It's an upgrade, but it's an incremental one. ROR-Brassard-Miller still gets thoroughly outclassed by teams like the Kings. ROR-Stepan-Brassard would be a massive, massive step up.

Obviously, keeping Stepan would be a big plus. But I don't think he's a make or break player for a deal for ROR.

It doesn't even make any sense for Colorado. The idea behind moving ROR is that they have a glut of top centers. Why would they swap ROR if the main piece is Stepan?

How many would move Kreider for him since we have a lot of wingers and Center is a glaring need?.. You basically get the same points (Kreider will probably be a 25-25 guy) but a more important position.

Not I. A combination of that size and speed is rare, plus he has a heavy shot. He's only scratching the surface, and as he gets a little more selfish he'll score more goals. You build around guys like Kreider, not trade them to fill other holes.

That's a fair point. Honestly, I hadn't considered it from the Avalanche's perspective. Is the problem the glut of players or is it the price of ROR?

Combination of both, I'd say, although, for the record, he played most of this season at LW.

It makes sense that they'd be looking for defense. Staal is the logical piece to build a package around, unless they want Girardi (and he's willing to waive his NMC).

Hey, like I said, he would not be the first guy I would put in a deal.. I just think center trumps LW, and ROR put up 64 points himself.

And he had a great year. To me, that sounds like it's more of an issue of cost.

Agreed, but I think the glut of talented forwards and the lack of quality D also plays a hand in it, because moving ROR could definitely help improve their blueline dramatically.

I don't know if I agree with paying Zucc 4.5M right away. He was phenomenal this season, but its one season, remember Stepan last year? cautiously optimistic..but 4.5 is a hell of a raise based on one season

also, I dont see Pouilot coming back..

Lundqvist, McD, and Kredier.

That's pretty much me too, but I think if push comes to shove I'd include Kreider (as the main piece obviously), because wingers are easier to come by then shut down centers who put up 60 points. He's basically a Bergeron. I love Kreider, but you guys want to get a top center (or at least potentially one), you gotta give up some value.

Y not ROR for Staal and Brassard and a 2nd rounder... Obviously it's an over pay but I'm we need good center depth and that'd be a great move for younger depth up the middle with size

yep, definite overpay.. Brassard has been really good in the playoffs I'd like to keep him, but at the same time, Stepan is more of a #2C than Brassard is...

Was on the main board.. on one of the many ROR threads..

Colorado fan proposed Staal + JT for ROR and Elliot.

I don't see that as an overpay. I'd take ROR-Stepan-Miller-Moore/Lindberg down the middle and run.
