He figured in 5 of their 6 goals tonight, impressive. It doesn't hurt playing with Dal Colle, but still.

So on the OHL site he's listed as 5'11". For anyone who has seen him recently, is that a bunch of crap or has he actually grown? Maybe he will go through a late growth spurt like Toffoli, who was kind of small in Juniors. Toffoli always had that physicality to his game though, not sure if Watson has that at all.

He is under 6'0" no doubt. I'd say 5'11" is probably a fair go of it. He was listed as 5'10" last year and still is on several other pages.

Glad to hear that's accurate. I remember he was pretty dang small when he was drafted, under 5'10" for sure. He's got a long way to go but things are looking up for him.

Plus the overtime winner in Game 5.

Peterborough mounted a comeback and won the game, 7-5.

Amadio also had an assist. So he had a hand in 4 of the 5 points North Bay scored, but now the series is tied 3-3.

Mistele had an assist as Sarnia won 5-1 and tied their series up 3-3.

Sharipzyanov had an assist as Owen Sound lost to London 5-2. They are eliminated from the playoffs.

Sharipzyanov might be able to play in Ontario, especially with Gravel being called up.

Amadio with 2 goals and an assist in a 4-1 win. He now has 14 points and seven playoff games. Therefore comma the Kings have the top two scorers in the OHL playoffs after the first round.

At this point, it's no stretch to say that Mike Amadio is our best prospect. Better than Kempe imo.

Its quite a huge stretch. Kempe will badly outplay Amadio next year. He is further along and has much higher upside.

Amadio will be a rookie-pro so that's a fair statement, but his upside imo is a two-way 2C. Kempe is a great prospect too, but defensively he's not as solid, and that's an area where he's had a tough time adjusting to the pro game. I have no doubts that he'll figure it out, but Amadio is a more well-rounded prospect right now.

I thought it was interesting re: Amadio that the thing the org wanted him to work on was puck protection. Add that to his own comments on himself re: skating and his apparently nonstop hard work and I think he'll be a gem. If there's an organization that can develop a guy who wants to develop, it's ours. I'm stoked to have Amadio, even if he becomes nothing more than a bottom-sixer. Watching those playoff highlights is really encouraging; he's a man amongst boys out there and will undoubtedly have to learn to deal with bigger, faster players, but it's encouraging that at least at the level he's supposed to, he can put a team on his back.

It's the same issue I have with drafting 'defensive' d-men; often they're playing d-only at that level because they don't have the tools to dominate. Amadio has the tools to dominate the OHL, but apparently the IQ/two-way game--that encourages me that his reads will be top-notch at the pro level.

He's certainly ascended but I wouldn't put him over Kempe in straight offense. Hard to say he's more 'well-rounded' when we haven't seen it at the pro level, and this is Kempe's first year in the north american small rink.

Hate to pull the rip chord on that one. I know Amadio has had an otherworldly year, and is deserving all the praise he is getting...PLUS Kempe has struggled in his first year pro, but Kempe is still very much capable of delivering some real jaw dropping moments in a game. Must iron out things in his game but he is so young it's a matter of time. He has the higher ceiling. Amadio is doing remarkably well in his development though.

Kempe's offensive aptitude is pretty close to the highest I've ever seen in our prospect system, to be honest. Only ones that ever really "wow"ed me like that were Kopitar, Frolov, Rosa (lol), maybe Barney. I didn't really track prospects closer before that but he impresses me so so much.

The good thing about Amadio is his propensity for hard work.

Amadio and Kempe are both 19. One main difference is Kempe is NHL skating level
now and Amadio is not. Kempe would be one of the 5 best / fastest skaters on the
Kings now. Amadio has a bit to go to be at NHL skating level. Kempe's been playing
at a higher level than the OHL for 3 years now- 2 in the SEL and one in the AHL.

Just because Kempe's numbers have been down a few months is not too surprising.
I still wonder if he had a mild concussion from that devastating hit at the WJ tournament. He was also arguably Swedens best player, whereas Amadio was not
even on Team Canada. Kempe also has had some other injury as well.

I think with Amadio's work ethic and getting with the Kings' training program,
he will continue to improve. It seems to always take a year+ in the AHL,
to show marked improvement and productive numbers. I think in 2 years from now,
Kempe will be on the Kings and Amadio will be on the team by the following year,
if they develop as expected. I do not think you can peg them as top 6 or top 9,
as that will just work itself out. Anything is possible. Is Tanner Pearson top 6?
Well, he gets a lot of top 6 minutes at times. Anything is possible, in terms of upside, with gifted offensive players. We can all hope Kempe and Amadio develop into top 6 forwards.

Congrads to UND and King draftee Paul LaDue . Beat Quinnipiac 5-1 tonight.

So, will LaDue be offered a contract again? They offered him one last year,
after his Sophomore season. He just finished hi Jr season.

I would assume they do..Typically you want to sign your NCAA prospects after their junior year at latest, otherwise run risk of a Vesey type situation.

I know I've read that King's management wasn't the happiest with his play/development this season, but he stepped up in the Frozen Four, seems promising.

Ladue can choose to become a free agent this summer. He is in the Wheeler/Schultz situation as opposed to the Vesey/Hayes situation.

Monday update:

>>>Jon Rosen ✔ ‎@lakingsinsider
Am told by hockey ops the #LAKings' plan is to sign UND junior Paul LaDue (6th / 2012) this week and have him go to Ontario<<<<

SGC. (super groovy cool)

Amadio with 2 goals as NB up 2-0 in the firstp eriod, tough matchup vs. Barrie, they lost game 1 big iirc (on the run sorry )

Leading the OHL playoffs in goals, 11 of his team's 28 goals, points on 57% of his team's offense in the playoffs

Is Matt Roy expected to return to Michigan Tech?

Don't know, but he just finished his sophomore season. Had a great year, being 5th in scoring with 7 goals and 20 pts. I just don't know how many contracts are available and the Kings have brought in a lot of defensemen the last few years - Leslie, Gravel, Ebert, MacDermid, Lintuniemi, Forbort and now maybe LaDue. Sharipzyanov and Jacob Middleton as well. Then there's Cernak, who should be in Ontario next season and not in Erie.

Wow, Kingston down 3-0 in the 2nd round. That is unexpected. I wonder what the Kings/Reigns plan's are for Watson if his team gets knocked out tomorrow.

Also doesn't look good for Amadio, also down 3-0 in the series. Game 4 is Thursday.
