs' decisions on underage players. They are, however, masters of their own destiny in terms of how they shape this year's national junior squad. And after two years without a medal of any color, and no gold in the last four tournaments, the clear emphasis is now on selecting the 'best' players with the most speed and skill, worrying less about composition of lines and roles and more about getting the most talented players and the deepest lineup."

Awesome news, and certainly a few years overdue.

It would hurt if we don't have Lazar, Reinhart, Horvat, and even not having players like Nurse, Morrissey would hurt even more if we lose Lazar, Reinhart, Horvat.

Maybe it is this...but color me a skeptic...we've heard this spiel before from HC, last year from Jankowski and from his predecessor before that...

So, until I see it in full 1080p, I'm going to hold off on my "praise the baby jesus, they've finally seen the light" comments. :)

Is it possible for connor bleackley to make this team? What would he have to do to justify a possible 4th line spot?

He didn't get invited to the summer camp but if he plays outstanding he'll get a look.

If the guys I mentioned don't make the team I think he will have to compete against guys like Hawrlyuk, Chase, Paul, Klimchuk.

Fucale
Comrie

Nurse Morrissey
Morin Bowey
Theodore McKeown/Subban (Need a Right hander)
Bigras/Fleury

Drouin Reinhart Petan
Horvat Domi Bennett
Lazar McDavid Ritchie
Duclair Klimchuk Baptiste
Virtanen

***
Lazar, Reinhart, Drouin

Only three I worry won't be available, but judging from camp, Reinhart ain't ready to do much, Lazar I think would be a waste of a year on his contract on a Sens team that won't do much, and Drouin with his early injury might take some time to really get going, and he'll have to really earn his spot on this team and that might take time, so I can see Stevie Y, knowing what international experience does sending him down to this tourney.

But anyways if this is the squad, this is the best Team Canada has sent since god knows how long. And with the games on small ice, this team will be a force to be reckoned with.

just came here to post this  It's truly a good news - hopefully.

It's kinda scary how many players could be playing in the NHL in December, which would hurt TC certainly. And also scary how good could TC be with S.Reinhart, Drouin, MacKinnon, Horvat, Petan, Lazar, Ekblad... and S.Monahan is 20 just in October 12.

My list has grown to 12 teenagers who will start the season in the NHL and possibly unavailable for the tourny. Duclair looks as though he'll start the season in NY. Team Canada is a victim of Hockey Canada's superior developmental system.

Now that I threw HC a compliment, Monahan should have been on the 2013 Ufa team, but his exclusion was just another screw up in a long list of screw ups which Hockey Canada makes year in and year out.

Does Fabbri have a good shot at making it? Just read a quote how him and McDavid played well together in camp. Would be interesting to see them together.

LOL

I'm thinking of calling you the crocodile, because once you snap your jaws shut nothing can get away.

Duclair and Fabbri are having good training camps apparently, hope they come back for junior for another year since we can lose alot of quality players.

Yeah they played great but then again so did Ritchie, Duclair, Horvat who also played with McDavid. I think Fabbri will make it, if they're taking skill guys instead of Leiers/Rychels/Andersons/ then he should make it IMO.

:)

Who are your 12?

The first 4 or 5 are the obvious ones, and players I didn't really expect anyway...

N MACKINNON J DROUIN C LAZAR A EKBLAD S REINHART

However I'd really like to get Lazar and Reinhart back. Ekblad I don't believe is NHL ready yet, although I really don't know how he's doing in camp, but Number 1 picks are not sent back regardless, ready or not.

The others are A DUCLAIR D NURSE M DOMI B HORVAT S MORIN R FABBRI N PETAN

The highlighted names are players I'd like to see returned, but am not holding my breath we'll see them come Christmas.

As for Domi and Horvat, I'm not part of their fan entourage. :) not really worried too much of what is going on with their NHL camps, but they are teenagers and eligible to play in the tournament, so I included them in my list, as I don't discriminate.

and later that day, looks as though Domi is back in junior and in contention to make the Christmas team. Not sure how I feel about that, but we shall see how it goes.

Thank you, sir. We could really be short (almost half a team) come Christmas.

Domi returned to London

I thought I saw that as well.

Domi returned to London

Maybe he should now regret putting in no effort into those summer exhibition games. He played like it was a foregone conclusion he had made the NHL.

That said, I still think its a 99% chance he makes the team.

The Flyers just made there final few cuts including sending Samuel Morin back to Rimouski.

I saw the tweet. It is never a wrong move sending a 19 year old back to finish off his junior career...especially a 19 year old D-man. from all indications he had a good camp and showed a lot of progress and improvement over last year...so am looking for him to have a monster year and be in contention for one of those 7 coveted spots on Canada's d-corp. Can he play the right side at all? b/c that is where we need D-man. We are in good shape on the left side.

Morin set to have a big year in rimouski, lots of talent on the oceanic

Good to hear. TSN said this morning that the Flyers were trying to move at least one defenceman, with one of the reasons being to give Morin the opportunity to play 9 games in the NHL.

What's the word on Nurse and Morrissey?

At camp

Duclair
Lazar
Horvat
Fabbri
Bennett
Reinhart
Drouin
Petan
Nurse
Morrissey

I think only Drouin/Duclair/Lazar make it...but even then , will they be performing at the NHL level come december...this team will be have lots of the top 95's available which will be great news.
