I guess Vigneault kept him there all year just for ***** and giggles, despite this team having all sorts of issues on the left side.

I'm sorry... before we traded for MSL.. we clearly had a RW of Nash's caliber where we could move him right...?

if we had Gaborik or someone like iginla a true RW, Nash would be playing the LW under AV, I'm certain of it.

yep fair enough.

again, i dont think Iginla is a do or die scenario.

i think he solves a lot of problems. he checks a lot of the boxes we need, and his age actually benefits us with getting to roll his salary over to next year.

to me Ehrhoff would be priority 1. I think he solves most of the issues we have on the back end with regards to bringing more offense and transitioning the puck up.

and heck, if we could bring back BOTH stralman AND Ehrhoff then deal Klein for a draft pick, id be all over it, and be willing to have a weaker group up front to have such a stacked back end.

If we could bring in Ehrhoff and Stralman and move Klein, that would be ridiculous  I'd run with Miller/Fast/Lindberg/whatever to make that happen.

Oh and btw, when Nash-Stepan and MSL played together towards the end of the season (and when Kreider was hurt), it was actually somewhat succesful, and MSL sure wasn't playing the LW..

We'd have a great defense (once again) and once again, not enough scoring. so once again, we might get close, and lose. You have to be able to score goals in the NHL. Stralman for 4-5M doesn't do that, so its a dumb idea , especially if you get Erhoff.

he played both sides in Columbus. it was really just trying to get the guys around him going. he was a 40 goal scorer on both sides of the rink. great player, doesnt need much to play with. im in agreement with 31. you dont necessarily need to try to build a line to make him work, you can build the line and stick him on it wherever and he'll do his thing. hes more of an individual than a line kinda guy. get him his breakaways and make space for him. thats really all you need to do. guy is a lock to score 35 a year.

He's a lock to score 35 a year?

He hasn't scored that many in 5 years.

He hasn't even come close as a Ranger.

He's a lock to score 25. That's about it.

This isn't 2007.

While he certainly has the ability to score 40+, to say he's a lock to score 35, especially after such a horrible finish to the season offensively is a bit...

yeah Nash def played some LW last season. Not much though.

when we first had Nash-Richards-Gaborik together and both in their rightful spots, remember how good that line was in the beginning?.. then we said we had too much scoring on one line, and the result, was no line scored much, until we made the trade with CBJ.

NO ONE is saying to lose all the depth just to bring in Iginla.. If we can do it AND have depth, then you do it IMO.. no question.. He could probably replace what Stralman is going to want.. and yes, I'll take a slight hit on defense to upgrade the offense, especially when Henrik Lundqvist is playing behind the defense.

If he plays 80 games, he'll score at least 30, and probably more like 35. He's averaged 35 per 82 as a Ranger. He's had some injuries, if you haven't noticed.

Anyone remember the last RW we hd who "couldn't play on the left?" same guy that just won the Cup and led the NHL in playoff goals... as a LW...

Im not so shocked about the Nash RW/LW debate.

I am shocked that this debate came about in an attempt to fit a 37 year old Jarome Iginla into the lineup. It shows a stunning lack of awareness regarding the team's current situation and where they need to improve.

size?.. toughness? goals?.. power play?.. perhaps leadership with richards being gone and boyle and maybe Moore?

again, not at the expense of Depth, but if we CAN and keep the depth, why not?

I've always liked Iginla, and having a contract expire after a couple years is appealing, but I just think the Rangers already have their scorers in MSL and Nash (we can debate their effectiveness, but the amounts paid to them suggest), and I don't think there's enough $$$ to go around to acquire a guy like Iginla. I don't think he's done in his career, but again, I just don't think it's the best use of funds given where so much funds are tied up at the moment.

I do, they played well but I don't think it lasted too long.

I don't know why, but both Torts and AV heavily prefer Nash on the right. He played the left in CBJ for years. Maybe they like the idea of him on his off-wing so he can get his shot off quicker but I think he can use his size more effectively on the left.

Either way, I'm not looking to pay another winger 5 mill in Iginla.

Because I dont see any conceivable way the Rangers can address their serious issues at center, in the bottom 6, and on defense while signing Iginla.

In fact, I cant wait until tomorrow so the conversation can start shifting to realism rather than "Hey, why not"
