Even if Iginla was free, we're talking about losing 3-4 key players at other positions, and people are suggesting we improve the deepest position on the team.

Come on. It's ridiculous.

We'll have so many wingers we can fill in those holes.

Seriously, how the **** is this team going to allocate another 7-9 mil to another RW?

Because you can play Nash at LW. 3.5.-4 per year. Otherwise we can't fit it. Slot Miller and Lindberg on the team. That cuts room. Try to acquire Ehrhoff. You want to get a center, but none that are legitimate upgrades are ****ing available. We need help on the PP.

Nash at LW? What exactly have you been watching this past two seasons?

If he loves LW so much, why was Gaborik the sacrificial lamb that went to LW when they were both on the same line?

If Nash is so unhappy shifting to LW and/or feels uncomfortable shifting there after playing there for 8 ****ing seasons so that we can acquire Jarome Iginla, this team has bigger problems than I thought.

Things really went well in '12-13 when the Rangers tried to stack the top of the lineup by playing guys out of position.

More importantly, how the **** are they even going to field a team that even has an inkling of depth if you're paying Iginla on top of everyone else that needs to get paid?

(estimations for 2014-15)
SALARY CAP: $69,000,000; CAP PAYROLL: $69,461,667; BONUSES: $445,000
CAP SPACE (20-man roster): -$461,667

1/2 a mil rolls over. figure another 2 mil to ice some backups, unless they dont wanna do that, and 2.5 mil will roll over to next year.

Cap should be up near 71 mil next season. It's right. Rangers might have to make some moves to make it work next year.

I dont think it has anything to do with Nash being unhappy. I think if the answer is to bring in ANOTHER RW in the form of a 37 year old Jarome Iginla, this team has bigger problems than I thought.

This team needs depth everywhere BUT right wing. What an ass-backwards idea.

Well, in fairness I said you'd have to convince him to take something like 2 years, $4M per, not 5, and you can play hardball with Kreider to cut another 600-700K. Getting a C is not going to happen. We should really just go with Stepan/Brassard/Miller.

I'm at a loss for ideas, but many of you are advocating that every potential move is terrible, yet none of you are bringing your own thoughts to the table other than puck possession this or Stralman that. Go ahead, enlighten me as to a realistic way to improve the C position, replace Stralman, and have an effective 4th line.

Signing Iginla wouldn't be so terrible when our PP is Top 10 in the NHL and he scores 25 goals next year, would it.

If he loves LW so much, why was Gaborik the sacrificial lamb that went to LW when they were both on the same line?

Because brad richards was the center. he's left handed. he would favor passing to nash more as a lefty.

Gabby as a left handed left winger would be a better setup many for both the lefties playing with him. it wasnt the best setup, i was never for it. but even torts mentioned he wanted Nash playing the right side with a left handed centerman. with stepan, as a righty, you want him on the left side.

What the hell aren't you guys understanding.

We have 2 LWs.

3 RWs.

Iginla plays RW.

Nash, one of our RWs, can also play LW.

Shift Nash to LW.

Therefore, 3 LWs and 3 RWs.

It's really not that complicated...

Yet, he played virtually the entire season with Stepan on the right side. I guess that was just a trick.

the power play needs a right handed shooter. 1 righty forward on the entire power play. 1.

Stepan. Thats it.

Historically the teams that have multiple right handed options tend to be the most lethal. Iginla can rip it too, hes not a bum. hes a 30+ goal scorer anually for a reason. he was also, arguably, bostons best forward in the playoffs.

It amazes me that even after this team has tried to move Nash to the LW multiple times with no success, people still act like it's a possibility.

it's been said a million times he was LW in CLB. Actually Brassard was likely his C. Its not nuts to think Nash replaces poo on that line and they go Kreider, Stepan, MSL

That's the top 6 best offensive players on paper. Hagelin is a perfect 3rd line LW. Miller and Moore can battle for 3rd line time.

To me they need a guy that can play both LW/RW. Should not be hard they are professionals

Indeed.

Iginla is going to command a large salary. We can't afford to spend that much on a luxury. We need to be build a cohesive, competitive roster. If we're in a position to have some cap space once that is done, only then would I make a move like Iginla.

he played vritually the entire season with no set center. he played with brassard, richards, and stepan. hell i think at one point boyle was centering him.

he played left, he played right, they had him all over the place. they were trying to do whatever they could to get Gabby and Richards going. both guys sucked. Nash kept scoring no matter where you put him that season.

signing iginla lets you move nash to the left side. hes been effective there before. not just effective, dominant.

it gives you another shooter who is a right handed shot, it also gives you net front presence and addresses nearly everyones request to get bigger up front.

it also allows you to "circumvent" the cap by rolling salary over to next year.

the only question is can they sign Ehrhoff too.

if i had to pick between Ehrhoff and Iginla, id take Ehrhoff.
