I hate to break the news to people, but many of the teams in these types of tourney's can come up with 25 or so kids that are as good or better then Canada.

Team Canada (Russia too) could easily go with 12 highly skilled forwards who would just destroy the opponent's 3rd and 4th lines.

Instead of that they invite 19 year olds with little skill or actually have skilled players like Mackinnon waste their talent playing a grinding role. Instead they insist on going with this dumb top 6/bottom 6 mentality that hasn't worked.

Throw Monahan, McDavid, Shinkaruk, Griffin on this team instead of the Danault, Camara, McNeil, Lipon types and they would have scored more than 1 goal with their one-line offense.

I'm disappointed Canada lost but the criticism of Subban is ridiculous. He had no chance on those first two goals and getting behind 2-0 so early, with John Gibson in net at the other end, well it was looking pretty bleak.

Congratulations to the U.S. - they played an excellent game and Gibson is the Timmy of this tournament. I see him on a regular basis in Kitchener playing for the Rangers and am a big fan of his. So, go win the gold, then come back and get the Rangers back on track because they aren't doing well without him!

Vasilevski did what Subban couldn't do, he kept it a game.

Trying to get some work done, so I didn't watch the 2nd, but early on, Vasilevski didn't look sharp. The team wasn't skating in front of him either, but he didn't look good on the 2nd goal.

Really tough to blame the goalie for much, unless it's a horrible goal. In my son's Squirt game the other day, the goalie was looking into the stands, and he let an easy one in from just inside the blue line. Thought my son was going to strangle him

Sweden could have walked out of the 1st period up 4-0 if they had finished some more great opportunities, instead they're scrambling right now.

This pace is wicked right now

Yeah. You could smell it once Russia scored on kind of a flukey deflection. Swedes should have buried them when they had the chance. Russia came out completely brain dead.

The last few WJHC`s, Team Canada has had a far too methodical and technical approach to things. I`m with you and always have been of the mindset that this tournament is about putting pucks in the net, and formulating a team with literally 2 lines of "shut down" players, a 4th that played next to nothing is foolish.

I understand the importance of having a responsible line to play against other team`s more skilled units but I almost question the purpose of bringing over a 3rd and a 4th line who Spott used.....sparingly, I`m with you WhamBam, would rather see guys who can put the puck in the net, this tourney isn`t about playing trap/conservative hockey

Koko went into the boards legs first late in OT. Hobbled to the bench. Didn't see him after that.

Too bad. Wanted to see USA vs Russia.

@NHLBruins: #2013WJC bronze-medal game will feature Canada vs Russia on Jan. 5. Khokhlachev named Player of the Game in Russia's SO loss to Sweden.^BB

Any chance Koko takes a run at a roster spot this year, or is he definitely heading back to Russia?

Other than thee Swiss/Russia tilt yesterday, having watched about 8-9 games, one of the least entertaining WJHC's in quite some time.

Not sure why, no real story anywhere, no one player making a name for themselves etc....oh well, still my favourite Tourney
