The problem with this setup is there is absolutely zero offense from the right side of the defense.

I agree. But Girardi has a full NMC, and I sure as hell don't want to lose our 2nd best d-man for nothing.

If you think Sather is going to allow J.T. Miller to center the second line next season you're out of your mind. He just tasted what it was like to be in the finals again for the first time in 24 years and he will want to get back to the finals as soon as possible. He's already traded away our next two 1st round picks. He has one goal and will do everything he can to accomplish it.

Sather will be very, very busy this offseason.

Bye bye 2016 and 17 first rounders

I don't have time to do cap geek if some could for me that'd be great to see if my idea for next year works.

- Buy out Richards.
- Resign Zucc 4 years $3.75/year.
- Resign Moore 2 years $1.75/year.
- Resign Pouilet 1 year $2.00.
- Resign Boyle 3 years 2.5/year.
-Resign Brassard 2 years 3.75/year.
- Resign Stralman 3 years $3.2/year.
- Trade Dorsett for a pick/prospect at draft and replace him with Fast.
- Resign Carrillo 1 year $750k.
- Trade Staal to the Avs for ROR. Add pieces on each side if needed. Resign him 4 years $5.5/year.
- Sign Nikita Nikitin 2 years $2.75/year.
- Resign J. Moore 2 years $1.5/year
- Resign Kreider 2 years $2.5/year.

Kreider - Stepan - Nash
Hagelin - ROR - MSL
Pouilet - Brassard - Zucc
Boyle - Moore - Fast
Carcillo

McD - Girardi
Nikitin - Stralman
Moore - Klein

Lundqvist
Talbot

EDIT: looks like I'm off by about $1.3 million. Oh well!

1) What do you think we can re-sign:
Zucc, Kreider, Brassard, Boyle, John Moore

2) Upgrade center with Stasny or somebody

3) Sign Dan Boyle or similar?

In my view this is what the Rangers need:

Kreider-Stasny-St. Louis
Haglen-Stepan-Nash
Zucc-Brassard-Pouliet
Miller-Boyle-Dorsett

McD-Girardi
Staal-Boyle
Moore-Klein

I'll definitely pass on Boyle (Dan). And I would like Stastny but not at the price he is likely going to receive.

The only thing I want to know is how to get Paul Stastny on this team. Step 1 is obviously buy out Richards, but who else has to walk? Stralman?

I really hate to say it but 1 of Pouliot/Hagelin needs to go in exchange for a big, gritty right hand shot winger. I'm not opposed to packaging Miller and Hagelin (this playoffs was a huge showcase for him and he has good value) for a 25/30 goal right handed wing. The balance of this team is out of wack; part of the reason we have trouble finishing is that each of our top 9 LWs are left handed shots and are often not on their forehand on loose puck opportunities.

He's not gritty at all so not the best example but a guy like Vrbata would be huge for us; a right handed shot that can finish. Need more balance than just Stepan and Dorsett (LOL) as the right handed shots throughout the forward group

Amnestying Richards will give us something like $23.7 million in cap space to sign UFAs Stralman, Boyle, and D. Moore plus RFAs Zuccarello, Kreider, Brassard, and J. Moore. We will be lucky just to lock those guys up. I don't see room for additions barring a Nash trade, or a Staal trade at the very least. We're going to have to rely on internal improvement for next year, barring some very creative moves by management. None of this year's free agents are great options anyway. I give a big fat no to Stastny and the same to a potential Spezza deal. No more aging semi-stars please.

McIlrath + Hagelin to OTT for Spezza

As much as I'm really not a huge fan of Spezza, he's exactly what we need. An offensive minded, right handed shot center. He can both playmake and finish, and only has a year left on his deal so the risk is low.

Agreed on No to Stastny and Spezza.

Bringing in these aging "Stars" has never worked.

Lol no. Yeah, let's trade cheap young players for an expensive, older player with 1 year left on his contract.

It continues to amaze me how people offer Hagelin in every deal. Why? Don't give me this crap that we got to give to get because there's no reason why we should be trading Hagelin. He's a perfect fit for this team.

Stastny is 28. Hasn't had any injury issues. If we had the money (And maybe we do) I wouldn't have a problem getting him. Just, how much does he want?

He's going to get paid like a star player and he's really not that good. If Steven Stamkos actually makes it to UFA in two years, that's the guy you go after.

This, and its a blessing in disguise. The free agent market sucks. Focus on our own.

We don't. Buying out Richards will leave us about enough cap space to re-sign everyone else. Stastny will get at least 6 mil a year. Both Stralman and Zucc will get about 4 mil each. You want to let them both walk and replace them with sub-1 mil players so that we can afford Stastny? I don't.

I don't see Stamkos bolting Tampa Bay. They'll throw the bank at him. I'd sooner see JT leave the Islanders and even then, I see him playing in his hometown Toronto.

TSN reported that there could be offer sheets up to 6M a year for Zuccarello, can or will the Rangers match that?

But if Zucc actually declines 2M a year just to be a Ranger he'll probably be the first in history to do something like that.

I guess there's a chance he may have played his last game here, but I still believe he'll end up with a long term deal.

6M? Seriously?

I thought one of the things making rounds that due to the cap situation, the Rangers would lob off someone on the blue line (Let Stralman walk or trade Staal) and call up Allen.

Wouldn't a team putting out that substantial of an offersheet have to fork over major amounts of draft picks? Also, I have a hard time seeing someone actually trying to **** with the Ranger RFAs.
