I have to wonder if Sather wants more nastiness in this group of guys.

Physicality and nastiness was definitely lacking last year. Perhaps targeting guys with that mindset.

its crossed my mind and scares me. he always signs a Rupp , Boogard, etc and it never works

I don't think AV will want anything to do with Malhotra.

“But,” Vigneault said. The coach paused. “He had a real serious injury where we (the Canucks) felt, as an organization with our medical staff, he was putting himself in a tough situation on the ice. Like I showed him a couple of times (on video) – quite a few times I showed him – Manny, did you see this guy here? Most of the time he’d answer that he could feel them, or see him. In my opinion, there was a gray area there.

I'd target Iginla. The more I think about it the more I like it.

Kreider gritty forward on top line.
Iginla gritty forward on next line.
Hagelin isn't as gritty but he's adding a little bit of snarl to his game. He definitely isn't afraid to get hit to go to the net.
1 more guy to replace Boyle.

I think that type of mentality is what drives winning teams.

good call that wont happen.

Aaron Rome coming our way on a 2 way deal?

Any talk at all on Diaz? He would be a good spare.

Hoping they find someone solid out of left field.

Vitale might be a solid guy to sign for the 4th line.

I'm interested to see who takes the Sabres money, 20.5 million to get to the floor. Only notable RFA they need to sign is Ennis.

Tons of players not getting QO's including our once beloved MDZ. Going to be a stronger market than people expected to see I think, and probably quite a few bargain bin deals. I trust our pro scouts, they brought guys in like Pouliot and Moore they can replace them if need be.

Scratch that, NSH is trying to trade MDZ and then they have to make a decision.

There would be no risk at all with Iginla on a 1 year deal if we could pull that off..

I wonder if the same people who say No to Iginla, also said no to MSL last year...

The tug of war regarding Malhotra's development right after he was drafted was one of the more disgusting sagas of the dark ages.

Neil Smith should have taken 2 or 3 of Colorado's 4 no. 1 picks they had that year (I doubt COL would've offered all 4; though I remember COL wanted Malhotra badly) for the pick he used to take Malhotra. Maybe I'm remembering this wrong but wasn't there a rumour of Adam Graves, the no. 6 overall pick for Colorado's four no. 1 picks (#12, 17, 19, and 20 overall)?

Malhotra was rushed because the team the team needed to get younger, plus the team rarely had an early first round pick and Smith wanted to showcase him. I think Malhotra at the time was among the players that were rated to be closest to being NHL ready at the time; obviously, it didn't turn out that way.

They needed offense at the time, but Malhotra wasn't that type of player. The kid's development was severely stunted. Of course, the relationship between Smith and Muckler didn't help either. The kid never had a chance to develop properly with the Rangers because of issues beyond his control. He did become a useful player in the NHL (before his eye injury), but only after he left the NYR organization.

why?

consistent 30+ goal scorer, big, tough, goes to the net, right handed shot. lots to like. plus, he can have his salary rolled over to next year if hes on a 1 year deal.

I'd rather not roll over his salary and just sign him to a 2 year deal at a lower AAV.

His bonus contract effectively screwed the Bruins. I'd take him on a 1yr deal but I don't think you want to load it up with too many bonuses.

Which of our current RW's is he replacing? Because he's not comfortable at all playing an entire game on the LW.

Zucc? move him to LW.. Nash? move him to LW.. Remember when the line of Nash-Richards-Gaborik was killing early on and then we split it up... Nash was playing LW.

I'd have no problem with Iginla on a 1 year deal. But he will probably get 2-3 on the market. He's not going back to the Bruins though they have literally 0 cap space.

I got a weird feeling he could go to Florida or Calgary though.

Lol he wants to win. The rangers are a good fit for him.

I suggested Iginla weeks ago and everyone **** on it saying he couldn't play LW.

He's exactly what we need on the PP - Big RH shot that can release a ****ing one timer.

Would love it if we could make it work. Don't think it will though.

Iggy is 36 and we're stacked on the RW.

If we didn't trade for MSL, maybe. But with Nash-MSL-Zucc there's no need for Iginla.

Or top 3 lines would look pretty tough to defend against:

LW: Kreider, Hagelin, Nash (to accomodate Iginla)
C: Stepan, Brassard, Miller
RW: MSL, Iginla, Zucc

By my count:

5, 60 + point players
3, 40 + point players
1 rookie who could range from 35-45 points.
