Damn. I don't think Varly can even keep us afloat through this one.

Sucks. Get well soon EJ .

That said.
3-8 weeks.
What kind of estimate is that?
Better than week-to-week with a LBI I guess.

That should seal it. I can't envision us making the playoffs with EJ being out that long.

If I were a betting man, I would say imaging showed a meniscus tear, and they won't know the exact extent until they actually get inside with the scope.

Well we are truly ****ed, the slight hopes of playoffs should be put to rest.
What's our defense going to look like? Hejda-General, Holden-Barrie, Redmond - Stuart? God Almighty have mercy on our souls

3-8 weeks?

What the hell kind of time-table is that? I mean, I'm no doctor, but it just seems too large of a gap.

But the larger picture--get well EJ, this could almost effectively end his season (if it's on the 8 week side of things)...he was having such a great year too.

Well... that sucks. We are going to see how good Barrie really is during this stretch.

Would definitely love to see a guy get a chance that's been down in the AHL all year. Noreau jumps to mind...

Ideally though, I'd like for them to give Siemens a taste, see how he responds. He's such a mean SOB that I wonder if he would work better with being coached by Foote and Tourigny with the Avs.

Ugh. He already is struggling under his heavy workload.

Now he will have to act as our de facto #1.
He will also be the only D that excels at moving the puck (besides Redmond to a lesser extend).

Yeah. That will go well :sarcasm:.

Atleast Hejda is better than Guenin.

Or we will get to see a Hejda - Stuart top pairing :D.

Nope. Game over, folks. Too bad, he was really having a nice season.

This 3-8 week thing sounds like they think he has injury A or injury B, but they won't know until they go in to fix injury A.

Anyway, I don't think the Avs can overcome this. They overcame (to a point) the Varlamov injury(ies) because Pickard came up and surprised everyone. What now? Is Redmond or Stuart going to adequately replace EJ for some stretch?

3 weeks gets EJ back with a half dozen or so games left before the deadline. 8 weeks gets him back with 10 or so games to go in the season. Not sure that latter one is worth it, given where the Avs will likely be in the standings after two months without him. Neither is likely going to work.

Without EJ, the Avs have a rather remarkably poor defensive corps. We may be in for some pretty brutal hockey here.

EDIT: Oh wait, it says he already had a knee scope. I have no idea why there is a 5 week gap there.

Wow, what a bummer. Hope EJ will be fine. Hate them knee injuries.

I don't care about the playoffs, I just want EJ to get healthy asap and to a full extent. We'll need him throughout the next years.
