Sure isn't big.
Fayne has great possession numbers, would be a solid replacement for Stralman. Although, would be interesting to see him off the Devils as they are a great possession team. If you get Fayne 2.9 million feels like a lot to pay Klein to play on the 3rd pair.
We have one good run, and all these people want to get paid. geez
They are free agents.
Why is this anyone's fault? Why do you frame it as if these players owe the Rangers something?? (Or vice versa)
I'd argue they should have been gotten paid all along. We have one good run, and all these people want to get paid. geez

Yeah, but they are bottom 6 guys in your scenario. that's doable no question.

Which is the real underlying issue here. How many players on this squad were some kind of reclamation project gone awry that the Rangers either turned around or let them find success on a unlikely run to the Finals?
Brassard: Enigmatic and streaky player, on the trade block with Columbus for years.
Boyle: Former first rounder traded for a 3rd who became an elite 4th line defensive center.
Stralman: Nearly found himself out of the league before the Rangers gave him a shot.
Pouliot: Nomad of the highest order, streaky but effective 5v5 player.
Moore: Bounce back player after a year off from hockey.
Zucc: Undrafted midget from Europe who may have only got a chance because of a good Olympics tournament.
All of these guys are trying to cash in now and find some kind of security and regularity in their careers, something they probably deserved all along.
6'0 205 is not small
Zucc got a chance because he was the MVP of the Swedish Elite League
Oilers to meet with Mark Fayne camp thursday. 27yrs 6-3 rh shut down guy. 6 -7 teams interested. Likely wants 4-5 yr deal.
Se, this is what I can’t understand about the way Glen Sather does business.
It’s beyond me, just beyond me, why the Rangers GM would risk losing such an important piece as Jody Shelley in order to perhaps pursue someone else he can’t know will fit as well the universally respected enforcer who came to the Rangers in February and immediately established himself as a badly needed force off the ice as well as on it.
Three days before the free-agent market opens and Sather, we’re told by several sources, has yet to make an offer to the enforcer who was so well regarded by his teammates in San Jose that they were prepared to award him a Stanley Cup ring had the Sharks won, and was equally respected by teammates in New York
The Rangers have made too many mistakes on big contracts — and we all know what they are — not to know that the ice is not always shinier and slicker on another rink. In two months of wearing the Blueshirt, Shelley established himself as important fabric of team. Yet, Sather seems willing to risk losing him.
I don’t get it.
3 years for Dominic Moore? No thank you.
Mark Fayne is not going to come cheap.

I know Moore is a great guy and everything. He always overplays his hand in contract talks. Brian Burke wanted to re-sign Moore with the Leafs. He wanted crazy money and Burke traded him to the Sabres for a pick. Moore always signs those 1 year contracts. He is another guy looking to cash in off the Rangers success. That's his right but the Rangers should't give him 3 years.
Brooks loves Moore and he feels the Rangers are making a big mistake if they don't re-sign him.
Larry felt the same in 2010 about Jody Shelley

Philly gave Shelley 3 years/$3.3M and they immediately regretted that contract.
I was very proud of Sather when he resisted signing that contract. That only last for a couple minutes, though...Philly gave Shelley 3 years/$3.3M and they immediately regretted that contract.
This is the part that bothers me as a fan about the UFA process.
Because I was never contacted for an NHL contract, I suppose it's easy for me to say. Garbage organizations and the like. But when you have success with a team, stability would be worth a lot of me over payment. Especially when we're in the millions.
Still, NYR should be offering stability to Moore. A long term contract at a reasonable rate like 1 million isn't an issue.
