Other then both being Russian I don't see any of the same similarities...

For me, its his size, the way he moves when he has the puck, his shiftyness in and around the corners, reminds me of Sammy. Its the movement. Not to mention even with the pads on, he looks skinny. That's what Samsonov looked like when he first came up here.

Again, that's just how I see it. Perhaps you and others will find another player he reminds you of, but Samsonov was the first that I thought of.

Best game by far for Dougie, I think his goal got his confidence going and he was very good on both ends. Subban had another very solid game, no chance on the goal. Camara was his usual self, I think this guy has a future in the NHL as either a 3rd or 4th line winger.

He had a very solid game against the US as well, only real difference is one went in for him this time around. I like the fact that both he and Subban are being relied on in the manner they are and they're stepping up to the plate. Dougie's defensive game was all around solid today, not overly flashy just very smart.

And on a side note. You can have your Nate MacKinnon and Seth Jones. Jonathan Drouin is the guy I'd have my sites set on with a high pick in the draft.

All 4 of our boys looked pretty good today. DH seems to be concentrating on playing a safer game ... last year in the tournament he was a bit of a train wreck despite putting up more offensive numbers, looks much calmer this year. Camara is a tank on the forecheck could wind up being a nice late round surprise. Koko looked good as well, good motor on him and looks like he could potentially be a nice add to the middle 6.

Glad to see Subban shook off the nerves and is looking like his self now too.

When I watch Drouin I am reminded of Patrick Kane, very slick with the puck and chock full of great moves and creativity. At this point I would still prefer Mackinnon or Jones, but you can't go wrong with any of them. I only wish our Bruins were in a position to get one of them.

You never know if there's another lottery. Not likely, but hopefully Jacobs can pull a few strings. :naughty:

If we got first pick I think we'd take Jones without thinking twice though.

I like what I see from Subban so far. He has very quick lateral movement, and seems to be very good with his leg pads down low. Maybe drops a little soon, but I think probably you see that from most young goalies who haven't yet faced guys like Kovalchuk picking corners with laser beam shots. Looking forward to seeing how he develops over the next couple of years.

For me the story of the tournament so far is Gibson. Man, I wish he was Bruins property.

Gibson looks like the real deal to me. But unlike others here, I only catch what I can on the NHL network. Have to admit watching the US vs Canada game it's nice knowing Subban is B's property. But make no mistake a/b it, they do see laser beams at that level. Look at NHL goalies, like Dwayne Roloson, who thankfully couldn't deal w/ a 19 yr old Tyler Seguin's laser beams. Hopefully Subban only gets better. The fact he got the nod at this stage says a lot.

Wanna talk lasers? Dougie can hammer a puck.

It's too bad Yakupov has been so subpar for him, I would like to see him and Khokhlachev split up as they just seem to have lacked chemistry all year playing together but Yakupov also hasn't worked that well with Grigorenko in the past so they aren't going back to trying that. Yakupov and Khokhlachev both look like guys who want the puck on their stick a lot.
Hamilton was very subpar the first two games but found his defensive game against the US and was excellent overall against Russia. Subban is on fire right now too.

Watching subbans pads and his lateral ability to cover the bottom portion of the net makes me think of the way Jonathon quick plays. I can only hope subban progresses the same way

The numbers would be ridiculous in Claude's system.

Just caught Can vs Rus.

Wow Drouin has some instincts, tenacity, wheels, and skill. Subban looked great again. Made a save on a wing to wing pass that was reminiscent of TT late in the allstar game in Montreal. Shades of his big brother after the penalty shot, though. Hamilton has a howitzer for a one-timer. B's had better figure out a way to utilize it. It's not like Chara is some kind of slouch in the shot department, but on our PP, you'd never know.

Russian coach was screaming at Khokhlachev during the timeout. Then puts the wrong number of players out on the ice. What a duffus. Hopefully that makes him lean towards playing in the NHL and not the K.

Ya gotta love Makarov's mask.

How about Sweden? Decimated by injuries and they keep playing really well. Gotta think this is giving some guys the stage they need to help their draft/prospect status. Hope we are keeping close tabs on them.

Their division was absolutely terrible though. Their only competition had injuries of their own and played like crap otherwise. I think they could be in for a rude awakening in the semis as I'd rank all three of the teams in group B ahead of them. They're still good, but I don't think we'll see a repeat.

They are missing their top 3 D. Any other teams with the possible exception of Canada able to get out of the medal round if that happened?

Both Russia and US could still have a decent shot at winning that division without their top three D with how terrible Finland played. Sweden has been impressive but with Finland flopping in the tournament it's hard to know how good they really are.

That 2:30 ct start for the semi-final couldn't be any better for myself.

Having a little shindig with my friends, guess we'll have something to watch while pounding back some drinks, lol

Back when I first thought the Bruins could pick him, they would have to pull another Seguin deal to grab him. Now the possibility is not there. Depending on the rest of his season in the CHL, I'd say he could go ahead Nate and Seth.
