Well, now as I got over being mad, gotta give Swiss fans appreciation and love, crowds are really into this tournament, atmosphere is high and its positive, and I would like to see my favourite team in it play for real instead of playing bad. It's not a bad tournament, its just not a thing that Jokerit should do mid-sesaon IMO.

This would be perfect for Finnish national team, consisting from Swiss league players and some of best mestis players ect. Why not even Liiga players as Liiga is having xmas break too. It could serve as NT rookie camp, giving the most promising Liiga youngsters (high NHL draft picks and possible future high picks) chance to play in the Lion jersey.

I find it a bit harsh to label this tournament as some kind of a joke. In the end, it's the oldest ongoing hockey tournament in the world, one of the most watched annual sports events in Switzerland and the atmosphere is just something else.

Jokerit, however, are just sliding on the ice, avoiding injuries. If that's how you're going to perform, just let some more ambitious club take your spot.

Two completely deserved losses.

Liiga Christmas break ends after Christmas as always (first games on the 27th). There's no benefit at all for the players or the national team to take part.

Weirdly it seems to me that KHL teams used to care more about playing well in this tournament.

Remember Moscow, Minsk and SKA (08, 09, 10)?

Hopefully Jokerit will wake up and pull off a good performance against Team Canada.

I love this tournament and plan on attempting to go next year my only question is what my best bet is for accomodations and all that. Anyways, I find it ha sbeen very entertaining so far but I am missing the Czech teams, Medvescak should not be there and as far as this year either should Jokerit. I would rather watch Swedish, German or Czech teams than a team from Croatia. I'm a huge fan of these type of tournaments and I just wish that this one was a little bigger, maybe 8 teams (2 groups of 4) or 9 teams (3 groups of 3). I think Geneve will keep the undefeated streak alive and win er all again this year. Next year I would love to see a tournament of:

Team Canada
HC Davos
Geneve - Servette
SKA St Petersburg
Helsingin IFK
HC Vitkovice Steel

Thats just me wishing the world was perfect.

Anyways, thoughts on this years tournament?

I think they are limited in who they can invite because not all countries are on break during the tournament. I think the Swedish league is still playing, so they can't participate in the Spengler. Same with Finland.

I agree that it would be nice to see more variety, but there's only so much they can do.

Ah yes, I'd love to see some swedish, czech teams as well.
My perfect "lineup" would be

- Davos
- Canada
- SKA St. Petersburg
- Kärpät
- Sparta Praha
- Färjestad

Not very realistic, but nevertheless, I'd definitely would spend all week in Davos should this happen

IMO Spengler Cup for teams outside NLA should be just "National Teams" or some "All Star Teams" as real clubs traveling there and hectic schedule eats lots of energy. Spengler Cup isn't mega important for example for Jokerit --> KHL regular season is and their next game is 3rd of Jan. They have to think also saving some energy, like it or not. I just hope they get away from this tournament with out any injuries. My only hope atm. Jokerit's passing game in this tournament have looked like Mestis-team's...that happens when you are not totally focused.

Spengler Cup is cool though but IMO not for clubs far away from Switzerland or Central Europe.

If KHL wants to continue this "marketing" --> make the KHL game schedules then little bit better.

Yeah would be nice to see teams from finnish and swedish league too in Sprengler cup. Now in chl quarter finals there were 5 teams from sweden and 3 from finland. Skelleftea and Kärpät once again likely going to finals.

Two completely deserved losses. Easy to agree.

But I'm unsure if it was 100% teams decision to go to Sprengler cup this season, as it is hectic enough for jokerit being the first khl season. Probably khl had some influence for the decision too and they wanted to send Jokerit this time for marketing purposes (kinda ironic with these performances )

It's very unlikely that Geneva takes part in the 2015 edition, even if they win again this year.. Lugano might go instead.

Not happening.

Pretty boring 1st period between Ufa and Zagreb. Unfortunately for Zagreb their scoring woes continue. Right after a Zagreb PP Ufa pots one and lead 1-0 after the 1st period.

Still 1-0 Ufa after 2 periods. Zagreb play a good defensive game but they just don't have any skill to score. They're going to have to get more aggressive and pinch in their D a lot more to create some offense

Ville Leino should go to jail for robbing Zagreb of whatever they are giving him because he was invisible out there. He couldn't care less about the game. A 2 on 1 in the 3rd and he misses the net..you have to at least hit the net if you're going to take the shot. Zagreb was terrible, 1 goal scored in 3 games. Wow

Lol MacIntyre... I was watching him psyche himself up before the puck drop, looked away for 30 seconds, when I looked back up Jokreit already scored

Jokerit finally showed up? or Canada hit the bars last night? :D

Moses and Omark

2-0

You talking about hitting the bar again! :D

Nice to see there was a game tonight too. Just was wondering what to watch when going to sleep. And Jokerit is leading!
