i know this isnt popular with most ranger fans, but this is what i would do in the offseason

Kreider/skjei/2nd for Thornton
if sharks say no

Sign David Legwand on 1 year deal
try to sign Pouliot, if not go after
Setoguchi, steve downie, or even Heatley{yes not kidding]
resign Stralman

Kreider for Thornton is a hell no.. We could get ROR who is 23 for him.

I would do that trade for Spezza, and Kesler if the Canucks added. Not Thornton.

Just buy out Richards and trade 1 staalwart. Minor tweaks to get more offense.

Agreed. I think it's very important to try and keep the core of this group in tact as much as possible.

Blowing up the team is a terrible idea... we need TWEAKS (which is what yours is).

I wouuldn't mind giving Staal, Miller and a prospect/pick for ROR and a D-man (Elliott for instance) and buff up our offense.

I know Miller is a very talented center, but we are not in the position to have him develop in 3 to 4 years. We have MSL for 1 more year and hopefully 2 more but that's it. We need to flip some talents for NHL-ready players.

You have to admit once and for all that unless/until we get a younger, faster guy (like 22 year old Kesler) instead, we are required to conclude that Miller IS the guy to link with speedsters Kreider + MSL.

Stop with the bs about waiting for Miller.
This is not an issue of maturity. It is a matter of complementary matching physical attributes. Other things, to some degree can be taught. Not speed. Plus this is a speed system.

SECOND,
the prize is NOT Spezza. He's that interim upgrade at C you guys want to gamble on, but he is not the prize.

We NEED to move a boatload of people, either because of cap or talent upgrade.

Don't expect it to somehow suddenly be dramatically better if it is virtually the same team!

This team just made the Stanley Cup Final. I think the core is established pretty well and there isn't a need to shake up the majority of the roster.

His size on the PK could hurt, but we have many guys who can PK well.

Ryan O'Reilly apparently had shoulder surgery recently, which he is still recovering from. He's expected to be ready for training camp, but it will be interesting to see which team he'll be playing for by then. He appears to be embroiled in another sticky contract situation with the Avalanche and there's a possibility that he could be traded.

Yeah, but if they dont sign him before July 1st. they can lose him easily IMO.
