Iginla makes this team better. He had an excellent season and wouldn't hurt the team long term.

The current situation also includes a lack of righty shots, a lack of veteran experience, a lack of net presence and a lack of power forwards.

Iginla improves the team. The issue is playing him or someone else off their natural position.

MZA would be the likely candidate. Remains to be seen if that line is hurt by adding Iginla and moving MZA to the left side.

I also think MZA would be the likely candidate to switch sides. I gotta admit a Zucc-Brass line with Iginla instead of Pouilot sounds really intriguing (and I liked Pouilot).

I played some wing in travel and I'm a lefty, I preferred to play RW. To me, being able to open my body to face the net led to many options - pass, shoot, etc. Coming down the ice on the LW definitely limited my options to pass, I wasn't as comfortable shooting from that side, especially when most goaltenders catch lefty and the middle of the net was where their catching glove is.

Defensively, I agree, LW was easier for me. But I always preferred RW.

Honestly, at the NHL level, with a player of Nash's caliber, if this is really an issue, I don't know what to say. He should be able to play LW or RW and score 25-35 goals. I don't see any reason why he wouldn't. If he preferred RW to LW or something, that's different, but if this is some poster being afraid that he'll be ineffective at LW, I mean, give me a break.

yeah, im a righty and i prefer playing either LW or RD (im the captain of my team so i literally stick myself wherever we have a hole)

and i agree, playing the left side as a righty is much easier to score, but when i play RW its much easier to pass and see the ice. when i play my off wing i get tunnel vision. i only see the net. :)

defense to me is the opposite, i literally can not play LD...i mean i can, if i have to, but its SOOOOO damn difficult to play your offside as a defenseman. significantly harder than playing whatever side you dont like as a winger.

LOL btw... just to freak you guys out...

How the hell could chicago even afford him? and LOL when Toews/Kane are up for new deals...

So I guess that means we are out since we have our own players to lock up too.. although I wouldn't be shocked if the Rangers dove into the Stastny waters.

it could be ridiculous. Iginla can score, put him with a playmaker like Zucc and you could have a serious offensive threat as your 3rd line.

I played RD in juniors...it was a learning process. I had no problems at the point, but struggled in my own zone to move the puck effectively, essentially going to my backhand often which is dangerous. I agree with you on that.

This is definitely a consideration - although the cap will go up. A 1 year deal for Iginla (no bonus) for like $4M would be perfect. Don't think he'd take that, he'll get better offers.

If he got 2 years at that price with the potential to get back to the cup, I think your in the ballpark.. hell you may be close to the action.

And I'd be fine with a 2 year / 8 Mil total for Iginla.

I got the best replacement for Stralman..

Michael Del Zotto.. :help::sarcasm:

Okay I will now go duck and cover.. haha. In all seriousness, it will be interesting to see where he ends up.

Here's a question for you guys... would you rather give 4M+ to the 37 y/o Boyle (heavily rumored) or Iginla? for me that's an easy no brainer..

Haven't seen anybody else eliminated from Stastny list, I doubt we get him but a tweet from LeBrun:

Pierre LeBrun @Real_ESPNLeBrun · 36m

Winnipeg Jets didn't make the cut as Stastny camp shortens list of suitors today

Iginla AINEC.

Here's my preferred players to go for.

1)Ehrhoff
2)Grabovski
3)Iginla

After that it gets dicier.

And of course im not talking about our own UFAs...i want em all back...at the right price.

If we got Dan Boyle and Brian Boyle...

Boyle squared, twice the Boyle twice the fun.

Eh just thought of it. Is it noon yet?

It's not the 3rd kine anymore. Wasn't after January. That's our 2nd or even top line.

What the hell aren't you guys understanding.

We have 2 LWs.

3 RWs.

Iginla plays RW.

Nash, one of our RWs, can also play LW.

Shift Nash to LW.

Therefore, 3 LWs and 3 RWs.

It's really not that complicated...

Yeah it's just that easy!

Rather than address other needs, let push someone to LW who has been playing good hockey at RW, and get Iginla!!!!

BTW... is it noon Tuesday yet..?

NHL Rumors ‏@NHLRumorsDaily 3h
*BREAKING*... Hearing NYR is trying to get Eric Staal from the Canes. Preliminary stages but Sather placed a call

Don't think we can afford to have 4-5 million players to play on the 3rd line.
