Awesome backcheck by Gaudreau takes away a 3 on 1 for Belarus. Damn nice speed and hustle.

Monster shot from the slot by Johnny. Far side of the crossbar and in. Beautiful.

Someone said that you really can't identify Gaudreau by his size on the ice. I've been trying all game and I can't do it. He really does not appear as small as he is.

I agree, the likes of Stapleton and Johnson are listed to be about 2 inches taller than Johnny but he doesn't look extraordinarily small compared to them. It's only when guys try to knock pucks off him using the body, then he looks small but when he gets flying you really don't notice how diminutive he is. It's not like he's getting smoked off pucks either, he looks to have some strength.

Dam, I'm so mad I'm missing this. I really want to see a highlight of his goal.
I will describe best I can.

Brings puck in the offensive zone, makes a small move inside as he approaches the defender. Shoots through the defenseman's legs and picks the far top corner.

Gaudreau was actually really sloppy in the first period. Tons of giveaways, couldn't control the puck. And then in one instant he turns it on, scores a beauty goal and now leads the tournament in points, nbd.

Yeah, he was sloppy in the exhibition game against Germany as well. It took him some time to adjust to the NCAA, it took him some time to adjust at the World Juniors, and it took him until halfway through this game to adjust to the World Champtionships and he ended up with 3 points in the game. Because of that, I was surprised he played as well as he did in his NHL debut.

It's certainly a trend with him. Comes in like a wide-eyed puppy, takes his time to adjusts, and quickly becomes a beast.

What a goal! Honestly, I don't see how this kid doesn't become a 70pt player in 2-3 seasons time? His skill is all world, once his mind adjusts to the NHL, look out!

Thanks guys! But yeah that really blows hard about Sven, poor kid! I hope he's not hurt to bad.
