im assuming you are talking about nicolas roy because he is in the forward group.. but there is no way he is in any talks for making this team, not doing remotely good enough to make it as a draft eligible player, that coupled with the fact that there are many high pedigree players available this year.

Which Roy is near the top for defenseman scoring? Jeremy Roy?

yea the d man for sherbrooke very good young dman, i think more veteran dmen will be chosen but i could see him getting an invite to the training camp, next year will most likely be back in the Q and on the world junior team.

Speaking of Sherbrooke, Audette has been flying all year, he will be in serious contention for a 3rd or 4th line player, especially if they do in fact go with a more skilled bottom six instead of big defensive bodies (fingers crossed)

Yeah, I really agree with you. Audette is pretty sweet player to watch, he has lower body strength, good hands and a nifty, offensive player. If he doesn't make the team this year, I think he makes it next year for sure. God he's a fun guy to watch, Montreal has a great pick in the 5th round.

Okay... to answer my own question...

MacKinnon, Drouin, Lazar, Horvat, Duclair, Ekblad, Bennett (injury - any chance he comes back?)

Imagine if we had all these guys on the roster (LOL)? Posters from other countries like to say how Canada did not have a medal in the last two tournaments, and have not won Gold since 2009, but every year, some of the top names that can make Team Canada are always in the NHL. It is what it is. Looking forward to the tournament. I will be going to the games in Toronto.

Including the tournament two years ago in Ufa, during the lockout, where we finished 4th despite having all our best players available to us.

And other countries lose players to the NHL, as well - only it often seems worse for them because they don't have the same depth in their talent pool to fall back on.

Steve Spott. That is all.

One of the SN on-air talking heads last evening suggested it's a possibility Lazar would be released for the WJHC. I'd be in favor.

So when other countries lose a player(s) it's an acceptable excuse because of their lack of depth but when we lose 7 or 8 times more players than they do, it's NOT an excuse because of our excessive depth? :shakehead

If you have animosity towards your country and its hockey program, please find another thread. Direct that self-hatred elsewhere.

I hope Canadian Universities are preparing to update their books.

''How not to price an event featuring kids.''

Will be fun to see to thousands of empty seats in Montreal.

Idiot organizers. The pricing for this tournament is hilarious, no wonder they have trouble selling to the locals. Not that any european would actually come for this event but to just compare it says a ton when World Championship tickets are cheaper.

Miss the mystique of when this tournament was being played in those small arena's.

Shea Theodore returned to Seattle of the WHL, will push for a dman position on the team, very good on the powerplay and offensively, although i was not too impressed at his showing at the summer tournament

What are the odds Subban makes it. He is lighting up the OHL in scoring.
It depends because if HC wants to focus on getting atleast 1-2 RHDs on the team then I say he has a good chance. But if HC wants to take the 7 best defencemen, then I say his chances aren't as good.

I still have Nurse, Morrissey, Fleury, Bowey, Morin, Sanheim and Theodore ahead of him but the Super Series still has to be played and December camp. But my camp roster for defence is: 7 defencemen I mentioned above, Subban and Hicketts.

Good for Montrealers. Perhaps now HC will scale this tournament back a few notches and make it more about the hockey instead of a gross commercialized venture filling the pockets and egos of HC.

Fucale is struggling in the Q yet somehow Button still projects him as making the team which is sadly probably true. Don't get me wrong, I like him as a goalie but he had a terrible playoff last year and now he still hasn't figured it out. I don't want him facing the pressure of the World Juniors.

I don't think he should be there either. Barring he faces a lot of good scoring chances nightly in Halifax, in a short tournament you have to go with the hot hand. We have lots of capable goaltenders in this age group such as Comrie, Jarry, Appelby, Martin, Desrosiers etc.

We need to bring the hottest/most confident goalies going into camp.

Cole Cassels accepted an invite to play for the Super Series for the OHA. He is a dual citizen and was thought to be a pretty good bet to be considered for Team USA. He was invited to the USA national junior evaluation camp this past August, but did not attend it because of injury.

He played for Team Ontario before in the Under 17 tourney a couple of years ago, and even last month, said he never ruled out playing for Canada, even though he was invited to Team USA's summer camp. He is the OHL's 7th leading scorer, and by inviting him to play in the Super Series, i think he is on Hockey Canada's radar now. He has played very good hockey this season, and should be seriously considered for Canada's WJC team.

Our junior aged players in Canada are still the best. Too good because many of our eligible junior players are in the NHL now a days, and they miss the world junior tournament.
