So, since all I have to look at is numbers, is Parks at all comparable to Read?

Senior years:

Parks - 27GP 9G 18A 27PTS

Read - 37GP 22G 13A 35PTS

Obviously Read was a better goal scorer but does Parks have any chance to play at the NHL level? I've never seen him play so I have no clue.

Possibly but I don't think he'll end up anywhere close to Read, worst case scenario he should be a good depth player for the Phantoms so he might get a contract this summer.

All you can really hope for is improvement, and he's certainly doing that. Great news.

I wonder if he'd be able to move to wing though, don't see him ever making the team if he's stuck as a center.

I'd imagine he'll be given every oppurtunity to make the team next camp in the 4C spot. He may have to move out eventually but I would imagine they'll try him out a center until proven otherwise.

17 points in 13 games for Cousins. Had an adjustment period last year but he's starting to look dominant like he did in the O. Potential third round steal if he keeps it up.

When i see taylor leier i think he is good enough in his own zone and good enough to pk to play the 3rd line in the nhl.

WHen i see cousins I don't see that. I have a hard time seeing him in the nhl

I hope Cousins starts as our 4th line center next season. Maybe have Leier on the line with him.

Leier will probably be in th AHL again next year. Straka with his recent call up likely positioned himself ahead of Leier if he wasn't already.

It's going to be tough to fit guys into the lineup with Umberger & Lecavalier likely still here next year.

I agree. Leier is probably Umberger's replacement after next year if they decide to buy out RJ. If they're hell bent of keeping Couturier in that shut down role for a while then Leier makes an ideal LW for him.

I do think his NHL future is more secure than Straka's though. Straka is a top six or nothing kind of guy from what I've seen of him in both leagues. That doesn't mean he won't at least get a shot, given how little depth we have at LW on the big club.

I would agree going forward Leier seems to have a more defined role than Straka. Straka though as of right now & heading into next year is at that point where he's probably going to have to nail down a spot if he wants much of a career in the NHL longterm. He played well in his recent call up so he'll probably be given the nod between the two in that time frame until proven otherwise.

AHL POM age 21 or younger (awarded 6 times a year):

07-08: None
08-09: Jiří Tlustý
09-10: None
10-11: Max Pacioretty
11-12: Tyler Johnson, Nazem Kadri, Casey Cizikas, Joe Colborne
12-13: Brett Connolly
13-14: Emerson Etem
14-15: Nick Cousins

So the last 46 time it has been awarded only 9 21 year olds have won it. (none have been younger than 21)

The 8 that preceded Cousins are as of today all active NHLers.

Would would think that a player of the month in the AHL would be consistent enough for a bottom 6 player in the NHL. Possibly a top 6 player if he finds chemistry. Either way we are all happy about his progress. Just shows how horrifying it is for us to drag Vinny and umberger with us every game

have hopes that Cousins can be a good bottom 6 forward for the Flyers down the line. He is progressing really well.

Personally...I would like to see a Laughton, Leier and Cousins line. They would be a good shutdown line but can also chip in with points. They would be hounding everyone!

Frees Couturier to be on a scoring line with Simmonds as well....stick Read on the LW with them. Then BSchenn on the top line.

when i think of cousins i don't think shutdown role. I think more raffl. However I do think if cousins is able to contribute to the team its going to be a 3rd line winger role. Hopefully he develops his two way game a bit.
